"Great for what it is"
Stayed for one night with my son. Needed a place to stay and this was fine. Clean room. If you can deal with shared bathroom and shower, then it works. Great location for getting on subways and crosstown busses. Had a delicious dinner at an Indian restaurant on the same block. It was also very quiet, considering its location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"If they just spent $50 per room"
It is a cute and functional hotel...think cabin on a cruise ship. I am the type that just uses a hotel room for sleeping and usually don't do much of that, so I am in my hotel 4-5 hours per day max so this was ideal - why pay for something you aren't going to use. It is clean and everything works - but little things like: No battery cover on remote […] control, shower handle missing set screw so it falls off in your hand, desk very wobbly, had conditioner and soap but no shampoo for 2 days. If they spent maybe $50 per room to fix the little things, I would give them a higher rating. In the end, it did what it needed to do though. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect Price & Location for NYC"
The Pod 51 and sister Hotel Pod 39 are both Perfect little cabins for an amazingly low price. I've stayed & paid every price & size room that Manhattan has to offer and let me tell you. You can't beat Pod. Classy, Mod Little Cabins with Private Bathrooms. Compact yea, but you're in the center of the greatest city on planet earth...did you really come […] for the bed? "Convenient, efficient, friendly"
I liked the place. The rates were inexpensive, considering that it was in midtown Manhattan, and I got a good night's rest before heading out the next day. The rooms were small, but this isn't a place where you hang out in your room-- it's a place where you can have some privacy and get some rest for the night. Particularly if you have a reason to be […] in midtown, this place is well worth staying in if you want more privacy than you would have in a hostel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Worse than a hostel"
Biggest mistake I made in years staying here in Manhattan overnight to make early connection. Shared bathroom does not mean semi-private; dormitory style is more appropriate. And the bathroom was nothing more than a commode (without appropriate ventilation). As for the room itself, the size was expected but the walls are paper thin so that you can hear […] any conversation or movement on the entire floor (and I had some neighbors who didn't shut up all night). The bed was like sleeping on bedrock. About the only thing decent was the wi-fi and, based upon other reviews, I would say this is the exception to the rule. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Small room but convenient."
The rooms are very small even for New York and without a bathroom. For a one night stay it was half the price of other area hotels but still over $200.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location"
I was with my granddaughter and we loved being in midtown Manhattan. That made up for the teeny tiny room and shared bathroom. We were gone most of the time so it didn't make too much difference. We felt safe and liked going to the rooftop at the end of the day. Excellent service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

very niceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is in a safe and upscale area. But poor maintenance is making this an unworthy old broken down Pod 51. What you see online is not what you're going to get! And this is so sad, cause this hotel could be the very cool hotel that it was meant to be (Pod 31 is a better choice). This was worth every penny when it first opened. Not in today's market. […] The keys to saving this pod is upscale maintenance at a big price!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great, but AC was ineffective on a swampy night"
Clean, reasonable, great service on a random request I made to the concierge--everything was fantastic, except the darned air conditioner didn't keep the room cool. And you know NYC when it gets warm.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A great place to stay"
A perfect place to stay and explore Manhattan. Only a 10 minutes walk to the next subway. A very relaxing terace on the 14 floor. Perfect to relax after a day in this great city. I`ll recomend it to my friends.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"I would stay here again"
Bare minimum, but just right for business trips. It's funny what they do and don't have - but it works overall. I asked the front desk for toothpaste - they don't have toothpaste.... but I guess that's part of the "Pod Charm" - overall it was a good experience and i would definitely return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very impressed! Five-star service & decor"
I have been telling everyone about this hidden gem of a hotel. I was meeting old friends for one night in town and just needed a place to lay my head. Walking into the lobby, it was obvious that although this was a 'budget' hotel, the decor was new, clean, and stylish. The staff were beyond professional, from the desk clerk who cheerfully offered me […] an upgrade to the friendly bellman who appeared at my door with my luggage almost sooner than I got there. The room, whilst small, was ergonomically perfect, with a desk, wi-fi, and squeaky-clean stainless steel sink unit stuffed full of towels, soap, glass drinking glasses, and indulgent body cream. Comfy bed and a luggage stand, too. Like many European hotels, there was a shared bathroom but since there were several on the floor, it was never a wait. And what a bathroom it was! Marble tiles on the walls, brand-new high-end fixtures including a rainfall shower stocked with liquid soaps and shampoo. I always travel with earplugs, and I recommend that you do too, since when I removed them in the morning I could hear a baby crying in the room across the hall, but my sleep was peaceful and comfortable. Checkout was quick, with the charming bellman collecting my quite heavy suitcases and happily loading them into a taxi for me with a smile. I cannot believe that I have finally found genuinely nice, affordable accommodation for my NYC visits and will be booking in here from now on. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great price, great location."
I stayed at Pod 51 with my 14-year-old nephew on a one night stay in NY. I wasn't looking for anything "posh" or upscale...and after reading the reviews on the hotel, I booked one of the bunk bed rooms. It was ideal for what we needed - a convenient, clean place to sleep. I would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Check it out!"
I stayed one night in anticipation of spending a few days at my daughter's home. I didn't want to spend a lot of money but wanted to be in this vicinity as my daughter works there. I read the reviews which were positive and thought, "It's only one night!" It was what I expected (per the reviews). Rooms are small, but clean. Felt like I was back in Paris! […] I actually slept with the windows open! It was that quiet. The concierge was most helpful. I was able to leave my luggage for the day as I explored the area. The best French restaurant is next door. Famous Ess-man Bagels and Dos Caminos are right around the block. It is 4 blocks from the United Nations. Great location. I would stay there again as well as recommend it to anyone who just needs a convenience place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value"
Liked the noon checkout time and the 2:00pm check-in. Great location, wonderful rooftop sitting area, a comfortable lobby restaurant with a nice outdoor deck and delicious & reasonably priced breakfast options. The rooms are very small but they have all the amenities you need...this hotel model may not be for everyone.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I totally enjoyed the roof deck and garden area , while having a latte from the hotel cafe. It was a wonderful way to start and end the day of running around the city! Room was nice for sleeping. "perfect pocket rooms"
Hotel rooms in NYC tend to be small - Pod rooms are smaller! But up-dated, well-designed, clean & comfortable. Pod 51 is in a great Mid-town location on the eastside with many good restaurants and the subway a couple of blocks away. It was quiet. The bathrooms down the hall were clean tile + marble, good fixtures. Only complaints: insufficient pillows […] and no in-room coffee maker! I don't need a hair-dryer; I do need a coffee machine!
