You don't have to spend a fortune to have a fantastic time in New York. Basic and budget-friendly, Days Hotel Broadway is on the Upper West Side, just a half-mile west of the city's best free attraction: big, beautiful Central Park. Or walk about 5 minutes in the other direction and find yourself in picturesque Riverside Park, with a promenade along the Hudson River. It's the perfect place for a morning run or an afternoon picnic.
The huge American Museum of Natural History/Rose Center for Earth and Space, a mile from the hotel, is well worth the price of admission. Giant dinosaurs, gems, and meteorites, along with the famous dioramas, are sure to fuel your imagination. And if all this sightseeing has fueled your appetite, stop by Zabar's, a massive food emporium about halfway between the museum and the hotel. Pick up a classic New York bagel or deli sandwich, and a black-and-white cookie for dessert. Or stop by the popular diner adjacent to the hotel. Visiting Columbia University? The campus is 1 mile north. A subway stop, with easy access to Times Square and Broadway theaters, is less than a block from the hotel. If you bring a car, parking is available near the hotel for an extra charge.
Another bonus for the budget-minded: Complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout the hotel. Newspapers are also complimentary. Too rainy for a run in Central Park? The hotel's small fitness center is open morning till night.
They say you don't go to New York to stay in your hotel, but the Days Hotel Broadway's guestrooms are comfortable and nicely appointed. Accessible via elevator, the air-conditioned guestrooms include cable TV and coffee/tea makers. Private bathrooms offer hair dryers. Both smoking and nonsmoking rooms are available.

Buildings crane above one another to claim views of Central Park, a piece of real estate valued at more than $528 billion. Surprises abound in its 843 acres. The grounds include a castle, a zoo, several lakes, and an Egyptian obelisk. "I Hate Rodents"
This was our third stay in this hotel and having a rodent nibble at the granola bars overnight while we are in the room is gross and unsanitary also very off putting. We informed the staff and they stated that they would address the problem. Wither they did or not I don't know because there was no follow up. The parking in NYC is terrible and the staff […] sent us to parking garage around the street which was closed we got in at midnight it closed at 11:00 p.m. . If the staff is going to recommend somewhere then they should know the time it closes better yet the hotel should have it's own parking. So we parked on the street and ended up parking in the wrong area overnight and ended up with a $65 parking ticket. I doubt we will be staying in the Days Broadway again Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, iffy amenities"
The location is amazing. The subway is incredibly convenient, you're only a moderate walk away from Central Park, and the area is residential enough to be rather quiet (even on weekend nights with the windows open!), but you've got a lot of good neighborhood restaurants nearby. The room isn't spacious by typical standards, but it's roomy for this price […] point on Manhattan. The downside for us was that the WiFi kept going in and out while we were there, which kept us from being able to work. (An initial outage on Saturday wasn't addressed until Monday, and the signal kept disappearing until Wednesday.) Even when the service was up, the signal was slow enough to be a real hindrance after 5pm. Bottom line: great place if you're not reliant on the internet for anything time-sensitive! "Pay for what you get."
Room was not bad, just ok. Nothing special. As long as the sheets are clean I'm good, and they were. Pay for what you get.Genuine Expedia guest review
The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location and price. It is not clean or well maintained. The staff were OK, but not extra friendly. One of the elevators got stuck with the doors open, so we had to use the other one. Hallway was narrow and the elevators and rooms are tiny. The location is great - about halfway between Times Square and […] Columbia University. I would not stay here again. I would pay more and get a decent room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nothing to complain about, except..."
Luckily, I have stayed here several times before, so I didn't get bummed out by the fact that the internet wasn't working AND I couldn't even use my cell phone in the room (room 221). The front desk person said that he'd be happy to change rooms for me except they were entirely booked, and I was only staying that one night. I still think that, for the […] price, this is one of the best deals around, especially if you don't need/want to be in the thick of the tourist areas and don't care about an upscale neighborhood. It is easy to get absolutely everywhere from this location, and if all you need is a place to sleep, this is a fine choice, especially when the internet is working. "Decent for what we needed it for..."
The hotel was appropriate for the 2 days that we were there. Only needed the room to sleep at night so I would consider staying there again. Very convenient to the subway, just a couple blocks from Central Park, and plenty of stores and restaurants near by.. hotel staff was very nice and helpful. "Hit Or Miss"
Days hotel has a variety of rooms. I have stayed in very trendy refurbished room. However this time I was in an old dingy room. The bathroom appeared new but was so poorly designed I was not able to stand in front of the bathroom sink to wash up. Had to stand to the side.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Decent Value But Trade-Offs To Be Aware Of"
This was our 2nd stay, the first being about a year ago. The location is very convenient, close to family we were visiting. I had asked for a room like we had last year on one of the renovated upper floors but one was not available. We had a room on the 9th floor which was old looking but turned out to be ok. The bed was comfortable, A/C fairly quiet, […] and bathroom clean and presentable. Hot water took some time to come up but once up it stayed hot. For NYC the hotel is a decent value compared to the much higher costs of better hotels. But there are trade-offs you should be aware of. The hotel is run down looking. Hall carpet torn here and there, past water leaks evident, walls heavily scuffed and patched up in places. TV had just a few over the air channels with grainy pictures. Service is spotty. In our 4 day stay we always had a different assortment and number of towel types each day. We made do with that but one day we only got 2 bath towels, no hand towels or washcloths. We had to ask for them - twice - but did get them eventually. Again, the room itself was clean and comfortable and a considerable savings over other NYC hotels. Just know that you are not getting champaign on a beer budget and you'll be fine. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A gem or zircon?"
