The hotel is near the Park and was a bargain - but do not stay here if you need or expect a ton of excess space or large beds - I had a very comfortable full size bed and the room was efficient for my needs- I was in town for a work trip. The bathroom has an AMAZING SHOWER we're talking 5 heads here - but like most things in NY, it was about the utilization […] of space. The elevators were small but worked efficiently and the hotel had a very modern feel to it. I was in room that faced the alley and it was warm so I had the window open and it was somewhat loud at night - (I'm guessing it was from the AC/heating unit of 5 other rooms - below, beside and above me. The staff were very helpful and professional and courteous. The surrounding neighborhood had a good amount of small but inexpensive restaurant/coffee opportunities and you could walk to the Park as well as the MOMA from the hotel. I would definitely stay here again in traveling to NY but do NOT be surprised by the fact that the room is small and there is an extreme utilization of space. Read more

This was a bad choice of a hotel. We had a TINY room with an even smaller closet. The bed was right next to the bathroom door. The bathroom sink reminded me of what is on airplanes--a small metal bowl that splashes water everywhere. The only thing that was decent was the shower--it was large. The towels were pathetic--rough and thin. I asked for 4 bath […] towels so we could take a shower before our evening party and another in the morning, but was told they didn't have enough towels. I could only have two, but I could call the front desk in the morning after the laundry was delivered to get two more. I lobby was just a front desk and the bar area was designed to be something out of Star Trek -- strange looking low chairs and mood lighting. Not my style. Although conveniently located, the hotel could use a huge makeover. We won't stay there again. Read more

The Location is Great. BUT - if you get to the hotel -also if it is 27'F and snow all over, there is NO coffee or something Hot to drink, Lobby send me 1.5 block away to walk and get hot coffee. Extra small ,blood on comforter, shower didn't work, heat in bathroom didn't work, dusty and had to beg for ice! Location is near 5th ave but a $9 cab to time square. Got a penthouse "upgrade" because of all the other issues, but the penthouse was the same size but had 200sq ft outside overlooking dumpsters!

We got to NY a lil' early and luckily the hotel had a room ready, so we were able to check in early with complimentary champagne at the front desk. Hotel is very modern looking, very nice. Super friendly staff plus impeccably clean room. All the strategic subway stations are within a 5-min walk. Only downside is that the heater in the room kept making all these strange noises when on, not sure if it was just my room or the overall heating system.

Very good value for hotel near theater district and Time Square. One block from MoMa. Had a very faint whiff of smoke smell. Desk clerks were very nice. They messed up my reservation but immediately fixed it, no hassles. Bellhops were a little rude when I wanted to load my own bags on the cart when checking out. Upon arriving at the Shoreham hotel, we were greeted with champagne to drink while we were checked into the hotel. It was a pleasant suprise, and even more suprising is that the room we had booked was gone and we were upgraded to a penthouse suite. Happiness ensues and my wife and I ascend the elevators to the 11th floor and this is what we discovered. 1) […] The room, while being a penthouse suite, was still fairly small with limited seating capacity. 2) The drain on the bathtub was broken, which meant we couldn't take a bath (Showers were fine) 3) The decor was modern but left very little counter space in the bathroom for toiletries. 4) The balcony was nice, but it was in December so it did not see much use, and the view was just other buildings. Another note that we found was that breakfast (Continental) was not free and in fact cost $17. In my opinion, that price is exorbitant for a continental breakfast. Otherwise our stay was nice, the staff were exceedingly friendly and we had a great time in NYC. I cannot say enough praise about the location of the Hotel, as it is literally a short walk from a large number of attractions. Read more

I stay in New York often. This week I took a room at The Shoreham which was listed as 4 star by Expedia. It was a horrible stay! It began with the inattentive front desk that gave me keys to an occupied room when I checked in. Next, I waited a full 40 minutes for a bucket of ice after having to remind them twice. Doors slam at all hours. At 8:20AM the […] maid knocked and woke me to ask me when I wanted the room cleaned! I told her I was checking out at 11AM. Room had no view and heat/air were a single unit controlled like a motel. Positive was the shower. Always great hot water and great water pressure. Although the room was small. Your not there to spend time in the room. Location is top your 3 blocks from the park, 1 block from 5th ave, 1 block from the subway. The only thing I suggest is that you not choose the Hotel's car to the airport. The service is 25 dollars higher than Yellow Cab which is a flat 52.50 to JFK. Rooms are truly small. Small shelf desk is provided, but no desk chair (?) Has an oversized massage chair but that doesn't make up for the discomfort and inconveniences. Room was in need of a good dusting. Bathroom has Aveda amenities, but only one washcloth provided, two bath towels. And! no place to hang your towel after shower (um, drop it on the […] floor?), very thin shelf space for personal items. If you like how your workout tones your body, you'll enjoy the full wall-sized mirror in the shower/tub. Biggest problem is that smoke from other rooms/floors comes into the rooms via the vents. The hotel was at a good location for walking to Times Square and Central Park. The room was cozy, clean and morden. It was on the second floor so my window view was the air-conditioning unit, it didn't matter because I didn't cone to stay in my room.

While the room was a bit small, the bed was super comfortable and we loved the shower. The location of the hotel is perfect, close to 5th Avenue and Central Park. We will definitely stay at this hotel again. We also liked the complementary capuccino and tea. Overall a really nice boutique hotel for a great price.

The hotel was very well designed/decorated, and the room was clean and comfortable. Hotel staff were very accommodating - included a free bag check from 11 (when we checked out) until 5:30 that evening, giving us the option of leaving our bags while we went to see a show. We'll definitely go back!

This is a four star hotel with no doorman. Staff behind the front desk was at best, rude. A vaccuum cleaner was left in the hallway for at least 24 hours by the cleaning staff. Machine for complimentary coffee was out of decaf. Bed was soft and lumpy. Only good thing was a walk in shower. Would never stay here again

Staff was great and friendly, the only issue we had was there was no refrigerator or microwave available for use. If someone is paying that much money to stay in a room they should have both of these items available. Get rid of the payable refrigerator and use that space for what people need.
