It is NYC, so expect it to be cozy, not spacious. Bathroom is tight, bed space is fine, temp is too hot and you cannot adjust it other than opening the window to traffic. We read many reviews before we booked our weekend stay in NYC, especially because rooms were expensive. We decided on Travel Inn because of price and reviews were average. Reviews all stated worth the money and would stay again-- whic is certainlt true. The room was "normal" size which was shocking, many hotel ib city are so tiny, the room was furnished […] with older bedspread, but it had a microwave and a small fridge. The workers were very friendly and professional. I didn't realize, but if you book in warmer temps, there is a great outdoor pool- This is no Ritz (which I have stayed) but it more than met my needs. Did I mention you also park you car on premises for no additional charge!? We live right in Jersey, but really wanted feel of mini-vacation and we were both pleased! Read more

For the price you pay for this hotel with free parking (unlimited in and out) is too good to be true. We stayed there 2 two nights and saved lots of money and time. Had a problem w/ the toilet which was fixed immediately. The mentioned microwave and refrigerator were not in the room.Only real complaint was no mat in tub; slippery! But the room was fairly spacious for New York. Check out the Cake Boss Cafe outside the Port Authority!

Other than location and parking there is nothing good about this hotel. Small rooms outdated decor. Apparently we were booked into the hotel's sauna instead of hotel room. After turning the heat completely off there was only a slight change on temperature. I headed for the front desk to complain. Older hotel, but well kept. GREAT deal for a 42nd Street hotel. Will definitely stay there again. A little noisy, but for the price I'll take it all day. Can't beat the FREE PARKING! Two 1/2 block walk to subway, around the corner from Times Square. Deli next door serves a great breakfast.

After handing in my ticket to retrieve my car, they forgot about me for 15 minutes. I approached them to inquire and they handed me my keys. I was told to get it myself. Our family has stayed at this hotel several times. The only complaints are that the rooms are always hot and its loud. Noise from the street is loud, and sometimes noise from other rooms are distracting. This time it was just noise from the street. Aside from those things, its perfect for our quick trips to NYC. That might be our favorite feature. That and the fact that the value is almost unbeatable. When its the cold season, we pack summer gear to sleep in there. We stayed one night the week after Hurricane Sandy. We had a room overlooking 42nd street I loved the view but it was noisy so a bit of a trade off. I thought the hotel was very convenient and nicely done for a 3 star. My only complaint was that when I made an enquiry to the front desk staff regarding transport to the airport (I was concerned wrt the […] gas shortage and traffic restrictions post-Sandy) and was given clearly erroneous information. The clerk suggested I take a private car for $100 when the flat rate for a taxi is $52+tolls, and other car services are similar price. They were quite insistent that this was the best option and a taxi would charge me more so it was clear there was some sort of scam/kickback being pushed here. I noted many of the other guests were foreign and they might be duped by this suggestion. I am a frequent traveler to NYC and knew better so was quite disappointed. The next morning I got a taxi no problem and paid the usual flat rate. Read more

I stay here for New York Comic Con, as it's one of the cheapest and closest hotels to the Javits Center, and you absolutely can't beat the free parking. The staff was friendly and the room was clean, though the decor leaves a little to be desired. On this visit, my room was on the 42nd St. side of the building, which was somewhat noisy as it overlooks […] a night club, but it's NYC, so I can't really complain there. They're renovating the elevators, so only one was working, which was only a minor inconvenience. If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive hotel close to Times Square or the Javits Center, and aren't really worried about the appearance of the place, the Travel Inn might be up your alley. Windows were broken, air conditioner was 1950's vintage and worked like it was 60 years old - noisy and thin walled - heard entire conversation in next room.
