You don't have to spend a fortune to have a fantastic time in New York. "Location is Only Plus"
This hotel is mostly about location: only one block away from the number 1 subway line, making easy access to Lincoln Center, and the Cloisters. A Whole Foods stores is within walking distance as is Central Park. Restaurants and other support services are abundant in this neighborhood. Rooms are much bigger than some "low cost" Manhattan hotels. But […] the interior of the hotel is severely worn, the hallways smell bad, honking taxis on the street disturb sleep and all parts of the hotel above the lobby are drab, unappealing and shabby. The "free" Internet connection only works intermittently and, even in the lobby, was never strong enough to update an iPad subscription to The New York Times. On-site gym equipment dysfunctional and not repaired in a ten day stay. Elevators very slow, often over-crowded and broke down on occasion. "A Small Container Always Mean a Good Thing"
This modest little hotel is wonderfully located on NY's Upprt West Side. After that sentence, there are no further superlatives. The rooms are a bit smaller than tiny. The lobby was nicely updated shortly before the outbreak of WWI. And it shows. Don't be concerned about high speed modern elevators. This hotel offers low speed, creaky antiquated elevators […] ( if you are on a high floor, give yourself an extra 30 minutes to get to your destination, or pack a fanciful lunch -- you'll have plenty of time to enjoy it). For some odd reason, other guests seem to feel a need to loudly open and close doors in the morning and evening. The room that my friend and I stayed in was absolutely disgusting. There were stains all over the floor. The hallway smelled terrible (like rotten ham). Our room smelled bad too. I stayed in a room with two double beds. Overall the hotel makes you skeptical about cleanliness. The hallways are super narrow and almost feels like it has been cut up to make more rooms. Condition of hotel in general is terrible. My remote to the TV did not work......the phone did not work....it had dials to reach housejkeeping and the front desk but they did not work. "Quick NYC weekend hotel on a budget"
The hotel was good as far as location to a subway and the staff was really nice. It definitely needs work and the pillows were tough. Bathroom was nice! No bed bugs! The manager says they're addressing the issues I had here, but until they do- BUYER BEWARE! They advertise cable TV- not so. They get the local stations ONLY. They also advertise wireless internet throughout the hotel- NOT TRUE. They have wifi throughout, and you CAN connect to the wifi network, but it isn't connected to the internet. The only place […] you can actually connect to the internet is in the lobby. The rooms are in need of updating due to old (and stained) carpeting, having to wait 10-15 minutes for hot water (I was on an upper floor), a radiator that wouldn't shut off, and even when turned off by maintenance a room temp that was always in the 80's. The area was great- lots to do and see, great restaurants, subway steps from the front door, and a safe enough feel to not worry about walking around any time of day or night. "Days Hotel Broadway - close to West Central Park"
I stayed in this hotel for two days. It was cheaper hotel I founded around the Central Park. It is close to Broadway Ave and subways. However, the staff who help us to check-in was rude. I was traveling to New York to take my daughter to look at universities and we were on a budget. The online site had photos that seemed to make the hotel appear to be clean and very well put together. The lobby was decorated with Christmas decorations and the presents under the tree were ripped. The furniture in the lobby does not match and it looks like something from the Goodwill Store. "Initial room was aweful"
We stayed for 2 nights and the first room was rediculous. Mold, paint pealing, portable heater with missing wheels, phone didnt work, wall plugs didnt work, water temp fluctuated from extremely hot to cold on its own (made for a suprizing shower) and the tub would not drain. When we asked to transfer the lady gladly moved use to a suite which was 100% […] nicer. The water in the bathroom of the new room still leaked all over the place and we had to put towels down. This hotel is in rough shape. the positive is that it is right in front of the 96th street subway station on broadway and there are plenty of food places close for a quick bite. "Days Hotel Broadway in NY - renovations????"
There were signs in the lobby and elevators saying "pardon our appearance while we renovate". This hotel seemed very old and shabby. We had a non-smoking room on a SMOKING floor and didn't think it would be a problem because the room didn't smell of cigarette smoke...until we tried to sleep! When we tried changing our room the next day, there were no […] double-double rooms available. That night we had to wedge towels around the door jam and along the bottom of the door to keep the cigarette smoke out, which seemed to help. You could even see the hallway light coming through the door jam. The floor leading into the bathroom was sinking, the water faucets/handles in the shower looked like they were coming out of the wall and it looked as if the tiles would fall out at any time. The carpet had an iron burn mark and looked very old and dingy. The only plus was that it was located 2 blocks from the #1 subway station, which we used often.
