You'll follow in the footsteps of U.S. presidents, heads of state, socialites, and celebrities when you enter the Waldorf Astoria New York's opulent lobby. As you pass through the Park Avenue entrance, stop to admire the circular Art Deco floor mosaic created in 1931 by French artist Louis Rigal.
The Waldorf's lobby is home to some of New York's most celebrated restaurants and lounges. Peacock Alley is renowned for its extravagant brunch, and Oscar's American Brasserie specializes in the Eggs Benedict - a dish, by most accounts, that was invented at this hotel. Rub elbows with the city's elite at Bull and Bear Steakhouse's mahogany bar, or sample a steak. Room service is available 24-hours a day.
If you're lucky enough to attend an event in the Grand Ballroom, you'll encounter a regal recreation of the Court Theater in Versailles, large enough to accommodate 1,500 guests for dinner. Wireless Internet access is complimentary in the lobby and public areas. Valet parking is available for a surcharge.
The 42-story hotel offers 1,416 guestrooms and suites, and no 2 are the same. At the end of a day of meetings or exploring the city's sights, you'll be relieved to sink into a bed with a plush pillowtop mattress and triple sheeting. All guestrooms and suites have flat-screen TVs with premium and international channels. All rooms offer high-speed Internet access (surcharge).

"Nostalgia, Small Room"
Nice Hotel, interesting photographs on walls. Small room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The location is still great!"
I have stayed at the Waldorf four or five times over the years. It has its pros and cons. Pros include nice lobby space (although I've never liked the Lexington Ave entrance), terrific location and a great, albeit pricy breakfast at Oscars. The service is slipping. I spent one morning working from my room so I missed the standard service cycle. I asked […] that the room be serviced when I headed out in the afternoon for meetings and dinner. I was assured that it would be, yet this did not happen. Not the biggest deal in the world, but this should be a layup for any good hotel. The wireless was terrible and my room in the sixth floor extremely loud from street noise. I'll be staying elsewhere on my next business trip to NY. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Candidly, I would rather stay at a three star hotel because at least they are not going to surprise me. I don't know where to start and don't have all day to articulate it but suffice it to say that people make a hotel in my experience of buying hotel products for 26 years. These people are poorly paid, union with attitude, astonishingly rude and failed […] to follow thru on every single measure "intended" to fix my issues. Incompetence taken to a new level. Front desk staff that refuse to give their last name and then hang up on you for challenging them for it! A horrible stain on the flagship of the Hilton brand. I wouldn't stay there again for free but the location is great, the room clean but who cares, I left wanting never to set foot in it again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A piece of history in the center of Manhattan"
Gorgeous hotel and great service. Location cannot be beat. I would DEFINITELY stay at the Waldorf again. Absolutely wonderful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"little or no attention"
It's rare to go to hotel these days where none of the staff even recognise that you are there. Not one word other than the woman that checked me in.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Outstanding back next month twiceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Outdated with technological problems"
The internet cost $18 per day and didnt work, took the tech guy over an hour to fix the internet in our room. likewise the TV worked 50% of the time and had a lot of static. It's fun staying in a historic hotel and all, but be prepared to feel like you are living in the 20th century in terms of technology and amenities.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel as expected!"
I spent 2 days at the Waldorf for business. The location in Midtown is great. It's walkable to everything unless you need to go down to Wall St. The hotel is clean and the staff is very accomodating (no problem getting a late 1pm checkout so I didn't have to lug my suitcase across town for a morning meeting). The one complaint is that they charge $25 […] for wifi. The room itself is expensive enough, seems like "free" wifi wouldn't be asking too much. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Astoria doesn't have wi-fi in rooms ?"
I didn't have wi-fi in my room so was in need to talk to reception and ask to change the room and carry my luggage from 13th floor to the 8th floor and it causes inconvenience to me. Location of the hotel is very good, rooms are pretty clean. Nice place but wi-fi is the thing you are to check :-)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"You can do a lot better"
We stayed here for a night and wouldn't stay another. Rooms are really old and dated. Picture staying at your grandmothers but just paying 400 for the night. Understaffed overpriced and underwhelming. Don't botherGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"extremely dissatisfied and furious"
it is totally unacceptable to have to wait more than 45 minutes to check in at 11:55 pm on a night with no unusual travel/weather or other local anomalies. it is further aggravating to be told by the AGM on duty that this was normal, there was nothing he could do and I should be glad I was at the Waldorf. Security needed to assert itself because of […] the arguments about who was next in line to get to one of the two registration agents who was working. When asked when the shift change occurred, the answer was "Midnight," which means that the previous shift was still there, the new shift was also there, and only two clerks were manning the twenty some stations. Totally unprofessional at a Motel 6 for $39, let alone Park Avenue for $500 ADR. The Waldorf used to mean high standards and personal attention. I got more from its sister property, the Hilton Garden Inn. $16 for a cup of decaf was also offensive and out of control. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"$21 a day for internet is ridiculous!"
