    Been to Regency many times before. Some of their Doormen and bellmen are first rate, others are indifferent. Restaurant and bar staff are first rate.... Although they went through a restoration several years ago, some of the rooms and furniture are starting to show wear signs. Their self-service business center is too small and not overly user friendly if you need to print documents.     Was very surprised how "worn" the hotel was for a Loews. Room are in serious need up updating and new furnishings. Bathrooms were very outdated...and the room furniture felt very "lived in" and in some cases even broken! (torn lamp shades, broken drawers, ripped upholstry) Also...I have never stayed in a 4+ star hotel where you can see the uncovered […] box springs of the bed. On the plus side...the room was clean (as you can get a well worn room) and oversized with adequate closet space. Overall...a 3 star experience and 4 star pricing. Read more

    Sadly, I was disappointed in our second stay at Lowes. The staff was superb but the room was disappointing. There was a large stain on the carpet at the foot of the bed that must have been a pet stain. I assume it was recent as it was still moist.     The doorman are aloof and not helpful. Nobody looked to help me as I got out of my town car with my luggage until I was already in the lobby. They then asked to help and I said that I could take it from here. They must be union employees with no fear of getting fired and no chance of being singled out for exceptional performance. They act like they […] could care less. This is a great first impression of a hotel. The hotel also tries to rip you off with internet service and they blame it on their vendor, like they didn't choose their vendor. First of all WIFI should be free at a 4 star hotel at these prices. First they charge you $15 a night. Then rather than that covering you for a 24 hour period as is customary, the front desk told me that it was measured from noon to noon. In other words, if you sign on at 11 AM for $15 and sign on again two hours later at 1PM you are charged again for $15. How slimey. I complained to the front desk clerk who was a cold hearted, non smiling Eastern European woman who showed me a sliver of paper that stated this policy. I showed her the printed information card on the hotel internet policy which I found on my desk in my room which supported my contention. After arguing for 5 more minutes, she reluctantly reversed the charge for the second $15 charge. Life is too short to put up with this attitude at these prices. I'm sure that the Tisch family is too smart to run a business like this. It must be their general manager trying to push profitability so he gets a bigger Christmas bonus.It could also be no training program for employees or maybe they are the aforementioned union employees who behave like they work at the DMV.     Enjoyed the Upper East Side location. The hotel is near two subway stops that make getting around Manhattan quick and easy. Catching a cab is also fast since the hotel is located on Park Avenue. The neighborhood does seem to lack restaurants especially for breakfast, eating at the hotel is expensive and the food is average. Breakfast service there was […] good but the evening diner service was terrible.     Got in late; great customer service. Left my cell phone in the car through valet parking, They went to the garage to recover and return to me at 1AM when I discovered I forgot it after checking in. Hotel very helpful in locating food, events for us. Great Job!

    I found to accommodations to be mediocre and management was terrible. My key stopped working so I used the hallway phone to request that somebody bring a new key up to me. I waited for 30 minutes (I was exhausted after a 17 hour work day and did not want to head back down). Finally, I went down to the lobby and spoke to the manager about why they had […] not sent somebody up. Even though I was very calm and polite (due to my extreme exhaustion) the manager continually spoke over me and actually began to shout at me. He was one of the least friendly or accommodating people I have ever encountered. Eventually what he explained to me was that they were too busy to send my key up, even though they told me on the phone that they would, and there were literally 5 people just standing around. He was perfectly happy to let me sit in the hallway waiting. I got a new key, went to my room, packed my things and checked out immediately. I then checked into the intercontinental (which was amazing in comparison). I would never stay at this hotel again, the mattresses are uncomfortable, the showers have awful pressure, and management is horrible. I disliked it so much that even in my exhausted state, I got up and switched hotels. Read more
