"Cinvenient to our family"
We stayed with you for the first time. (We have always stayed at the Barclay Intercontinental.) We enjoyed the experience, but felt that the pricing of your food serive (tea and toast for $32, breakfast buffet at $44) was opportunistic/excessive, and we won't be staying with you again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Building and location are great --- Service is BAD"
The hotel is beautiful and conveniently located but the service was terrible. Upon check in our room wasn't ready which wasn't a big deal so we asked to leave our bags while we walked around New York. The front desk said they couldn't take them and we had to take our own bags down 2 flights of stairs to the bell stand. Several hours later we returned […] to the hotel to pick up the keys and we waited in a line for 40 minutes. After finally getting the keys I asked for our bags to be taken to the room, once again they refused so I had to go get them myself. My last complaints are about the service in the restaurants. First off their kitchen received a B rating for cleanliness from the Health Department. I find that unacceptable especially for a "5 Star" hotel. The service in the lobby restaurant was laughably bad, we were seated for 35 minutes before we saw our waiter once. The hostess noticed we had not been served and actually went and got him. After that we each ordered a drink and they can promptly. After delivering the first drinks we never saw the waiter again. We eventually gave up hope and I got up and asked the hostess for the bill. We just paid it and left. Overall the hotel is historic and in a great location but I have stayed at many of its direct competitors in the City before and the will never stay at the Waldorf again. Its kind of sad that they are not living up to the standard they set for themselves and the rest of the high end NYC hotels. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A little out of the way, but well worth the stay"
Overall satisfied with the stay, but it was not as glamorous as I had hoped it would be. The walls are a bit thin as you can easily hear your neighbors, but the pillows are the best I have ever slept on.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

While I understand it is supposed to be a luxury hotel in Manhattan, I felt it was extermely overpriced. There were no special perks to the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room had a foul odor...like raw sewage. Luckily we were not in our room except to sleep and by that time we were too tired to care. Considering this is rated as a four star we were seriously dissapointed about the cleanliness.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great lobby, but a disappointment"
I've stayed at the Waldorff before - its location is wonderful, and its lobby really alluring - but this was disappointing. No robes - an inconvenient surprise; the TV had no signal - we were only there about 8 hours, but that's presumably an ongoing problem; and our over 100$ continental/healthy room-service breakfast was spoiled by the fact that the […] jog labelled "hot water" for tea contained coffee, and there were daunting quantities of not very nice cereal and baked goods. I wished I'd opted for a latte and a croissant at Starbucks. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I received an excellent price on the room so knew in advance it would be one of the less desirable spaces. Small, dark, construction directly above. What surprised me was that the hot water and the water pressure was so very lacking. It would not occur to me that this, too, could be included in the less desirable category.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"very out of touch"
The people were nice. But, for a hotel like the Waldorf Astoria, the rooms were out of touch with reality especially when you have old discolored towels in the room. The room I stayed in was not worth the 225 dollars I paid. I had a better chance going to a sleep inn, spend half that amount and feel much better about it. If you want class or bang for […] your buck, go elsewhere. Not impressed at all for a place known all over the world. They have truly fallen off. Need massive updates. "Glorious, but faded"
The lobby and facilities are magnificent. The room . . . . well . . . not magnificent. The bed was comfortable, the furniture was antique and worn, but nice; there was a large flat screen TV (movies cost $17 and up). The bathroom reflected a slapdash renovation but the plumbing was ancient with groans and whistles. It had a flush twice toilet. The restaurants, […] room service and other services are all outrageously expensive (examples: $18.95/day for wireless internet in the room (free in lobby) $28 for a room-service burger). So, stay here for the bragging rights and for not having to give the street address to the taxi driver. You can just say "the Waldorf." Location is terrific. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't spend in the hotel."
This is a cool stay just to say you've been to the Waldorf Astoria in NY. Many of the accommodations have been updated but many are still pretty dated. Taking into consideration that it's NY and everything is higher I was still pretty floored at what they charge for things in the hotel. For example, the Sunday brunch for four people (with 15% already […] added to the check along with a service charge (what?)) came to a whopping $500. The Broadmore in Colorado Springs has one four times bigger, better food, and about a third of the price. Check your bill on the way out because both the party we were traveling with and we had charges from the fridge for $8 and $10. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The hotel is a piece of Americana...and they know it. Extremely overpriced room service (double digits for BP&J). Overpriced cocktails in peacock alley. Extra charge for gym. Our stay was great, however when i called the hotel to report i"d forgotten a bag ( 9-11 memorial )i really recieved no feeling of interest in an attempt to locate the bag. did you inquire of the maid. I found it shocking that for two breakfasts and a pot of hot coffee, altho delicious, the cost of 98.00 was quite outragous. "Great Hotel for Teenagers who want to Party!!!"
