Let the West Coast have Hollywood; Broadway’s lights are just as bright, and many screen actors come to the Great White Way to gain acting credibility. Area attractions include Carnegie Hall, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and the Museum of Modern Art. Resplendent St. Patrick’s Cathedral takes up a block at Fifth and 50th. Once seedy, Times Square now hosts ABC, MTV, and NASDAQ.

"Hotel in Flux"
Great hotel. Great location close to Times Square. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Prices were exceptional. A bit of an inconvenience with the construction of the hotel going on. I just wanted a great room in a good location...very satisfied with both of those.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location,location,location!"
Yes,it is under construction and not all elevators were working. On the other hand,we were only staying overnight, the room was clean, the staff was very helpful and you can't beat the location. I would say go for it but realize there will be some minor inconveniences.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good bones, but under renovation"
I think this classic hotel will be a great value in Times Square once finished with renovation. My room was very small, but stylish and comfortable. The common areas were all under construction (May 2013) which was very confusing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Milford Plaza Hotel We are in the late stages of our lobby renovation which includes work on our elevators as well, necessitating taking one at a time out of service. While we realize our temporary lobby is much smaller than our regular lobby, we do try our best to make our guests as comfortable as possible and sincerely regret if we failed to do so with you.
There was a clogged rainspout and water leaked into the room during the night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Milford Plaza Hotel On the morning of May 8th of this year, New York City experienced torrential rain storms that dumped an unprecedented amount of water in a very short time, setting a record. Unfortunately, during such weather events, drains often cannot keep up with the volume of water, causing back-ups and leaks. Our staff were dispatched as quickly as possible to address the issue which was further complicated by the hotel’s sold out situation, making it impossible to assign new rooms until other guests checked-out. We regret any inconvenience you were caused.
"In the center of it all...."
The hotel is under renovation, so elevator wait times and flow of people in the lobby were negatively impacted, but that said, the staff did a very good job of helping and directing people to minimize the issue as best they could. Location is fantastic, particularly if you are going to spend the majority of your time between 40th-60th street. Subway […] stops are convenient too. Room was clean, if small (it's New York), but perfect if you are not planning to spend much time in the room. Wouldn't kill them to provide a pen. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The rooms are too smallGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Milford Plaza Hotel We’re sorry you were disappointed with the size of your room. We do have varying size rooms in our hotel but during times of high occupancy, as was the case during your stay, we must make use of all the rooms at our disposal.
Room was very small and there was construction going on. One plus was that they had HBO and showtime.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Under construction - steer clear"
The lobby was a zoo, the controlled elevators a nightmare. Might be a fine hotel after construction is complete, but I wouldn't stay there again until them. Upside: rooms were clean and comfortable and nice views of the Hudson from upper floor rooms. I also hated staying anywhere near Times Square. Understand that might appeal to others, but not to […] me. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Yes, the hotel is still under renovation, and the lobby at times seemed like a crowded bazaar in Marrakesh. Nevertheless, I had a clean, comfortable room where everything worked as it should. Always plenty of friendly staff on hand to show you the way. Would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Uncomfortable renovation"
Very unpleasant experience. Badly designed and managed elevators. Long lines to get to an elevator. Spent over 15 minutes in an elevator line trying to get to my room the first night. Dirty door of the room inside. Construction works and no sound friendly advice or help to get to check-in area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Milford Plaza Hotel Our hotel is still under renovation. While our guest floors have been completed (and all rooms contain safes), our Lobby renovation was delayed due to a total re-design of the space so, while we had originally hoped to be finished by now, the renovation of our public space began September 1st for an expected completion in late 2013; however, Phase 1 of our lobby should be completed by mid-June. While all major construction has already been completed there can be intermittent drilling (during daytime hours only) and occasional tests of new mechanical systems, such as fire alarms, elevator systems, steam systems in accordance with NYC Department of Buildings requirements. If these will result in any guest disturbance, letters are given out at the Front Desk or placed in the guest rooms to advise all guests. We apologize for any inconvenience.
