The Lucerne is very well-located, one short block to the subway, and is clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and very responsive (we asked for extra towels following a late-evening arrival, and they sent up more than we asked for right away). While the bathroom was updated and very clean, the room furnishings are a bit fusty […] -- heavy window treatments and the like -- and could use updating. "A good place to stay in Uptown West"
When we arrived to our room, the room was not made. The linens were folded on top of the unmade bed and the shower had no curtain so we called the reception and they moved us to another room. "Overnight stay"
We stayed in The Lucerne for one night after an opera visit. The service was very good and the room clean and comfortable. For those with little experience in NYC, we booked a superior room. I haven't seen the regular room in this hotel, but I know the shoeboxes in other hotels. So, this category was definetly worthwhile the higher costs. The only (minor) […] complaint was that the top sheets came late (but they came and were still warm from the dryer). The Lucerne has a lovely staff and a terrific location - the 79th St. crosstown bus is right there, the Bway IRT a block away, great food and shopping options nearby. We really enjoyed our recent stay and found the hotel quiet, comfortable, friendly, and the location was great - easy access to subway (1 block away), buses. "Great Older Style Hotel in a Terrific Location"
Excellent hotel with friendly competent staff. Rooms are furnished in Empire Style furntiure which looks a bit dated but well maintained. The location couldn't be better with a nice resaonable French restaurant on site. The shower in my room was like a fire hose and that was a big plus.
