Buildings crane above one another to claim views of Central Park, a piece of real estate valued at more than $528 billion. Surprises abound in its 843 acres. The grounds include a castle, a zoo, several lakes, and an Egyptian obelisk. A city that never sleeps needs its quiet time, too: Central Park has six designated “quiet zones,” including Strawberry Fields, the monument to John Lennon.

"Perfect location for Lincoln Center!"
Nice funky little hotel in a GREAT spot right across the street from Lincoln Center. The room was small but lovely and had a retro feel to it that was fun. Definitely will stay there again. Also, the bar/lounge on the first level was a nice spot for an after-theatre drink.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best location in NYC!"
We loved our stay at the Empire. The location is simply the best in NYC for the price. The staff was courteous, friendly, and the service was exceptional. We dealt with the check in staff, concierge, doormen, and facilities (to request more towels) and everyone was fantastic. The room was small, but this is to be expected in Manhattan! Our only gripe […] is that there is no door on the shower, so taking a shower made the entire (small) bathroom a bit of a wet mess. Otherwise, we loved our stay and can't wait to come back! "Small Hotel, Excellent Location"
Just what we were looking for: excellent location near Central Park (we ran NYC Half Marathon which started 2 blocks away in the park), Lincoln Center, 2 subway stops nearby, a Starbucks and a 24 hr. convenience shop next door. Empire is a smaller hotel (elevators easy to get), friendly reception staff; the rooms could use a little sprucing up (paint, […] carpets) but decor is sleek, modern. Would have preferred free Wifi in rooms (it is free in lobby) and extra towels already in room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location"
The hotel is in a great area...shopping, dining, theater, transportation. While the hotel is upgrading the rooms....mine was very dated and needed a face-lift The common area, lobby, lounge, etc. of the hotel are very comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff at the hotel was pleasant. The room was very small. I don't believe I would stay there again. We had a difficult time finding floor space to open our suitcase. The bathroom was too small to get into. If we were large, we would not be able to shut the door.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect location - bathroom can use some rework"
We got a good deal at this hotel, so any flaws that we found were negligible. The room itself was nice, standard size for ny hotels, good sheets, no complaints. We asked for a room with a view facing outside - the only available rooms were smoking floors. The smoke scent was not as strong so we were ok with staying in the room. The view was great, we […] were able to overlook the north side of the hotel with lincoln center to our left. Our biggest complaint would be the bathroom. The sink was barely usable as there was a column right in front of it so even I (a petite woman) could not stand directly in front of it. The shower had only a half-glass stall so if you stood towards the end of the shower you would feel the cold draft. The tiling looked of cheap wood laminate as well, not too classy looking. Again, we got a good deal for the room so to us the stay was great. Location is superb. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Still Our Preferred Location at Lincoln Center"
We stayed one night again. We were upgraded to a "Corner Suite" but we asked for a quieter room, so the very nice clerk (Gunita) gave us a "Junior Double-Double," which looked out to an air shaft. Perfect! Very quiet. Spacious room. Comfortable beds. Clean throughout. In room food & drink are outrageously priced, so we don't buy any of it. Ed's Chowder […] House is in the hotel. For Lincoln Center, this continues to be our preferred hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great weekend"
Super from beginning to end, the snow storm was not a factor at all. Arrived early yet able to check in which made everything easier. Very pleasant and accommodating staff, totally professional. Room was small yet clean and since we were hardly in our room, not an issue. No noise from adjoining rooms. Lobby/bar area in evening was very loud. Location, […] location, and location, access to public transport, access to Lincoln Center could not have been better. Would stay there again if attending opera. "Great West-Side Location"
Wonderful location! I recall the Empire Hotel from its old days.... the revamping of the hotel is really lovely, pity the owners left in place in each room an airconditioning/heating system from the dark ages. The room was nicely decorated, but small and the bathroom tiny, but the shower was fabulous. The door to the bathroom should be removed or be […] a sliding door. The staff, particularly the Doormen and Housekeeping (especially Scott, whom I believe is a Housekeeping Manager) were outstanding. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect for Lincoln Center"
Great location - very nice contemporary hotel with nice amenities. Staff service was excellent. Room was clean and comfortable but first floor offered a poor view of adjoining rooftop. Convenience to Columbus Circle and Lincoln Center cannot be beat.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel"
The service was friendly and alternative. A little crowded if you go on the weekend but that's due to the club and restaurant. Great location with the Lincoln Center being directly across the street. I would definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"perfect upper west side hotel"
Loved: style of hotel, the view out the north side is terrific, great bath products, just a couple blocks from nice jogs, walks in the park, close to museums (tons of them), shopping (FAO, Apple, Columbus Circle), great food, lincoln center, public transit, easy to get a cab. Liked: the restaurant is good (but not great), although the style is lovely. […] Not quite: one of our rooms showed a little wear, the bathrooms are nice but really small (although the rainshower makes up for that), rooms along the columbus side were a little noisier with traffic, had some problems with the quality of help from housekeeping/front desk. All that said, the value of the hotel is outstanding, would stay here again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"sphisiticated coziness"
An absolute favorite, the Empire offers the chi-chi swank of a boutique with none of the pretension. The views of Lincoln Center are stunning and the location is just enough removed from the frenzy to be serene yet one never feels isolated. Delightful, warm staff who actually smile!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Will be back!"
Great hotel. Great location. Convenient to everything, and while rooms are small, like all NYC hotels, they are well appointed and I still had plenty of space. I enjoyed the fitness center, as well, and will book again on future trips!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wonderful service from arrival to departure."
Our stay was great the only down fall was that we were on the 3rd floor and it was noisy at 1 am, 2 am and 4 am. Not inside noise it was outside noise! Not a great night sleep next time I would ask for a higher floor. Otherwise I enjoyed my stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, meh service"
It took me forever to get delivery of an ironing board, ended up losing sleep over it just so I could have an ironed shirt in the morning. The room was typical NY tiny, but had all the basics. Great Lincoln Center location with UWS access and easy to walk to meetings in midtown east. didn't get to run in Central park, but would have been great for […] that. "very central location"
Booked into this hotel at last minute upon arriving in New York for 4 nights. Very close to Central Park, subway close by. Hotel restraurant had plenty of choices and food was lovely. A lot of good restaurants, shops and theatres close by. We had 3 rooms, 1 very large by NY standards, 1 tiny (was moved later to larger room) one standard NY. Hotel would […] benefit from double glazing as very noisy in rooms, but ear plugs worked 2 night on. Would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Frequent visitor"
I make infrequent business trips to New York. My work involves Lincoln Center or CBS a lot and the Empire is affordable and walking distance from both. I also eat many evening meals at the Empire Hotel. I have been well served by the hotel staff on every visit. I have been staying at the Empire for 25 years.Genuine Expedia guest review