"Hotel is under TOTAL reconstruction"
The hotel is under a total reconstruction, which Hotels.com and the confirmation from the hotel itself failed to mention. Placed a request for a wake up call and never received one - missed an important business breakfast meeting. The Manager credited me for the wake-up call error, but that is not what I depend upon a hotel staff for.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Broadway Theaters"
The hotel is under renovation but that didn't create a problem, as the staff was responsive and did a very good job of making one's stay as comfortable as possible. Our room was recently renovated and was clean and comfortable. We stayed overnight for a Broadway show and the hotel was only a block away from the theater. I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It is not really a full renovation"
The staff was awesome... The room was small as expected, but to have to sit sideways on the toilet was a bit ridiculous.New furniture and flooring, but the same chipped and peeling paint on the woodwork and radiator covers...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"mediocre"
long waits for elevator, confusing elevators and floor access. Lacking in amenities. OK cleanlinessGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect Theater & Times Square Location"
The location to Times Square is perfect. Buses, subways, tour buses, etc. are all right there. Basically, the connection to anything you want to see and do is close. Most importantly the Broadway Theaters are next door! The room was clean and small (I wasn't there to stay in my room). Internet service is not free (should be). Price is best for the location!! […] Be aware they are in the middle of renovations meaning you'll need to be very patient with check-in and elevator use (the staff was very helpful and accommodating - having us move to the service elevator to reduce congestion when needed). This is a HOTEL for the tourist who isn't planning on staying in the room much. I'd stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"much better if the construction is finished"
not to bad of location, our room had smell like #1...not sure if they were a leak but really think the shower curtain because when it wet it had more bad smell....mentioned to front desk to change shower curtain but they didn't so the smell still there.....Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Access problems and incoviences"
I will never stay there again after the treatment I revieved as a guest and visitor. I stood in the lobby and witnessed the annoying security protocol as each guest was asked to produce there hotel key and proof of identity. One guest even verbally announced how violated he felt having to be interogated time and time again each time he arrived back […] at the hotel. I asked the night manager Anthony why this security measure was in place and he could only say that it was to combat unwanted activity in the hotel. I wonder what kind of activity he is refering to ? I was willing to produce id so that I could go up but they said that someone would have to come down from the room with a key card in order for me to gain access again. The only attractive feature of this hotel is the price .... The Hotel front desk is not even up front you have to go thru security first to get that also. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Milford Plaza Hotel Due to our location in the heart of Times Square with its huge crowds, a key check is required after 11:00 PM to ensure that only registered guests of the hotel gain access to the guest room floors. This is a safety and security measure common to many large hotels in densely populated areas and we apologize if this was not explained to you to your satisfaction.
It's all about the view and the upkeep of the hotel for me. This hotel is undergoing renovation so the main entrance looks awful. The service especially the check in was far too slow. The view was of a building across the street. The price wasn't bad but there wasn't much in the surrounding neighborhood. Probably should've stayed outside of manahattan […] for a better price and just taken the train into manhattan. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Milford Plaza Hotel This is the first time I have ever heard that there is "nothing much in the surrounding neighborhood" considering we are literally next door to Broadway theaters and steps away from Restaurant Row and the excitement that is Times Square. We do apologize that our temporary lobby which is one third of the size of our regular lobby resulted in a long check-in time. our new space will have additional elevators and agent desks to help streamline the process.

"Location just nice"
Room too small but perfect location...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was fine except air conditioning did not work. I was told by service that it had not been changed from heat to air conditioning. I had to sleep with the window open which was not safe as there was a balcony outside attached to other rooms. Even though unsafe, it was too hot to sleep with window closed. The balcony was about four feet deep and had […] trash...cans, cigarette butts , etc. Renovations going on so lobby was a mess and huge travel groups often in lobby. "Good location but currently rehabbing"
Room was clean and comfortable albeit small. Lobby area was always congested due to construction and limited space. Overall, good experience. I wish there would have been coffee makers in the rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, undergoing renovation"
During renovation the check-in is at ground level in a makeshift room. Floors in hallways needed vacuuming. Smallish room had modern furniture, adequate electrical outlets to recharge my gizmos, clean bed linens and comfortable bed. Smallish bathroom was clean and had adequate hot water flow. The elevator system uses a new system wherein you press a […] button in the hallway for your floor and are directed to a particular elevator door, so you don't need to press a button inside the elevator. "Check-in was awful!"
Rude, slow hotel attendants, even ruder guests. Room was clean, thermostat was broken and the room was hotter than I would've preferred.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"No Wake-up Call"
I requested a wake-up call the day before I left. I did not get the wake up call. Do not depend on the front desk for wake up calls. You can possibly miss your flight or other important events.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Milford Plaza Hotel Please accept our sincere apologies for the mishap. We do provide this service and handle hundreds each day. We deeply regret that we missed yours.
