Other than location and parking there is nothing good about this hotel. Small rooms outdated decor. Apparently we were booked into the hotel's sauna instead of hotel room. After turning the heat completely off there was only a slight change on temperature. I headed for the front desk to complain. They sent someone up to literally show us how turn the […] knob from right to left. They opened up a window and gave us a box fan. Went out for a few hours expecting the room to have cooled it did not. Since it was late and we planning on leaving early we swet it out literally. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not worth it - spend $20 more for a better place"
Windows were broken, air conditioner was 1950's vintage and worked like it was 60 years old - noisy and thin walled - heard entire conversation in next room. Dingy room, awful decor, small, cramped and old bathroom. Elevators in bad need of maintenance/repair. Not satisfied at all. Wish I had spent the extra $20 for a better hotelGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very poor service in the front office. Staff wasnt friendly at all. Room was not well maintained. In a nutshell, dont think it was worth the asking price. I have stayed in much better hotels in NY.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to NYC Times Square"
the hotel is located in a great location if you are looking to stay near by most of the places of interest in NYC. The parking garage is safe and very convinient. The rooms need upgrading. the beds are very uncomfortable. i didn't see much of houseekeping personnel for the size of the hotelGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"It was like an old motel, not a hotel."
1. The room I had did not have an outside window. My window was to the hallway, so I was never able to open my drapes unless I wanted people to see into my room. It was like staying at an old motel. 2. For room service you have to pay separately and it comes in paper bags. They let you know they perfer cash, but will reluctantly take credit. 3. The […] internet service is inconsistent and you have to get a new code every day. This caused a few problems with my email service. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A dump in a very good location"
Bsically it's a 50s style motel in midtown. Pictures on site are VERY flattering and don't really represent condition. Room supposed to be non-smoking but it wreaked of stale cigarettes plus there was an ash tray in the room. I don't recommend this hotel and would never stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Sirens, jack hammers, and disco nights"
The rooms facing the street were very noisy. It is next to a police station and a construction zone. There is a new dance club that has opened across the street to add to the din. The first room that they put us in reeked of cigarettes and the whole hotel had a dingy smell. The front desk people were not welcoming. The location was convenient.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Travel Inn NY-- Not very good"
The hotel is old, fairly well maintained, but in a poor location at the west end of 42nd Street. The room was hot with no air conditioning, only a fan for outside air. If you open the window (definitely necessary) you get the noise from 42nd st (one of the busiest streets in the city). Not far from the hotel is Holland House (a homeless shelter) which […] adds a certain experience to the stay (panhandling, etc.) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Never got the internet to work, so I had to walk all over to find a place with internet - eventually found a Starbucks! Asked the front desk to call a cab, which they did not do, so I had to walk up to the street and hail a cab, so get to the airport! Room not very clean, had a funny smell. Will definitely NOT stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Problems with Housekeeping!"
We were due to check out a noon. Went to breakfast at 9am, came back 45 minutes later, and one of the two beds were made. Did we get dirty sheets from the last guests? The front desk stated "We will make up the room them tear it apart again after checkout". I don't believe them at all. No hotel does this - unless you are paying $1000 a night to have […] a personal housekeeper to run around behind you. Housekeeping walked into the room while we were there without knocking on 3 different occasions. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Could be a lot worse, but it wasn't that great!!"
Location, location, location....this was the primary reason for picking this hotel. The room was tiny, and the bed was old and small. The bathroom was tiny and I could hardly sit to use the toilet since it was wedge between the wall and shower door. I don't know how it is possible, but my room had a wall that face out into the hallway that was half […] glass...so the noise traveled clearly into my room. Not ideal. The internet was great during the day and even in peak evening time, but to my surprise, always went to technical difficulties during the night? I wonder why? The other reason for picking this hotel was the free parking. I would stay here again if I had too, but I would real consider staying 5kms away just to have the luxury of a Queen Bed, with a full bedroom where my bed did not touch all 4 corners, and a bathroom that allowed for me to use the facilities without having to be in the shower to use the toilet!!! "Travel Inn in need of some updates"
Arrived at 6:30pm & asked for list of broadway shows/theatres as still time to get rush tickets. The man pointed to rack against wall & muttered something. They only had a few & no NYTimes paper which would list them all. We managed to find a theatre on our own. Getting to room is an ordeal. The elevator from lobby only takes you to the 3rd floor (but […] has numbers to 6 but I guess you can't get to the rooms) & we were on 7 so had to change elevators. kind of inconvenient. when leaving always take the stairs down, you will exit on 43rd. When trying to sleep the 1st night, couldn't. Had rowdy guys next door, hanging out in front of room laughing, yelling. Told them to go in at 3 & to be quiet. They went in but weren't quiet. Called front desk & was told someone would come up. They didn't. Called again & again, they wouldn't answer the phone. Complained the next day at front desk, they said "you should have called" which I told them I did on numerous times. they had no response. luckily the guys had checked out. Sheets/pillow cases on bed had makeup stains (or were they just never washed??). Ugh! Bathroom had place for kleenex but was empty. I pulled it out so was hanging to remind maid but maid didn't fill it. I noticed boxes on her cart so got a box & filled it myself. Day before left I asked the front desk if hard to get cab in front & what cost was toJFK (I know it is $45). He said there is no flat rate, it is metered & could cost $65-75 + toll. He must have a scheme going w/ non-union cabs. The NYC cabs have flat rates to the airport. Make sure you only take those. Oh, it states they have a pool, but you can't use it. it wasn't heated & the doors were closed. And could only find ice on one floor. Lots of choices to eat on 9th, one block away. "Travel Inn-needs climate control update"
