    Overview

    If you're looking for a classic New York experience, consider a stay at the Belvedere Hotel. Situated in a 1920s Art Deco building in Midtown Manhattan, the Belvedere is only 2 blocks from the Theatre District and Times Square, where you can enjoy live Broadway performances. Take a bite of the Big Apple at the famed Restaurant Row, also 2 blocks away from the hotel.

    Fortunately, you won't have to wander far from the Belvedere if hunger strikes. The hotel is home to the Churrascaria Plataforma, Brazilian-style steakhouse known for its all-you-can-eat meats, salad, and sides. At the table, each diner receives a dual-sided disk: with green side up, waiters will slice cuts of beef, pork, and salmon; when you have your fill, turn the disk red side up to stop the flow of food. Be sure to pace yourself as the restaurant is also known for its decadent desserts.

    After dinner or a long day of sightseeing, unwind in your guestroom and watch the high-definition LCD TV, or check your email using the hotel's wireless Internet (available for a surcharge, though Internet is included in the rate for Executive rooms). Prepare a snack in your in-room kitchenette, or order in from room service. In the morning, you can head down to the Belvedere Café for a Continental breakfast or American breakfast buffet.     staff was very friendly, helpful and cooperative. Rooms were renovated and updated, but somewhat small. Need to update chairs in room for additional seating. Elevators were very slow and a long line of people always waiting and stopping at many floors at once.

    The hotel is old. I had read reviews for other hotels that stated outdated furniture and bathroom fixtures, and unfortunately, this hotel has the same outdated accommodations. The king sized bed had two noticeable dents on either side. The bedding was thinned and worn. No mini fridge or coffee maker. These things don't sound like much, but at close […] to $300 a night, the expectations are higher. The shower wasn't the newest with its un-grouted tiles and rickety water knobs. The toilet was noisy and it ran for longer than necessary. All of which are personal preference, my friend didn't seem to mind (until we went to another hotel and then she talked about how the differences were very noticeable after the fact). The one thing that I will warn is that the elevators have to be the oldest things in the hotel. There are two for the 17 (minus floor 13) floored hotel; and they are slow. They were small, only holding about six people, two with luggage. I was fortunate being on the 17th floor, I was always guaranteed a place going down. However, I would always encounter people who, instead of pressing the up button to go up and ride down, pressed down, got on, and complained when it stopped on their floor with no one there to get on. Aww, comedy. The other reviews about staff friendliness are absolutely correct. I love getting extra towels and I love it even more when I'm not questioned as to why I need them. Read more

And they had no way to control the heat & couldn't sleep the last night. However staff tried their very best to control it and finally opened a window to try to cool it off. The room was very clean, but the faucet leaked, the Flimsy bathroom door had strips of wood peeled off and the windows were very drafty since it has a window air conditioner hanging in it.     Room was very noisy. We heard outside street noise all night. Hotel had experienced a water main break before our arrival, and elevators were down, so there was quite a long wait for elevators. Phone in room did not work when trying to reach front desk or concierge.

    I have no idea why but they gave us a room for handicaped and the bathroom was too unconfortable with no place to put our stuff.. The elevators where half on repairs or not working and they were extremelly late.The Staff was very helpful and the service was great. Location is very good... in the middle of everything...

    This hotel is not in a good spot. The hotel was very crowded. The elevators were small and very slow. The night we stayed there were groups of teenagers staying, they were awake most of the night and very noisy.

We came back from breakfast and outing and first of all our keys werent working. went down, a diffrent person reprogrammed, instead of saying sorry, said i must have taken the wrong key, which wasn't the case at all. We went up and nobody had yet cleaned the room. We came downstairs sat in front of the front desk and asked her to get someone to clean it. They didn't have the courtesy to tell us when it was done.     The hotel was clean but older, the biggest disappointment was the shower ,it took forever to regulate the water temperature and once we had gotten in it changed drastically to cold, and then back to scalding.

An engineer came to the room twice and tried to get it started but said because it was so cold out it would take awhile. It never came on.     Hotel room was big, bathroom was TINY! The location was good and the hotel was nice. It did its job - clean, comfortable place to sleep, and even though we didn't use it, there was a microwave and refrigerator. We also had a small problem while we were there and the manager helped us out nicely. I approve of the Belvedere and would stay again.

    Elevators went up to the floor of where our room was but didn't stop on our floor on the way down. Each time we had to take the stairs. The A/C in the room had a wooden board that hold it in the window which makes a loud whistling noise throughout the night (maintenance stuck a bathroom towel in the window but it didn't work).

    Nice location. Room was nice. TV is kind of small and outdated. The biggest issue with this hotel are the elevators. Slow!! And Small. On a positive the wifi included with my room was fast and dependable.

    Hotel room was a little on the small side, but for the amount of time we spent in the room it was fine. Bathroom was tiny, and not many additional outlets - which caused a problem getting ready to go out for 4 females, but all in all - it was great. People were super friendly and extremley helpful.

    The location of the hotel can't be beat! The art deco lobby and exterior are great! Our room needed an upgrade in bedding and carpet, and the bathroom was the size of a postage stamp! Shower went in and out from hot to cold. Have stayed in better places at the same price.

    Hotel is in good location - just off the beaten track but really close to Time Square and Broadway theaters. I've stayed here a few times and it's been okay each time. Rooms are a little small but not tiny. Hot water from faucet/shower is SCALDING. BEWARE. Carpets in corridors are grubby and hotel generally could do with some investment. Noise from […] outside is relatively low for Manhattan. There's no room service at the hotel. And this time, my room phone didn't work properly. When I pressed the button on the phone for a wake-up call, I got a message saying the restaurant was closed. When I pressed the button for the Concierge, I got a guest-room at the hotel. When I called front-desk to report all this, saying I also wanted a wake-up call, they ignored everything I said, except for the part about the wake-up call and promptly hung up on me after confirming call. When I asked at the front-desk and a doorman how long I should allow to get to La Guardia to catch a plane mid-morning, instead of giving me a direct answer (like '45 minutes'), I got asked a stream of questions about whether the flight is domestic, and who with, etc. They were telling me to be at the airport at least 2 hrs. before a domestic flight (totally absurd and unncecessary) - although Delta only asked for 45 mins. Impossible to get a straight answer from hotel staff, so I allowed 45 mins. which was just fine. If you listen to the hotel staff, you'll sit at the airport for hours, for no reason. Read more

    Overall, a good budget priced hotel in heart of the theater district. We travel a lot and if a hotel is convenient, reasonably priced and well-maintained it's enough since we only sleep in the room. Belvedere was all that and our Executive" room (recommended choice) apparently newly upgraded with excellent/comfortable king size mattress and larger tub […] with two shower heads. Ample hot water/pressure. The 7th floor room was very quiet. Elevator service a big minus. Only one of two fairly small cars working during our entire stay and service of that one was agonizingly slow - made worse if you're on a middle floor at "rush times" - up to 15 minutes wait while it passes completely full from passengers getting on above or below. Even so, would still have given a higher rating except for serious lapses in routine hotel service that should not be a problem in well-run establishment: only one courtesy bathrobe provided, though reservation was for 2 guests; room safe was inoperable (though staff repaired it when notified), and a completely unacceptable failure of housekeeping - a reddish brown dried smear on bathroom electric outlet next to sink that was probably dried blood.