"Spring Break"
The hotel is undergoing a major renevation. There is basically no lobby, or common areas. Our check was not easy with a new person, he had trouble scanning in my credit card. Not sure why they need to hold your credit card for incidentals anyway, there is absolutely nothing of value in the rooms besides the TV. The front desk was friendly and so was […] the hotel security. Our room was tiny for 2 adults and 2 kids, 9 & 11. 2 double beds, and one small bathroom. No place to sit, other than a bed and only one person could fit in the bathroom. But the place was clean and had been recently re-done. The location and the price were the big advantages of this hotel. If you plan to be out of the room most of the time, this is a great place! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Milford Plaza Hotel We’re sorry you were disappointed with our Lobby during your stay. I’m happy to let you know that the public space renovation portion of our $150 million refurbishment is expected to be finished by Fall 2013. Upon completion, our Lobby will also be transformed into a lighter, airier space with better traffic flow and chic, urban design elements to complement our previously completed guest rooms and a permanent bar with light fare. Incidental holds are taken to cover potential wi-fi charges and in-room phone usage not included in the room rate.
"Steps away from Times Square"
The hotel was just minutes away from times square..the rooms are clean and comfortable...service was friendly...only concern is there is no direct line to front desk...???Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bare minimum"
Just enough for one night! Very small room. Renovation in process. Ikea style without the intelligent use of space. No coffee maker.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Milford Plaza Hotel We are sorry that you were disappointed that there were no coffee makers in the room. The decision not to include them was made due to space consideration as some of our smaller rooms would not be able to accommodate the coffee maker and the necessary accoutrements.
"close to all"
The hotel milford was in maintenance, the room I've stayed was small but very comfortable. The employees were very kind. The hotel location is close to everything (port authority, many shops, attractions, ...). I liked a lot staying at Milford hotel, if I go back to NYC I'd stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The location is really good, in the center of everything. The hotel is under construction. The room is done and fine, but the lobby and the public area is a mess and the refurbishing makes a lot of noice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We were in a updated room. It was clean. It was BIG by NYC standards. The bed just OK (We like firmer beds and softer pillows.) The bathroom sink never drained, the shower floor was strange and dangerous, the fixtures were cheap and coming out of the wall already. I think they could have done better.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Milford Plaza Hotel We were very sorry to learn that you were dissatisfied with your recent stay at The Milford and hope that you will accept our sincere apologies for your disappointing experience. All of our rooms were recently gut-renovated but, as a hotel that enjoys over 90% occupancy most days, our rooms get quite a work-out from our guests. I can assure you that we do have a preventive maintenance program in the hotel and regret that you were assigned a room that had the deficiencies you described. We do hope that you will return and allow us the opportunity to recapture your confidence in us.
The hotel was being renovated so I'll have to excuse the exterior and the warm temperatures in the lobby. The concierge was pleasant and helpful. I would come back for another stay when the hotel is finished with most of its renovations.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Noisy"
They've been renovating the hotel for years it seems. And you're in Times Square and the windows certainly aren't soundproof. I had trouble sleeping with all the noise.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Times Square Center"
Great location. Smallest hotel room EVER ! Definitely great if all you want is a place to rest your head for a few hours while being centrally located to EVERYTHING in Times Square and trains.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Under construction"
They are doing major renovations. It will be fabulous when complete. Although a mess and very confusing to get through the employees are plentiful and very helpful in helping guests find their way. Rooms are very small even by NY standards but the space is used efficiently. The decor is awesome, new and not to be missed! very cool space.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Tiny room, crazy check-in"
The check-in process took forever. Two clerks and 10 people lined up waiting. The lobby was overflowing with school groups and their luggage. There appeared to be 2 staff on the 1st floor, how come they were not doing some of the check-in? The queen size bed room was tiny. Quiet and nice, but really small. The bath was even smaller. Not what I expected […] for the rate. My rate did not include wifi which was fifteen dollars a day. There were rates available that did include wifi but were not offered to me. "NIce rate if you can get it - great location"
Milford is in Heart of Times Square so great if that's where you want to be and they are running specials. Room is small but plenty comfortable. Hallways are industrial and elevetors are cramped but, again, can't beat the location. I'd go again for $200 but if price went up to $250 I'd look elsewhere.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not what I expected"
The hotel was under construction but I still expected the glamour of a New York City hotel especially one that was located next to Broadway. The room were super tiny and out bathroom door couldn't even open all of the way due to the foot of the bed being in the way. During booking I arranged for a room with a city view. The room only had a city view […] if you really turned ur neck far to the side to look, other then that the straight ahead view was a brick building. The bed was supposed to be queen but was a full size instead. The doorman, although friendly, looked as though he was a bouncer in a mafia club rather then a doorman at a hotel. All in all the hotel was okay. I wouldn't not recommend it to anyone who wants simplicity but I, myself, would not stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location"
After all the emails about their 5 million dollar renovation I decided to give it a try. I'm not sure which part of the hotel was renovated but I didn't see it. I was told that the lobby should be done by May but it had a long way to go. Elevator service was extremely slow but the staff used the staff elevators to help guest up to their rooms. Location […] is great and it has lots of potential. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. I'll give them a few more months and would try again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
