"Good, solid NY hotel"
We have stayed at 70 Park about three times and have recommended it to friends. It is centrally located and, most important, it's very quiet. 70 Park also has awesomely comfortable beds, nice rooms, and a nice staff. Their restaurant is somewhat limited in hours and offerings. I am a very picky person. I read reviews and searched long and hard for a hotel that was convienient yet at a good price. I was a little unsure what to expect bc I had read some negative reviews but let me tell you we arrived on our anniversary and they had the sweetest help there. This hotel was a pleasent surprise. Nicely appointed rooms, comfortable beds, and a free wine reception every night. Bathrooms also had nice features with a full complement of soap, shampoo, conditioner, and skin creme. An umbrella is also standard in each room along with ironing board, iron, hair dryer, bath robes for two, etc. Nice extra touches. Dissappointed […] that hotel restaurant was not open for breakfast during our stay although free coffee is offered every morning in the lobby. It is a true European style hotel and was filled with international tourists which gave it a nice cosmopolitan feel. Bellman and reservation staff were great. The location was good, on Park Ave and close to Grand Central. The staff was very friendly! We have young children and they were always greeted with high fives, and big hugs. We had got a room with two double beds and had a crib brought in for our youngest, which made it very tight quarters! The room was nice and clean just very small but that's not […] uncommon for NYC. The only thing I would say was a major downfall was the lack of sound proofing between rooms. Our neighbors weren't loud but we were kept up by them talking and I'm sure we woke them up in the morning when our baby woke up regardless of how quiet we tried to be. Also the hotel elevators were painfully slow! All in all we had a good experience with the hotel, I just wouldn't recommend it for someone who was looking to stay in a big quiet room. This was my first stay at a Kimpton hotel and I was very pleasantly surprised at how great the experience was. We arrived very early the first day and were going to drop our bags off at the hotel but when we arrived they allowed us to check in to a room early which was great after a long red-eye flight the night before. I mentioned to the front desk that this was our first time in New York and it was my wife's birthday this week, and they sent up a complimentary gift for her one night. "Great mid town hotel"
I stayed at the 70 park avenue hotel for five nights with family (kids 10 and 12 yrs). We all enjoyed our stay. Every single member of the staff we met was wonderfully friendly. Rooms were big enough for a family of four and well appointed, although wardrobe space was minimal and we would have welcomed more drawer space and more hangers as standard. […] Beds were super comfortable and guaranteed a good night's sleep. Our room was across the hall from an elevator but this never bothered us or became an issue as there was virtually no noise from the corridor. The decor throughout the hotel is dark wood and shades of brown and cream. Breakfast buffet was fantastic and our initial plan of eating breakfast elsewhere was soon abandoned in favour of the excellent buffet which we found reasonably priced too (self service and refills of coffee and juice = no need for lunch). The hotel is very conveniently located on the Park Avenue and 38th street. The hotel hosted a nightly wine reception for the guests which was very popular. The hotel's Silverleaf Bar was really good and always busy with a view of the Park Avenue. The only negative point - and I'm really being picky here - were the corridors which could do with a lick of paint and improved lighting. Stayed for 3 nights. Room was excellent although bathroom rather small. The hotel staff were very helpful and polite. The only problem was a blocked toilet in room but this was repaired within 15 mins of it being reported. Location of the hotel is ideal. "Kimpton Hotel 70 Park Avenue NY - a perfect choice"
This hotel was fantastic. I was travelling with my two daughters and we all loved it. I can't praise the staff highly enough - reception, maid service, waiting staff, porters, doormen, tourism advisor - they were all exceptionally helpful, efficient, friendly and courteous. On our last night I was quite distressed as our home in Australia was under […] threat of flood and the reception staff were so kind and supportive. (Thankfully our home was ok).
