Buildings crane above one another to claim views of Central Park, a piece of real estate valued at more than $528 billion. Surprises abound in its 843 acres. The grounds include a castle, a zoo, several lakes, and an Egyptian obelisk. A city that never sleeps needs its quiet time, too: Central Park has six designated “quiet zones,” including Strawberry Fields, the monument to John Lennon.

Appalling customer service. During our stay, one brand-new Bose headset (MIE2i, around $140) was subtracted from the room. This was disquieting enough, in a four star hotel. We notified housekeeping and the manager, only to receive elusive answers; when confronted with the issue again, on the day preceding our departure, a new manager assured us that […] the hotel could take no responsibility for the missing object and would only offer to call the police on our behalf, so we might file a report. From this point on, things became quite unpleasant: they said the police would take at least 5 hours to arrive (helpful NYPD officers from the 20th Pct were at the scene in less than 30 minutes, and the theft report was filed on Nov. 22, 2012) and, in what was clearly an effort to keep us away from the front desk, added that it might even take the officers one full day to show up. Unbelievably, when we said we might take our complaint to the front desk again, in plain view of other guests, this manager threatened to call the police on us! We ended up filing a report with the NYPD 20 Pct on Nov 22. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Don't Go"
Locked out off room because neither of 3 staff members we confirmed late check-out with entered it in the computer; there was a dog on the floor despite the no pets policy; staff was totally uncooperative in resolving problems.Genuine Expedia guest review
"GREAT BREAKFAST!"
THE PARKING WAS HORRIBLE. THE PARKING LOT ACROSS FROM THE HOTEL DID NOT ACCOMODATE OVERNIGHT GUEST!! AS A RESULT WE HAD TO TRAVEL BLOCKS TO ANOTHER LOT!! THE BELLMAN GAVE CONFUSING DIRECTIONS.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lucerne - small rooms not queenly!"
Hotel is in a great location and has nice amenities....BUT don't get the queen room -- it is too small. Had room on 2nd floor with a view of an alley and metal bars on the window with loud air conditioner. Only stayed one night...so it was tolerable. Very disappointing after reading so many glowing reviews.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"bit disappoiting"
The hotel room is rather small, and not updated, especially for bathroom. The front desk staffs were just ok. I would look for other hotels for this price. In sum, the area is quite nice, but not the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
