Buildings crane above one another to claim views of Central Park, a piece of real estate valued at more than $528 billion. Surprises abound in its 843 acres. The grounds include a castle, a zoo, several lakes, and an Egyptian obelisk. A city that never sleeps needs its quiet time, too: Central Park has six designated “quiet zones,” including Strawberry Fields, the monument to John Lennon.

Very happy with it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
we had a room with 2 double beds. I could see a room with one bed is would be really too small. The beds were very comfy, the room was quiet but we were on the 10th floor. Lower rooms on the street probably wouldn't be. The decor was a bit gloomy, brown and gold. Very good overall.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great neighborhood, enjoyable stay"
My mother and I took a girls trip to New York and really enjoyed our stay at the Lucerne. The location is fantastic, close to Central Park. The subway stop is a block away and gives easy access to Times Square area. The hotel was clean and service was good. One day our room was cleaned very late, but other than that we had no complaints. We had a suite […] with two queen beds, and it was spacious for New York. Good restaurants in the area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Classy hotel, great location"
The Lucerne is perfectly located for pedestrian access to Central Park, the American Museum of Natural History, the Hadley Planetarium, and the red and blue lines of the subway. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable, and the restaurant is first rate. There are many other excellent restaurants within a short walk of the hotel. This is not a budget […] hotel, but it offers great value. We'll be back! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fun in the City"
We had a wonderful visit at the Lucerne! The staff was lovely and very accommodating. The location is terrific for seeing the city. It's far enough from the crowds but close enough to walk or hop in a cab to broadway and museums.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel!"
It was a great neighborhood with easy access to the subway. Plus it was one of the few hotels that had rooms with 2 double beds.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Delighted with Lucerne"
We were visiting NY from Rhode Island to hear a Philharmonic concert. The hotel is so convenient to Lincoln Center, the best stay we have had for this purpose by far. Two subway stops and you are there. We only wish that the hotel bar was opened later at night for after concert drinks with friends, but this of course is NY and we were able to find suitable […] places for this elsewhere. "Best on Upper West Side"
We have stayed at the Lucerne every year since 2003 and it has consistently been clean and the staff always has a warm welcome. It's just two blocks away from the Hayden Planetarium and the Natural History Museum. Nice Matin restaurant is adjacent to the hotel and there are numerous other restaurants within a ten minute or less walk from the hotel. […] Additionally, there is a a CVS pharmacy across the street and just five minutes away is Zabars market on Broadway. The subway entrance is located a three minute walk away on Broadway and 79th. street with trains both north bound and south to Times Square and beyond. We highly recommend this hotel. "Repeat visit"
this was my second visit to this hotel, and I highly recommend it. The only criticism I have is that there is no mini bar and no room service. there are stores in close proximinty, but it would be nice to get a complimentary bottle of water and have a bottle of wine and snacks for purchase in the room. The staff is very attentive!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Lovely Room & Great Location!"
From the minute we arrived, the staff at the Lucerne was fabulous -- kind, forthcoming and ready to help. The Concierge was able to book us on a bus tour within ten minutes of our arrival! The room was gorgeous (small, but OK, its NYC!) with a lovely bath and VERY comfortable beds. Everything new, clean and attractive. It was somewhat noisy but at 79th […] and Amsterday, you get the BEST nieghborhood for subway connections, diners, wine bars and overall upper west side ambience. Loved it! "A little gem west of the park"
The staff at the Lucerne are quite lovely, and our room vastly exceeded expectations in terms of size and quality for the price paid. We thought we'd get a "bijou" room, typical in affordable Manhattan hotels, but it was large and very well furnished. A quick walk to the park and museums and subways. I'll definitely stay again when I need to be in […] Manhattan. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Lucerne made New York perfect."
We were in New York during the blizzard, what a great time. The hotel staff checked us out then back in when all flights were grounded. We used the day to visit close by museums and a great local pub two blocks down. The Lucerne's location was perfect for everything we wanted in New York. We will be back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Very Nice Upper West Hotel"
We only stayed one night but we found the hotel quite acceptable. The lobby and staff were very helpful and efficient. I really appreciated the fact that the lobby was well-guarded and a sign said no non guests could go up to the rooms between 11 pm and 8 am. The rooms were clean but could definitely use remodeling and sprucing up. But our room was […] clean and comfortable. Still, the decor looked circa 1970s or 80s. I had just returned from London and Paris and the Lucerne's room were no match for the new plumbing and decor I found there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely room, helpful staff, great neighborhood"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the staff was attentive, responsive, knowledgable, and helpful. The room was comfortable, beautifully decorated, had plenty of drawer and closet space, and a spotless bathroom with a real bathtub. "Can't Be Beat"
My wife and I are only occasional visitors to the Big Apple, but we have come to like staying on the upper West side when we are there because of its many fine restaurants, real life ambience, and nearness to museums, park and other attractions. And now we have found our hotel. The Lucerne was very reasonably priced, rooms were ample and comfortable […] (best matress I have slept on in a hotel that I can remember). It was nice to not have to pay for internet and have a coffeemaker in the room. Staff was most friendly and tried to accommodate us in our most preferred setting, which included a ninth floor view in two directions. Every person on the staff, and I mean every, had a great customer attitude. Only problem experienced was a confustion in the menu for the French restaurant, Nice Matin, next door, which is in some ways the hotel restaurant. Information was out of date, but management was glad to have it pointed out, and it may have been a problem only for our room's brochure and not hotel-wide. So the Lucerene will be it for us, as long as it doesn't get too expensive when people realize how good it is. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to Central Park"
We enjoyed our stay immensely. We were able to walk across Central Park to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The subway station was about 3 blocks away to access other parts of NYC. Certainly recommend this boutique hotel. We stayed in the queen suite room. Bath was a little too small for comfort but otherwise everything was excellent. We would return.
