"New york getaway"
Centrally located near subways, Central park. Rooms are quite spacious and very clean but the bathroom is little tight. Ironically, front desk people are not very helpful which should be an integral part of their job..... We really enjoyed our stay but it was very obvious that this hotel is in the midst of updating and renovating. The lobby looks great and the main hotel room was perfectly alright. But the hallways were narrow and out-dated and the walls were thin enough that we had issues with the noise level from our neighbors. "Great deal for the price!"
I stayed here with 4 friends the weekend after Thanksgiving and the hotel was perfect for what we were looking for. We were just coming to spend the day in the city and do some touristy things and only needed the hotel for sleeping/ showering. "Good bargin in midtown"
We stayed here a week, four days planned and 3 extra courtesy of Sandy. Our room was huge by New York standards and very comfortable. We had a couple maintenance issues, leaky faucet and burned out light bulb which we oplained about but which we're never fixed. Wifi was free but slow. "For the middle of Manhattan, it's pretty decent"
I have to admit that I'm not jumping up and down, enthusiastically recommending this hotel to anyone visiting New York. It's good -- close to Central Park, rooftop pool. The only thing I didn't like was the price didn't match the quality of the rooms. I mean -- how like New York, pay through the nose for an antiquated living space -- but the toilets […] are frustrating (aside from old with metal levels for flushers, they never seem to actually *flush* unless you karate chop the level at just the right speed) and the elevators are frustrating. This was my first time at this hotel in New York. It was clean, comfortable, and close to all the sightseeing. We ate breakfast every morning at the hotel restaurant because the food was so good. I checked alot of the reviews online before I choose this hotel and found that as I read, the room was large, very clean and very comfortable, which is what mattered to me the most. The hotel is a bit outdated, but that didn't affect my stay. The only negative was although parking was discounted, when I got my car from the attendant, it was filthy! My wife and I booked a room at this hotel to spend a weekend near friends in the City. While the lobby, appearing to be recently renovated, seemed nice. The room was so poorly kept and uncleanly that we stayed one night, forfeited the pre-paid room charges for two more nights and moved to a hotel two blocks away. Everyone was helpful, and greeted us as old friends We were given the area we wanted, as one of the ladies could not use an elevator. We managed to get feeling pretty good, while waiting for our room to be ready. We ate around the corner at Route 66 ( it was just like home in Kingman, Az.) and managed to get a glow on at your bar. "Easter break overnight stay"
My girlfriend and I got adjoining rooms. We both have 2 kids each. Our rooms were spacious, especially for a Manhattan hotel, it was clean and moden. The reps of the hotel were accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. "Convenient and Clean"
This must be one of the easiest hotels to drive to from New England. Less than 2 blocks from 9A, it was a cinch getting in and out (note that we did not try to travel during the commuter rush hours). Staff was pleasant and efficient. A request for 2 extra pillows was promptly fulfilled. The room was clean (no bedbugs - I check as a matter of course […] anymore), and the bed was very comfortable. The concierge was very informative about directions. We walked to Central Park and back with no concerns. "No stress!"
Not being from NYC, I was a bit stressed about driving in the city. The Lincoln Tunnel experience was intense but getting to the hotel once we were out of the Tunnel was super easy and quick. Leaving the city was very stress-feee. I would definitely stay at this hotel again for the ease in getting to it. The room was nice, the staff was fine. No issues. […] We were able to leave our bags ($2 per bag fee) at the hotel after we checked out so we could explore the city more. Parking was $30 a night and had a no in and out policy (Not an issue for me because I didn't want to drive in the city anyways). The only issue was that a subway stop is not very close. It is a good 10 minute walk to the subway. We took a cab once and it was about a $7 fare to the subway. The rest of the time we walked to Times Square. Maybe a 20/30 minute walk with lots to see.