Overall hotel was nice but very busy because it is a tourist spot, lots of people just hanging out in the lobby. Rooms are ok. Standard amenities such as internet was outrageous. Get with the times. Free internet at an expensive hotel like this is expected.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
excellentGenuine Hotels.com guest review
By modern hotel standards, the Waldorf is seriously second class. But it has history and character which encourages guests to be forgiving, and papers over the cracks to a large extent. Having to pay for internet access however, is almost unforgivable in this day and age. But that pretty much sums up the place, as does a pot of coffee for $27.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful Classic Hotel"
Every aspect of this hotel speaks to it still being a classic. From its beautiful lobby to the very nice rooms it is an experience worth the price - especially with the rates that were available through Hotels.com!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice vintage hotel"
My father stayed here 40 years ago which prompted me to want to stay. While business was part of this trip, primary was our 28th wedding anniversary. Nice classic charm. Bar was a bit pricey at $50 for 2 muddy rivers. But I guess that's NY! Clean room, attention to details, nice soaps and shampoo, no view though, looking out window at roof top and AC […] units. Would stay here again. Good price hotel .com!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Central location / Great Hotel"
FantasticGenuine Hotels.com guest review
A very luxurious and historic hotel. Situated in the middle of midtown between Park Ave. and Lex on 50th. Beautiful, large art deco lobby. Rooms are very clean and luxurious even though the hotel itself is very old. One of the best and grandest hotels in Manhattan for sure!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"VERY CONVENIENT LOCATION"
EXCELLENTGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel is in a fantastic location. Staff and service was excellent. Will be great when all renovations are complete. Love staying here despite renovations.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We were expecting a lot more from the Waldorf. The room was outdated and old looking. Wall paper was peeling, lamp was chipped...paint was flaking...not even remotely worth discounted rate we paid.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A little dated, but very niceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
There are lovely elegant aspects of this grand dame but the details are a mess. Luggage checked in some weird back hall There are electrical octopuses in every room instead of a modern set up for charging a cell phone and a computer It seemed clean though and the room was small but niceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A delightful stay"
The hotel provided me with a beautiful refuge for 5 days from the summer heat and activity of midtown NYC. I arrived at midnight and was taken by surprise with an upgrade: a room with a queen bed was upgraded to a huge lovely suite with kitchen. Thank you Hotels.com and thank you Waldorf Astoria!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Exactly what I thought it would be!"
The Waldorf lives up to its name in my opinion. Amazing service, clean room, great location, and awesome bed! When I go back to New York I will be staying at the Waldorf!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good but not luxury!"
Great experience over all but room was a disappointment.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It doesnt get much more old school NYC than staying at the Waldorf and I had a fantastic time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Service i definitely NOT up to standards. The only hotel in the world where I and others had to queue for 30 min for check-in (3 boothes open on 10) and where the bell captain tells you to drop your luggage at the storage yourself. Never saw that and will never stay there anymore. Sorry.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The Waldorf was once a grand hotel and attracted discerning travelers from around the world. Now it is a mix if conference attendees, foreign travelers and people who have found a hot deal on the Internet. Room temperature that can't be controlled by the occupant? Front Desk clerks that don't answer the phone? You can't help but get the feeling that […] the Waldorf is a fading grande dame badly in need if rescue! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't make promises you don't intend to keep."
We were promised a room upgrade & a text for early check in. We never received the text on a rainy stormy day we ended up wondering the streets thinking our room wasn't ready. Finally we returned at 430 to find our room ready but it was nothing more than the basic queen room we had requested. We were too wet & tired to even question it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We enjoyed our stay at the Waldorf.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Check in took forever. We still don't understand why but we had to wait for almost 45 minutes to check in and there was only a handful of people in front of us. Also, for overnight parking we were told to call about thirty minutes in advance to get our car so we naturally expected it to be ready by the time we went outside to Lexington. No, we then […] had to wait another 45 minutes for our car and parking was far from cheap. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Great old hotel...getting a little tired.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Noisy, cramped, dirty, expensive. Stayed in another hotel for the first 3 nights, and never should have switched to the waldorf astoria. Such a huge waste of money. I can't believe how loud this hotel was. Nothing in the room worked, and the walls seemed about to come crashing down.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"worst ever stay at the Waldorf"
Check-in took 15 minutes. Staff didnt inform me of my $25 credit or free breakfast for 2. Worst of all, there was no AC in the room (temp ranged from 75-77oF). Told they were opertaing at "neutral air". It was 70oF outside. I have stayed here at least 10 times over the years. The hotel is showing its age (not a good thing) and needs a big update. Until […] then, count me out. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stay was wonderful. Parking valet system was awful"
Room accommodations and personnel were great especially for the price . However the parking system left a very sour taste in my mouth . I valeted my car just before 3 Pm on a Monday .The receipt says to please call the valet system a 1/2 hour before needing your car . On my check out they added $60.00 for parking.( High but typical midtown Park Avenue) […] I went to my business appointment Tuesday. At 3:09 PM (time is on my cell phone history ) I called for my car from the place I was working .When I got to the checked baggage area to retrieve my luggage ,I gave my ticket to the valet desk across the hallway to get it stamped. i was told since I was over 24 hours I must pay an additional $28.00.The valet people were very nice , but said they do not write the rules , but need to carry them out. So for the 15 minutes or so over the 24 hours, it cost me $28.00 . To add insult to injury , my car was not delivered until 4:06 . PM ( 57 minutes ) The doormen and porters offered their apologies on behalf of the hotel and recommended I not pay any of the parking bill for the service (or lack of service) I received. I will write the Waldorf to express my dissatisfaction but do not expect much to be done Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The location of the Waldorf can not be beat. The staff and the accommodation where wonderful. My only complaint was there is no coffee maker in the room and a cup of joe in the lobby was $$$. I liked that the elevators have security measures after 6pm you must have an active room key to go upstairs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
