Let the West Coast have Hollywood; Broadway’s lights are just as bright, and many screen actors come to the Great White Way to gain acting credibility. Area attractions include Carnegie Hall, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and the Museum of Modern Art. Resplendent St. Patrick’s Cathedral takes up a block at Fifth and 50th. Once seedy, Times Square now hosts ABC, MTV, and NASDAQ.

The hotel was "ok" - clean but overpriced for what it is. A sad drab but clean room. An elevator was out - and when both were working there was often a long wait. Restaurant was dismal. No sense of welcome from the front staff or restaurant personnel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"If you have to stay near the theater district"
Overpriced for what we got. Everything is extra - parking, internet, breakfast. The place is old and shabby, with touch-ups all over the place (in elevators, bathtubs, etc.). Carpets are old, worn and soiled. The place is in need of a major renovation/face lift to restore it to its past glory (if it ever had one). But, it is very close to the Broadway […] theaters, and if that is all you want, go for it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Unimpressed"
The room pictured on the website is NOT the room you'll get - let's keep it real and adjust the price of the room accordingly. Curtains were falling off the curtain rod and the "kitchen", well, I think I would've foregone the microwave and fridge for a little extra "space". I was truly embarrassed as I had a guest stay with me and pitched how classy […] this place appeared. I took the time out of my day to submit a credit card (CC) auth. form so my guest would not have to use her CC for incidentals (checked in before me) however, they requested it anyway and put a $450 hold on her CC. The nail in the coffin - they provided us a letter to advise the water would be shut-off from 11pm-5am (ok, not a big deal) YEAH, they shut it off at 9pm while I was still showering. When I called the front desk, the young lady was a little rude and conveyed they don't know the source of the problem - one of the excuses: the city was doing work which "may" have contributed to the early shut-off and she asked if I would like her to send someone up? Why?? If others are reporting the same problem, this is not an isolated incident - would you like to waste more of my time?? Lack of ownership for issues reported from guests and dismissive. This could've been handled a little better. I would not visit this hotel again and can now easily recommend 3 other places within walking distance from Time Square that would've better than this hotel. "Tired hotel"
This hotel looks great in the pics but is tired and old looking in person. It also smells awful in the hallways... I'm not sure how this hotel got such good ratings.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Physicaly good...morally bankrupt"
The hotel was nice, clean, and comfortable with a good location. However; the incredibly poor customer service and attitude displayed by the staff, including the managers, was so grotesque I would not recommend a stay at this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The 8th floor had a major pipe break - no phones - no restaurant - no receipt, had to use the service elevators - yuck! the lobby was covered in dry wall they had to pull down - what a mess!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old and broken"
You can tell this is a remodeled hotel from an old studio apartment the moment you walk into the room. The bathroom was very small and old. And the shower was broken! The heater could not be adjusted and it was boiling in the middle of the night. I read from another person's review before booking that their heater never worked during their stay and […] it could not be fixed. I thought it just happened to be that room at that time, but with my own experience, I doubt if the heater ever works for any of the rooms. The bed was super uncomfortable and I woke up with back pain.... Among over 20 hotels I have stayed at in Manhattan, mostly around midtown and time square area, this was the worst ever. Definitely wouldn't recommend it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"CONSIDER OTHER OPTIONS"
I know that when you stay in midtown/times square area you are paying for location as well, but this place doesn't seem to try very hard to make your stay pleasant. First of all their incidentals hold is too much. 300 Dollars for 4 days!? Yes you get it back, but thats a big chunk of spending money. If I had know about it I would have prepared but it […] is not listed on this site. I work in travel so I always check things like that. The people at the desk were not helpful or even sympathetic. They made me feel like some poor hick. Finally the manager lowered it to a reasonable 100. the rooms are no better than a quality inn, which is fine if your paying quality inn prices. It was 11 degrees out side and I could feel cold air seeping through the window. We called the "engineer" to adjust the heat and do something about the window. Heat was not any higher and he said there was nothing he could do about the air coming in. He brought us a space heater. So we had to keep a space-heater between our beds the whole trip. My friend had to send a fax she had to ask 4 times for the staff to do it. She also need to print something off, but we found that the business center charged 5 dollars for 10min of use. Ridiculous! I have never had to pay to use a business center and that amount is far to high. For that price there better be porn. I will say that the concierge desk rep was very helpful and the location was great. What it comes down to is your paying for the location and the name. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Unhappy"
Although the location was amazing and the room seemingly comfortable I had a horrible evening stay. When taking a shower the tub filled up and when I unclogged it found a large nest of other past guest's hair! My sleep was interrupted every 1/2 hour by the very loud (and needed to be looked at) heating system next to my head. After I got home I wrote […] the hotel my complaints and have NOT received a response from anyone. I was also forced to upgrade to executive suit because there was only 1 queen in a room I asked for 2 beds. THey said this came with free internet ~ it DID NOT. I have been to countless hotels and this has been the worst one ever, for it's service. Rooms are very small, especially the bathroom, and very antiquated. The Hotel has a pretty lobby. great location and great friendly staff. Great Concierge! The room are horrible. My shower was clogged and not clean enough. The towels and sheets are old and dinghy. It made me search for bed bugs (which were not there). The heater did not work. The room was cold. "Don't be fooled by the pictures"
We booked this hotel last minute as we needed 2 dbl rooms. It was the only hotel that could suit our bed needs in the Times Square area. Upon arrival, the check in was smooth and courteous. Elevators are extremely extremely small and very very very slow. At one point my son and I waited 2 min for an elevator. It passed our floor twice. We then learned […] about the service elevators and used those. The rooms are outdated, dirty carpet that was loose and bunched up in areas. Fire dept is right up the street and believe me... You can hear everything going on outside of your window (we were on the 6th floor) cars honking, people yelling. The beds were creaky and uncomfortable. Linens were ok. Bathrooms are tiny. In our room, to sit on the toilet you had to sit sideways because the toilet was right up against the wall. Our shower water temp was never consistent. Once you thought you found your perfect temp, it would get scalding hot, and seconds later ice cold. So you had to shower quickly. No extra outlets in the room except for in kitchenette and bathroom. The location was great. And the bellhop is a nice touch. I'd rate this hotel a 2.5-3 star. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Sub-par for the Price"
Shower hardly sprayed water. Dresser in front of bed left barely 8" to walk by. Breakfast buffet was paltry and there was no service in the dining room, not even poured coffee. "First and last time at the Belevedere!"
We were really unhappy with this hotel. From the non-air conditioned halls and elevators (2 very small ones) to the very drab and dated rooms, this hotel was a real disappointment. The room and bathroom were tiny for the amount of money we spent, awful shower, slippery floors, no free wifi anywhere, paper cups, etc. When I called the Front Desk to ask […] for a different room I was told they are all identical. I mentioned that the room didn't resemble what I saw on Expedia and they insisted it did. I realize this is NYC and things are expensive, but we have stayed at numerous hotels and they have been so much nicer for comparable money. I will say the bed was comfortable and the staff was pleasant. First and last time at the Belvedere! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Room was too small. Shades did not work, Maintenance was called and they responded but couldn't fix the problem. Said they would return - never did. Would not stay in this hotel for future visits. Would rather pay more for a more desirable room. Did not meet my expectations. Web site makes the property look more "glamorous" than in reality it is. Hotel […] has window air conditioners that are to noisy and interfere with sleep. Blower had three positions but only one worked, which was the high one (naturally). The room and hallway were insufficiently lighted. There was an airconditioner mounted in the window instead of your typical central system so it was noisy.
