This is a nice hotel on the upper West side convenient to the Beacon theater museums, Central Park, etc. it is not midtown so restaurants are a few blocks away instead of being packed together, however there are some very good restaurants at all price ranges in the area. As for The hotel, while the rooms are typically New York small they are comfortable […] and modern. The decor is nice and being updated. The only major problem is that any noise in the hallway or a neighboring rooms is often heard, And you can clearly hear into rooms as you pass them in the narrow hallways. Staff is very friendly and helpful and there are numerous coffee shops etc. in the area. I was disappointed that there was no doorman to hail a cab on Sunday morning. Read more

Two of us stayed in a suite with a full bed. Room was small but clean and comfortable. Good use of space. One complaint was the heat, which was too high and couldn't be controlled.

The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Yes the room was small, but the bathroom was a very good size, there was a fridge in the room (very useful when you're in NYC for Restaurant Week), and at the end of the day, we didn't spend much time in the room. And, of course, the location is unbeatable: 2 blocks from the train, a few blocks from […] Central Park and the Natural History Museum,and a block away from Starbucks. For breakfast, there is a great 24-hour bakery/deli across the street from the hotel. The hotel is under construction but the staff is nice and the hotel is clean. The only issue we had was the pergo floors had sticky footprints that I cleaned myself and the tile in the bathrooms were dark green and dirty. The grout also had a little mold but dark tile & dark grout in a low lit bathroom may not have been the best choice. This was my 4th or 5th stay at Hotel Belleclaire. The staff is friendly and helpful and the location is great. The hotel has been undergoing some renovations during the past couple of years and I'm happy to report that the windows were all properly sealed and both elevators were in fine working order. My only negative comment is that while it is pretty quiet in the rooms regarding street noise and adjacent rooms, sound from the hallway is very loud in the rooms. I think it is a quirk of the building. Lots of 24-hour food options nearby and quick access to the Subway line to get anywhere you need to go. The beds are very comfortable and the room, large, for New York, and everything was very clean. This is our top choice for location, value, and neighborhood when staying on the Upper West Side. Booked a standard room, which was clean, bed comfortable, but lacking in space - place to open one suitcase only, nowhere to hang coats (hangers and hooks were on inside bathroom door, in bathroom, which meant that's where your clothes would be stored) - no closet, no drawers. Biggest problem, though, was uncontrollable heat in the room. We turned off […] the radiator, and the man they sent from the front desk told us to open the window, which we did, wide, but there was no air exchange. The heat was radiating from pipes within the walls. Management refused to move us, saying hotel was full. Suffice it to say, it was a very uncomfortable night. The next morning, to compensate us, they gave us a voucher for breakfast or lunch (specific items only) at a nearby diner. Read more

Great hotel at a great price. Larger room then most I've stayed in when traveling to the city. Great location close to shops, resturants, Museum of Natural History, Central Park. Only complaint is the construction going on across the street but if you get a room on the other side of the hotel it probably won't be so bad.

This hotel is located in the upper westside of new york. Very close to the subway (79th and Broadway). You can take the subway to Times Square or take a nice stroll. There's also nice restaurants nearby and a market you can buy fruit/food at. (try Vai Restaurant and Shake Shack! Both are fairly close to the hotel). Older hotel, great nabor hood, restaurant, bar and laundry very close. Short walk to subway. Staff was energetic and accomodating. 9th Floor was under construction so after 3 day they moved us to the 3rd floor. Would stay there again, the guys in the lobby would always hail you a cab and help you with any tourist questions you had. Very small room. No dresser. Window air-conditioner that smelled like urine and sounded like a 747 on take off. Actually the 747 is probably softer. Great location though. Close to subway, grocery and lots of restaurants.

Hotel Belleclaire is a nice hotel, that is as reasonable a price as you are going to find this close to Central Park. It could be so much more but it falls short. My room was nice and had some nicer ammenities such as flat screen tv and ipod dock. What dissappointed me about the hotel stay were two things. Firstly, the bathroom shower in our room had […] some serious wall damage. Additionally the bathroom as a whole could use some updating. The second, more serious issue is that I feel the staff is not as honest as they should be. My situation was that I checked out of the room, and went to check out one more sight before leaving NYC. I returned to the hotel about three hours later and remembered that I had forgotten some cigars I had stored in the mini-fridge. I asked if I could check if the items were still there. I was told that the room had already been cleaned but that the housekeeper would check the fridge. After about ten minutes, the staff told me that the cigars were not there. I know they had to be in there as they didn't show up anywhere in my bags. I did not make a bigger fuss in the hotel, because of the remote possibility that I may have had packed them away. However, seeing as they were not in my bags upon returning home, I have no doubt that the house-keeping crew pocketed my belongings. Like I said, I wish I could give this place higher marks, but that last experience really left a negative impression of the hotel as a whole. Read more