This gem (sort of) budget hotel is located in New York's fashionable Upper West Side, removed from the noise and garishness of New York's main tourist destinations is worthy of those traveling on a budget. A five minute subway ride to Times Square, the Center of the Universe, adds to its convenience. The hotel is situated among a bevy of restaurants […] and near a passel of museums. The hotel is a bit dated, although the rooms appear to be refurbished. Many of the rooms are rather small -- tiny, actually. The lobby retains its pre-war charm (Civil War, that is). The staff is generally very helpful, if curt sometimes. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Won't stay there again"
Elevator was not working decently, shower drain wasn't draining properly, toilet flush wasn't working properly. Although TV was on reservation it didn't have one in my room when I arrived, only got a TV on the next day and a very old TV. Although my room was cleaned every day, the room was smelly and the carpet has stains all over it. The corridors […] are tiny so was the elevator. Anyway, didn't worth the money spent on it. "Night and day - this isn't quite the one"
Quaint little hotel, which is way past its glory years. Most of the staff does seem to try hard, but there is only so much you can do with limited resources. "Not Even Up to Days Inn Standards"
I was really bummed to have booked a room here. I was excited because of the price, but it was so dirty and tiny and cramped. My room door was literally in the STAIRWAY having to open an emergency exit door to get to it. It was absurd. I couldn't find my room for a long time because I didn't think to leave the hallways and go out an exit door. The room […] was very tiny, only has 10 channels of TV (all just local channels) and it's hard to sleep with the noisy radiator (it's an inconsistent loud sound). I like consistent noises like a fan or air conditioning that doesn't change noises constantly, but this went on and off and on and off over and over and over, and it was very loud. The shower in the bathroom was either scalding hot or very cold. NO in between. I'm really not exaggerating either. The carpet was so nasty and oily I couldn't walk on it barefoot. It literally felt like a greasy sponge. It was old and sooo nasty. The location is certainly NOT for a tourist or someone there on a sight-seeing trip. It's far away from all of the tourist stuff. I just had to take cabs everywhere. I think it was close to a subway station though, but it's certainly far away from any excitement at all. The upside though is that the staff were very helpful and friendly. SO OVERALL-- if you have low standards and don't care about the things I mentioned then you'll be just fine. If you need at LEAST a Motel 6 quality room, this is not for you at ALLLL. Far worse than any Motel 6 I've stayed in. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"It'll do in a pinch, not for an extended stay"
Everything in the hotel seems kind of old and worn looking, but it was clean enough. The main problem I had was the noise from the street--it kept me awake both nights I was there. "3 night stay at Days Hotel - disappointed."
Location is excellent - it's right next to a subway station and there are many shops in the local neighbourhood. The room, however, was rather small and squishy, and the massive cube of a tv that took up a whole corner of a room was not helpful. The elevators are also ridiculously slow - It took me 4.5 minutes to get from the 4th floor to the lobby. […] I was generally happy with the service of the hotel, until I realised I had left a shirt of great sentimental value in my room after I checked out. After some thinking, I realised that hotel cleaners had taken it away when they had changed the bedsheets (I couldn't find the shirt on my second night, and I assumed I had already packed it away.) I called the hotel to get it back, but none of the staff was willing to help me. I called more than 3 times, and each time, my call was just transferred around to one woman who I will call "N". N said that she would contact room service and call me back. She never called me back, so I called a 4th time the following day and she said that room service hadn't found anything. Her attitude was appauling. They also did not offer any compensation. If it wasn't for this incident, my stay at this hotel would have been a pleasant one. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good price, not a great hotel"
A decent place to sleep, but that's about it. Parking nearby is expensive, as are cabs. Shower didn't work well and it took 30 minutes just to check in. Upon leaving, we waited 20 minutes for an elevator that never came, so we took 6 flights of stairs and saw many other guests doing the same.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"an average room for the price"
For the price we paid, a room with two double beds was small and stuffy (perhaps symbolic of NYC accomodation), heating was barely working, and staff were very blunt and uncourteous. But hotel location and neighborhood are good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel in NYC"
The hotel staff was very nice, and it was clean. it was an older hotel, and small, but that was expected in NYC. The room was small, but efficient, there was a place for a small refrigerator, but there was none there. It was also very hot so we had to run the air conditioner, in December, and one of the elevator's was broken, however there was no sign […] or notice put up, letting the guests know this. Days Hotel's location is a plus. The subway station is just across the street. Very easy train access to Times Square and other NYC landmarks. "stay on club floor only"
For us the location is fantastic as we needed to be on the UWS. However, unless you stay on the club floor, the room is dingy, poorly lit, furniture is good will quality with warped drawers that dont open or close and is chipped. The window blinds are bent and don't work well. The walls are cracked and stained, carpet dirty, TV and A/C outdated. You […] get the picture. Once we changed our room, it was a different Hotel. "Good location, ok facility"
I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and was traveling for pleasure. I only stayed in the room to sleep. On the first morning I discovered my hair dryer didn't work. I had to call the front desk twice and then go downstairs to talk to them. Eventually I was told there wasn't another hair dryer available. I found that hard to believe that a hotel this […] size would not have any spares. When I returned to my room that night there was a replacement hair dryer on the bed. "No real curtains on windows"
The heat was not on yet in the hotel even though it was already mid-October. On top of that, the window was horrible so cold air was pouring in through it as well as the AC unit right below it.
