Great stay at this hotel. We arrived at 10 am, left our bags and the hotel staff ensured that we had 2 rooms next to each other after our day of sightseeing. Large, clean rooms with Internet included in the room price. Coffee maker, refrigerator, comfortable beds and plenty of towels. Next door to the hotel is a 24 hr pharmacy for drinks and snacks […] etc. 15 min walk to Times Square. Nice but not overly friendly. Overall very clean and for the price it beat my expectations on the cleanlyness. upon reception they didn't aknowledge my breakfast deal and needed proof from my expedia reservation. Booking direct has it's perks. they didn't proeprlly activate our room keys on first try and I had to run back downstairs to have them activated. […] Afte that expereince was great. Let's see the staff was very friendly, room was always clean and neat. Valet parking/storage was a bit pricey so be ready 48/day. My only complaint was that when we walked into the room it was so hot it took your breath away. Spacious rooms, a 24-hour pharmacy/grocery store on the ground floor, subway stop just a few steps from the hotel entrance. Sound insulation was good - we (including our eight-year-old daughter) slept well despite a party in the next room. The staff were very friendly, including reception, concierge, bellman. "Now I know why this hotel gets high ratings"
When selecting a hotel for a family stay in NYC, I was suspect about the high ratings for this hotel. The price, however, could not be beat. We were 2 adults and 3 children ages 14, 13, 10. Once we arrived, we found the location is also ideal. You are not in the middle of Times Sq, nor would you want to be with kids. It is just a couple blocks away […] from the action and right by the subway. We arrived very early, so our room was not ready. We were treated to complimentary coffee/tea and use of restrooms on a special guest floor and checked our bags. Rob, a true gem of a concierge, filled us up with all kinds of FREE things to do with the kids that they really liked. Once in the room, we were delighted -- a double room is big by NYC standards, with pull-out couch for additional sleeping space, and very quiet, clean, and comfortable. What put this hotel over the edge for us, though, is the kindness and vitality of the staff. In addition to Rob, Wil, who checked our baggage and was more than happy to retrieve a camera we forgot to take. All the women working at the desk had a smile and true interest in serving us. We were very pleasantly surprised by Courtyard by Marriott. Our room, which had a king-sized bed (!!), was large, comfortable, and clean. We had a couch to relax on while watching TV. There was a good sized desk/table. The front desk people were very nice and helpful. The location of the Courtyard, in the beautiful East side was great. There is a subway […] stop half a block a way. Park Ave and Fifth Ave are walking distance, including St. Patrick's Cathedral. Fifth Ave is also one subway stop away. The NY City Center (beautifully renovated arts theatre) is also walkable (or a short subway ride). Generally, the East side is much less hectic in our opinion than the areas around Penn Station and Times Square, which we find more pleasant. Have been to NYC for both business & pleasure and stayed at both luxe and plain hotels. We are very glad to have found this Marriott Courtyard. Visited on business and stayed over for 3 extra days. Pro's: -FREE wireless internet in our room -Refrigerator in room -Great location (next door to a pharmacy) -Only 1 block from Buttercup Bake Shop, about […] the best cupcakes anywhere -Great, friendly staff -Warm cookies every afternoon -Free coffee -Concierge has great restaurant suggestions w/i walking distance (try Dalbar for Indian) -We asked for - and got - a room with a wonderful view -No rooms are far from the elevator -They even had loaner umbrellas on the one rainy day!