The room I was given was an inside room - no window to the outside, only window to hallway. Room was very hot, in spite of it being Fall outside. I complained and maintenance came and fiddled with system. Room stayed hot; I finally demanded another room, and got a room with a window to outdoors. This room was also very hot, and keeping the window open […] for the remainder of my stay (2 days) hardly cooled it off. Could not sleep; and with window wide open, street noise was annoying. Other accommodations were commensurate with room price - but without being able to sleep, it's hard to enjoy your stay. Hotel needs to modernize it's climate control system so each room has individually controllable heating/cooling. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location and room are great; don't expect anything in the way of good service"
The reason I chose this hotel was its location and free parking garage. Before arriving, I called the hotel to find out how long guests were permitted to leave their cars in the garage after check-out time. I was pleased to discover that guests can use the garage until 4 p.m., and I planned my day accordingly. When I confirmed this with the front desk […] the morning I checked out, I was informed that vehicles can remain until 3 p.m. I stated that I had been told otherwise and planned by day according to this time frame, but the concierge was unapologetic and inflexible. I was disappointed with the service, and angry that I had to rush my day in NYC in order to accommodate their inconsistent policies. I was very pleased with the customer service representative who elected not to charge me the normal $6 fee for the wireless password that I requested at 4 a.m., since I was checking out the following day. However I am still left disappointed with the service because of the more important issues I had with the parking garage. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Very disappointing! This was relatively expensive, and really lousy considering the cost. The room was small and uncomfortable, smelled funny, and had no thermostat to control temperature. We stayed there two nights and the first night froze under a blanket that was the cheapest, thinnest piece of polyester I have ever seen. Also the layout of the hotel […] was weird (required two elevators to get to our room on the 4th floor). I would definitely advise you to find somewhere else to stay. "Travel Inn - good location, unfriendly staff"
We were travelling on a low budget so we decided to stay at the Travel Inn for 4 nights. The hotel was clean and the location is pretty awesome, only a 4 minute walk to the Times Square, subway, restaurants etc. Unfortunately the staff was not very friendly, I never saw them smile or hear them say "you're welcome". Also we had a room which was really […] loud, not because of the traffic but the elevator. After the second night of insomnia I asked for another room, and after a little discussion with the management I got another, even bigger room which was very quiet. In the first room the shower knobs didn't work properly so the one for the hot water was really hot after a few seconds. We burnt our fingers and had to use a towel to turn the water off again. Since it was winter, we didn't use the pool, but it looked clean. You have the possibility to store your luggage after check-out which was really nice. All in all, if you're travelling on a low budget and only stay a few nights, I'd recommend this hotel. You should only ask for a very quiet room, nothing next to the elevators. The staff didn't leave a professional impression, but still we got everything we asked for. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location, but extremely unhelpful and rude staff!!!"
I would have definatly recommened this hotel as the the location is perfect and for good money! Unfortunatly the extremely rude staff changed this! When we first arrived at the hotel, we was not welcomed in anyway, no hello or even a smile. I was literally asked "Last name?" He then threw me a piece of paper and pen, with no explanation, so I just assumed […] I had to read and sign, his next words were 'Room 514' and with that threw the keys at me. Lastly. on our last day, we went down to reception at 9.30am with all our luggage. We asked if we could book a taxi for 7pm that evening, she ask how many bags, and after looking at them, booked us a taxi. Our taxi lady arrived, to then tell us that our luggage would not fit in her taxi. I explained to the receptionist that we had pre booked this and warned them the amount of luggage we had at the time. The man at the desk simply shrugged his shoulders and told me there was nothing he could do. I asked him if he would ring for another taxi to come, big enough to carry all of us, he simply replied that their was no larger taxi available. I then polite asked for a compromise, 'two small taxi for the price of one', as this was clearly not out fault, and time was now ticking! Again he did not wish to help, and proceeded to tell me that there was no way his receptionist would have booked this taxi for this amount of luggage. In the end we were told to flag down our own taxi (whilst it was pitch black, pouring with rain and all our luggage! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Hotellet ligger centralt.Vi fick gå genom ett garage för att komma till rummet. De hade stängt av värmen på hela hotellet så där var väldigt kallt.Rummet ligger i en loftgång. Dörren till rummet är otät vilket gjorde att rummet kyldes ner ytterligare. "VERY basic and not too friendly"
The location is the main thing about this hotel. Hell's Kitchen is full of restaurants. The rest is basic and suitable for students or if your budget won't allow more. Staff was not always very friendly and looked bored. We were sleeping in the building that can be reached through the garage. Anyone looking like a tourist can go up there, you don't […] need a pass/key. Bring earplugs, walls are thin. This is also why I would recommend asking for a room away from the elevator, people chatting while coming out of the elevator sound like they are in your room. All in all no news for a NY hotel.
