"Great Location/Hotel, Small room w/ poor lighting"
I loved mostly everything about this hotel with the exception of the room itself. I stayed in a "cozy room" and it was definitely that. It was very tiny, which i dont mind too much, but had i been staying with another person it would have been pretty claustrophobic. Even staying alone, the main issue was how small the bathroom was and how poorly it […] was lit. It was the size of a closet, with the light of only the electric mirror which was VERY minimal, so you had to basically get ready in the dark. W Hotel on Lexington was a good choice. Prefer modern amenities and the W offers just that. Room was small, but comfortable. Bath was small as well and could use optional secondary lighting for those who need more light for make-up application and other needs. Bath was shower only which was fine, but very tiny - - could have been about 12 inches wider […] and, although rain shower fixtures are great, a hand shower fixture is more practical in a small space. "Not worth the money"
Toilet was DIRTY when we checked in - not subtle dirty. Visibly soiled. Bedding smelled terrible and we changed it on our own. Pleasant front desk staff but otherwise staff not helpful. "Room is Great but Small"
I stayed here for 3 nights. It is renovated, new, edgy. The room is small but not too small. There is room for a queen bed, two side tables, space surrounding bed to walk comfortably, desk, decent-sized closet. Bathroom has shower and great Blue products. Heating cooling system is very very loud. Switched room because first room's system was so loud […] and they upgraded me. Front desk was responsive. Gave me free breakfast plus upgrade into a slightly larger room. However, system was just as loud. (though they said no one else had complained). Minibars very expensive, so be sure to go to Duane Reade two blocks away and get your goodies and bottled water before you are in for the night and get desperate for candy. I arrived at the W at 6:30pm, I was booked for a fabulous queen size room, the young woman, was barely gracious, she was rude and put me in a room with a TV and Radio that did not work, I called no one corrected the problem. the next morning at the front desk an older gentleman was very kind and was 'shocked" they had put me in this room. so I had to […] go back upstairs , miss my first meeting, repack everything leave it in a pile in the room on the floor, as I was instructed, and when I returned at 5pm they moved me to a large nice room with working TV and radio. Why should I have to pay for a room that was not like the second room, and had a non functioning TV and radio? I am disappointed with the W hotel and expedia for representing to me the size and quality of the hotel room, and then not giving me this room as I had booked it. I usually stay at the Parker Meridien in New York, and the room was about 25% smaller than the standard rooms there, but since the price at the W was half of the PM, I decided to try the W. "Pretty Good, but EXTREMELY small room"
When you talk about a small room, this is about as small as it can get and not be considered a closet. I mean, literally.. there were 2 of us, only 1 bed, they brought a cot for free which was cool, but you had to climb OVER the main bed to open/close the window, and the TV was literally hanging OVER the bed haha. "W Lexington Ave NY - Not What it Used to Be"
I hadn't stayed at this hotel for about 10 years - back then it was new and hip. The location is great, and the bar downstairs adequate. However, I felt the room was sub-par. I stayed in a mid-grade room at the W; yet, it was quite poorly lit. Exceedingly poorly lit I should say (the front desk service person acknowledged as much during my checkout.) […] The carpet seemed to be the kind of carpet one would find in a gym locker room. The bathroom was fairly chintzy - the toilet stuck out of the wall at about a 15 degree angle, the shower wasn't fully enclosed, so water ended up on the floor. The room and hotel were clean and well maintained but the cozy room was crazy small. I had to use the toilet lid to hold my makeup and toiletries while getting ready.