What was once a Grand Hotel has slipped to a Teen Party spot. Service is spotty at best. Waited a half hour to check in and then walked into a room that smelled like urine. The happily switched us to another room (after another 15 minutes of waiting). The bar service was awful and the bar was over priced. Bottom line. Stay at a modern hotel to get […] a nice clean room. Stay at the Waldorf for a glimpse at history and maybe, just maybe you will have a moment or two when you think it lives up to its' past grandeur. But, you'll wake up and realize that it's 2012 and they haven't put the $$,$$$,$$$ into the hotel that it needs to keep it up to par. For Adults, forget it. "An objective review."
The stay was not at all what I expected for the money. When you walk into the main lobby, one feels as if they have "arrived". Not only to the hotel, but in life. That's where the opulence ends and the frustration begins. My deluxe room was very small (to be expected in NYC, but still a problem). The air conditioner/heater was a wall unit. The type […] that is found in every flea ridden motel in the USA. To make things worse, it did not work. Additionally, the room was very dusty (we stayed for 4 days and I left with a scratchy throat). Also, you can hear everything above you and beside you in the other rooms. So expect to be awake. The staff were friendly and helpful at every turn, and for that, I commend them. The amenities were few. Especially the make shift work out room which was standing room only due to its minuscule size. To end on a positive note, the location is great as you are about a 15 minute walk to most everything you want to see in mid town. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Waldorf Astoria in decline"
Very interesting. Hotel in a strange state of decadence. Although the lobby is still grand, the hotel needs a TOTAL renovation. Reception staff was courteous and fast. Some other staff members were helpful while others were cold, superior, and much less than helpful or, clearly, reluctantly helpful - making one feel as if it was a bother for them. "It is a room with a great location and that is it"
After a very long check in process, we arrived to our two connecting rooms. One was a spacious King and the other had two doubles. The space itself was great. However, the furniture is old and ragged. There is no turn down service so we rationed towels. In the adult bathroom, there were large paint chips from the tub floating around every time we showered […] and the sink was clogged. The shower in the kids' bathroom didn't even work. When we reported this to the front desk, it was clear that the hotel did not care. The fees attached to room service are prohibitive. We have stayed in many expensive hotels and resorts and happily paid the bill because the service and amenities were worth it. Here, it was not. Overall, with so many other great N.Y. options, I would not book this hotel again even though it as such a great location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A little disappointing for the first time"
We have stayed at the Waldorf Astoria over 10 times in the past years. This time was disappointing, because we reserved two non-smoking rooms with King beds and received smoking rooms with Queen beds. Maybe the lower prices that are being offered (due to re-modeling, I presume) have filled up the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Aging Beauty in Perfect Location"
This is one of those hotels you have to visit once in a lifetime, but it definitely shows its age. The first room I was given had wallpaper peeling off the walls! Hotel was under renovation. I took my 10 yr old daughter to NYC for her birthday and thought we'd stay at the Waldorf for the "story value.". "Very disappointed"
The renovations going on are so extensive that the entire Park Ave lobby is closed and the outside of the building is unrecognizable. None of this is mentioned when you make your reservation. I booked a King Junior Suite and while the room was large, there was no separate parlor and only one chair in the room There was peeling wallpaper in the room […] and our "Park Avenue view" looked out on another building either going under renovation or completely covered to protect it from the WA renovation. "When luxury hotels get old"
One of America's most famous hotels, with an excellent staff and a hard-to-beat location. But old age is creeping up on the W-A, and its current management (the Hilton chain) seems not to have wanted to invest enough in maintenance. The air conditioner in our room could not handle mid-summer Manhattan heat, with the result that the room was uncomfortably […] hot, even at night. The plaster over one of the windows had clearly been falling for weeks if not months, with nothing done except having the chambermaid sweep up the dust each morning. The wall paint was chipped on several edges and surfaces; again nothing had been done about this for at least several months. And the refrigerator-minibar, thought lighted up, was not cold. To be fair, after we complained, the hotel promised to send us a voucher for a free night's stay at a future date. However, that should not have been necessary. "Outdated Landmark"
Hi, I usually don't post reviews but I have to say for the amount of prestige this hotel represents the rooms were incredibly outdated. Paint was falling off the walls, there was mold in the bathrooms, the tub was spray painted with enamel to make it look "fresh" the wall paper was pealed off the walls. We did get our room changed to a "refurbished […] room" but considering this is supposed to be a 5 star hotel.. we shouldn't have had to repack all of our clothes etc and relocated to a different room. When we departed the hotel the valet took an hour and a half to bring up our car!!! They advised us that we should have called ahead?? I've never had to wait so long for valet parking in my life! We use valet all over NYC and you always get the car within 5 minutes. Overall I would never stay at this hotel again. The staff was very polite though, (this does NOT include the valet attendants who were rude and dismissive.) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
