"Great basic hotel"
Went here with my girlfriend for a two day New York date and we had a great time. Room was clean, King size bed was awesome and it was very near subway locations and it was easy to get anywhere we needed to go. I booked this hotel because of a reasonable price for a New York stay. Arrived expecting far less than I got. The negative reviews do not do this property justice. We stayed in October 2011. Upon check in the clerk assigned me to a smoking room. When I complained she told me to call hotel.com because there was nothing she could do. A total lie! "Great Staff and Close to Everything"
All (yes all) of the staff of this hotel are courteous and professional, from the front desk, bell hops, even the cleaning crews. Every time we saw a hotel employee they said hello and have a great day (or some other friendly remark). The rooms were good sized and average as far as setting. I really only had a couple minor comments; the air conditioner […] didn’t blow that hard but did keep the room reasonably cool; there could have been more plug-ins in the room for all my electronics, and a slightly newer TV would have been great, but these are such minor things, they really don’t even make a difference. They had free Wi-Fi, which was great. The location of this hotel is within walking distance to several major attractions (e.g., Central Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Plaza, Broadway, etc.) and the rest are not that far away within a couple miles (e.g., Empire State Building, Ground Zero, etc.), so jumping in a cab was cheap and fast. If you are looking for ultra-fancy, this may not be for you but if you just want somewhere comfortable to sleep (which we didn’t do much of) or just plop down mid-day for a nap, this is perfect. The price was a bit high but not completely unreasonable and certainly cheaper than most hotels of the same ilk. I will certainly stay there again on my next visit. "Mid-town Holiday Inn"
My husband and I have stayed at this hotel on 57th st between 9th & 10th ave several times. We stay because of the name and the convenient location. Off the main NYC area, the cost is reasonable and it is close to major NYC attractions. We stayed here during the overnight blizzard NYC received in December 2010. The check in was not pleasant due to a disgruntled employee. The temperature outside was between 20-30 degrees and upon getting to my room I discovered that the cleaning service had left a window open, making it that much colder. This hotel was perfectly located for our needs. We were in New York on our honeymoon and it was really close to the subway station we needed to get everywhere. The pool was a bit cold but so was the weather. Our room had everything we had asked for including a refrigerator (by request) to store my medication. This was my first trip ever to NYC. Although I arrived extremely early (10:30am) there was no problem with a early check-in. The staff is extremely helpful & courteous. The concierge service is EXCELLENT - they recommended places to eat; recommended and coordinated great tours; gave instructions on how to get to places to visit and they even coordinated […] my transportation to JFK. All this service is with no extra cost. The location is great - close to all the important sites in NYC. The room was HUGE (even by NYC standards) great tv and internet service. Hotellet hade ett bra läge och vi fick ett trevligt rum på 17de våningen med kanonutsikt över Manhattan. Personalen var trevlig och hjälpsam. Smidigt med gratis wifi på rummen.
