    Overview

    At The New Yorker Hotel, guests are just a few minutes from classic Manhattan attractions. Stepping out of this Midtown hotel, guests find themselves facing Madison Square Garden and Penn Station, both across the street. They can shop the sales at Macy’s giant flagship store, just 1 block east. Stop for a juicy burger or a fresh salad in the Cellar at Macy's. Then top their day with a visit to the Empire State Building, 1 block past Macy's. The Javits Convention Center is half a mile in the other direction. If guests are heading farther afield, they can catch the subway: The 34th Street/Penn Station stop is just outside the hotel’s entrance.     Opened in 1930 and renovated in 2007, the hotel itself is a New York classic. The big, bustling lobby retains original Art Deco fixtures like huge chandeliers and a coffered ceiling.     This hotel is geared to international travelers. From that perspective, it's well located to many tourist sites (Empire State Building, Macy's, Broadway theaters) and close to all subway lines. The rooms, while clean, are tiny (we had a metro room) and the street noise is hard to avoid. I do not know how travelers with large suitcases could walk around […] their rooms.     Bathrooms are ancient and needs to be renovated. Huge line at check-in was very unprofessional. No complementary breakfast.
