"Trip for family"
Spent four nights at the New Yorker, shopping and seeing plays. The front desk upgraded the room when I told them it was my daughters first trip to NYC. The two restaurants in the hotel were great, one a cute diner, the other a fancier bar and grill type. Great food, expensive, but everything is.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Right across the street from Penn Station!"
This was a great spot as far as location. Times Square, Empire State, Grand Central - all within walking distance. Best of all, RIGHT across the street from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station. The room is VERY small, but most rooms in NY are. The Hotel has great history, there is a diner right next door, and great Irish pubs less than 1/2 a mile […] away. Downside: Staff were not friendly, and we had no view. Great value for the price since the hotel website lists basic rooms in the $700- $800 range! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Easy Choice"
I agonized over choosing the right hotel for a weekend trip with my 13 year old son. Couldnt afford anything too fancy, but wanted something in a decent neighborhood with nice rooms and good service. The New Yorker was in a perfect central location, right at a subway stop. Kind of a touristy area but easy to get to the real NYC. Rooms and service were […] great. I would recommend this place with no doubt or hesitation! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Unforgetable romantic stay"
Somo pros: very good location, friendly staff inded. Some cons: huge hotel with lot of customers, a little bit expensive. I stayed in a suite room that was wonderful! with beautifull view of New York and windows on three sides! quite unique! My wife love the place: it seems that we're back in time with a strong historic spirit. Nikola Tesla spent his […] last years there and the design of the whole building is the very interesting art decco. It's not my kind of hotel, because I'm more related to modern amenities than feelings, but is surelly that kind of unforgetable experience and probably will drives me back to this place to remember that good moments with my family. "Wonderful"
The hotel is just wonderful. The lobby is spectacular. The staff was very accommodating and went out of their way to help me. The room is small but normal for NYC standards. Very clean. Love the old fixtures in the bathroom. Room 10. Staff 10. Neighborhood 10. Just a wonderful place to stay in NYC. Highly recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Small Art Deco Rooms; Great Convenient Location!"
The New Yorker Hotel is in the heart of Manhattan. It has small rooms, typical of NYC. The hotel is art deco style, true to New York's history. Macy's flagship store is just 2 blocks away. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade ends at the intersection of where the hotel is located. The Empire State Building is 3 blocks away. Subway station/Penn Station […] is right outside the hotel's entrance, which is a straight shot from JFK. Central Park and all museums are just a few subway stops away. There is even a Duane Reade (Walgreen's) pharmacy kitty corner from the hotel. I will definitely stay her again, as it is a nice hotel in the heart of everything. "Great Hotel, Great location"
The New Yorker hotel was perfect for our recent trip to NYC. Just 2 blocks from Macys and 8 blocks from Times Square, we couldnt have asked for a better location. We booked Metro Rooms so knew they would be small but I was pleasantly surprised with the size and view. The bathroom was a fine size and the room was really clean. All in all it was the perfect […] hotel and I will be booking in for next years trip! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great NYC location"
Came in during hurricane Sandy, the staff did an excellent job at meeting our needs. We were delayed a day in getting there and could not contact the hotel until the actual check in date, they allowed us to cancel our first day at no expense to us. Not sure how with everything going on, but they maintained a smiling face and friendly personality throughout […] our stay even though we know they were worried about their own families. Looking forward to our next visit. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very small room, but everything else is very good."
The Hotel New Yorker is steps away from Penn Station, which is excellent for getting anywhere one needs to in New York. The rooms are very small and they don't have space for a fridge or safe, so don't plan on staying in the room for too long if that's a minus. I booked this hotel about five months prior to my trip and got about as low a rate as I think […] you could get in a Manhattan hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to Trainstation and other sights"
We got a free upgrade to a room with a spectacular view. Everything that we wanted to see was within walking distance, especially since we were in the area for 2 days. However, we should have asked from the start of any package/deals that would have made our trip a lot easier. We found it very accomodating to pay a small fee for our bagge to be stored […] after check out while viewing more sights and waiting to leave. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"very disappointing if you wanted decent rest"
All I will say is this: My mom and are not big nor are we heavy individuals, but I swear the center of each bed sunk at least a few inches into the frame. Very poor quality beds, we did not fall asleep easily, then woke up with stiff necks and backs. The room was small but clean, no extras included. Not a coffee pot, tea etc., but we could deal with […] it if it wasnt for the bedding. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"The perfect location!"
the hotel has so much character! The lobby with its Art Deco style takes me back in time. It is the best hotel if attending events at the Garden! If you are lucky you might get a room with the view of the Empire State Building. What a view!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, cramped space"
Although the hotel was in a great location and everything was very clean, the room was tiny. Barely enough room to put 2 full size bags, and still be able to walk around the bed. You are required to show your room key before you can access the area with the elevators to even go up to your room. We had a recently renovated room, and as I said it was […] clean, I wasn't overly impressed. The temperature of the water changed from freezing cold to burning hot every minute or so- when I reported it to the front desk I was told, "That's just how the showers are." So, if you plan on bathing while staying here, make it quick! The Tick Tock diner attached to the hotel had mediocre food, and less than great service. The only reason I would recommend this hotel to others is because of the phenomenal location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"great deal but small rooms"
Great Hotel. The rooms were small, but this is expected in New York. The beds were comfortable and clean. The bathrooms were a little outdated and lacked a place to put toiletries...but was clean. Our original room was disappointing. Cold wind actually blew through the window. However a very helpful staff found a way to move us to a better and very satisfactory accommodation. When I chose this motel I checked the ratings, finding the motel was highly rated I decided to make my reservations, very clean and no problems noted, since our train was sceduled to leave at 3pm they let us check out an hour later. "Great location; small room"
The lobby was very nice; the two restaurants were great - and so convenient. The location was great. Do some research on using the subways and you will save money and aggravation trying to get a taxi. The room was incredibly small; the bathroom was outdated and not very clean. "New Yorker Hotel"
Last minute trip planned to NYC with two teenagers - perfect setup at New Yorker with corner suite. Room was available upon check-in, helpful concierge, location was perfect for all attractions, Penn Station subway stop right outside. Hotel did not have overabundance of staff (i.e. bell hops), but this was perfect for us - we did not need or want service […] that would mean an overabundance of tipping.... Hotel has character and Tick Tock Diner was great. All in all, the right place at the right price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location, Great Hotel, Great Experience!"
My wife and were celebrating our 19th anniversary and didn't really plan anything special. We booked a night in The New Yorker based on its location and convenience to Times Square. We stayed between Christmas and New Years so everything was decorated for the holidays. The room was clean and comfortable. The television, though I only used it to view […] weather information, was a new LCD flatscreen. The hotal was opened in 1930, so that was a big part of the appeal to us; the historic value of the building and the well preserved Art Deco accounterments. The staff was very friendly and helpful, which seemed to fly in the face of the stereo-typical New York "attitude" I'd been anticipating. We ate in the Tick Tock diner downstairs, twice because it was so good! The only issue I had was with mouthy guests who'd had a drink or a dozen too many and wanted to play in the hallway at 3 am. Otherwise it was a great overall exprience and I'd recommend The New Yorker to anyone who wants to experience the heart of NYC. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel but not 4 stars"
This is a great hotel with good location and service based on the price but definitely not a 4 star hotel quality even though we lived in a renovated room as the bathroom is old. BTW, the staff told us that all the rooms got renovated 2 years ago when we checked in so there's no need to pay extra $20 for a renovated room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
