"Convenient for WTC"
Our room looked over the construction site of the World Trade Center Memorial. The walk to the site is very short. If the site is not one's destination, the subway is across the street and it is only one train to Time Square or Lincoln Center. A nice hotel, especially for the rate we got it at (less than $200/night including tax). The hotel is right across from the WTC memorial and all the new construction... that could be a plus or minus I suppose. Incredibly easy access to the subway that's right out front. We requested a corner room on a high floor and the views were stunning. The room […] itself was nice. The only problem with the room was the lack of A/C. Our room faced southeast, and during a mild spring day (about 55 degrees out) the room started to bake in the sun. The A/C couldn't keep up with the heat, even with the windows closed. The fix-it guy the hotel sent up basically said "yeah, it's a huge problem with this hotel... during the winter the pipes only supply heat or ambient air, nothing cool. So if you're on a south side during the winter and it's not a cold day out, the rooms get too warm". I got the impression that the building is one of those older designs that switches over from hot to cold at a certain point of the year... who knows. Something has to happen because the room would be unlivable during the summer months without A/C. Hotel is beautiful. I had a room overlooking the 9/11 Memorial. If you don't want to spend a fortune on food in the hotel restaurant, you are just a block away from many different pubs and restaurants. "Relaxing stay at the MIllenium Hilton"
Our Christmas stay was very quiet, and we did not interact very much at all with the hotel staff. With that said, doormen. cleaning people, and front desk staff were courteous, helpful, and kind. Our room on the 28th floor had a great view of the 09-11 Memorial, the East River, and the poetry of Walt Whitman that streamed across the front window of […] the NY Transit Authority and lit up the night.
