Huge room, very helpful staff. Only downer - could not watch the football games while waiting for friends as waitress said only those ordering food or drinks could remain in lounge. NO ONE else was in the lounge.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for the price"
The customer service was very good. From the bellhops the moment we arrived, to the manager getting my bill ready for me at the end, everyone was very courteous and helpful. The beds were fairly comfortable and felt clean. The bathroom could use updating and cleaning. The bathroom would also benefit from a fan to ventilate it. We were disappointed to […] find that the heating/cooling system was not capable of just bringing in fresh air. It was fairly cold outside, but stuffy inside and we were only able to get warm/hot air from the system. As a result, we had to open the windows, which resulted in a noisier sleeping condition than we are used to (even on the 12th floor, NY is a pretty loud place). "Close to Restaurants, walk to Time Square"
I thought the Holiday Inn was realy nice. The room was clean and spacious. Around the corner from 9th Ave where all the restaurants are yet still 10 minute walking distance to Times Square. They have discounted parking ($24 per day, although once in you cannot access your car). Although we didn't use the outdoor pool it did look clean and wasn't crowded. "Good location for everything"
This hotel was a good value for its location. We could walk to almost all the major tourist sites. The room was clean and comfortable, which is all I need in a hotel when it's just a place to sleep and shower. No free breakfast, but there are plenty of places close by to get breakfast. Overall, I was pleased with this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pretty good overall"
It's clean, comfortable, conveniently located and the staff was helpful when we had questions. Two minor issues: 1) We asked for a rollaway bed when making the reservation (for 5 nights) but when we arrived at 10 p.m. there were none left. They said that these are provided each day "first-come first-served". So for the first night I slept on a mattress […] on the floor that they provided. We got the rollaway bed after that. 2) WiFi works best in the lobby. In the room, we couldn't get attachments to load and send. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Location of hotel is great for Subway, Central Park and food! H Kitchen area is just a stone throw away! We took a walk to theater district an Times Sq. The facilities of hotel is dated but acceptable. I understand that they have already started renovation. Met a couple of unfriendly staff at the reception which really took points off.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great price Great location"
My 10 year old daughter and I stated at Holiday Inn Midtown 57th for 3 nights on our New York vacation. Loved the location. Subway 2 blocks away, Central Park and Columbus Circle in walking distance. Roof top pool was great. They are doing updates. The only thing I wish was different would be the pool hours. My daughter and I would have loved the pool […] to be open later than 6pm. Will surely stay here in the future. Some of the reviews are misleading....If you want a $500 dollar a night room. Pay for one. If you want a nice hotel in a good location for a fair price you cant go wrong. All of the staff were very nice and would answer and questions myself or my daughter asked...and being our 1st trip to the city we had several. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

First I want to say that the hotel Personnel was at its best. When I arrive the room was clean. I stood 12 nights and my room was always clean. The hallway, elevators also clean. A lot of noise on the corridor. Early in the morning people using drill and hammer down the wall and yelling each other on the room beside us. I think they should tell you up front when they are renovating close to your room. They close the pool too early (6:00 PM). It's summer time and everybody want to get inside and the pool is close. "Great roof top pool but rooms not great"
My family and I loved the location and the roof top pool at the Holiday Inn on W57th Street, but the rooms and the hotel staff weren't up to par. When we walked down the 3rd floor hall we smelled smoke and when we opened our room door (301) we could smell smoke and it also smelled like a locker room. I immediately called the front desk who said that […] the hotel was non-smoking so it couldn't be smoke unless a guest was smoking illegally but they had no control over that. They said they would send someone to the floor to check. The smell got worse over the 3 days we were there and on the 3rd day my husband was so upset he went to the front desk at 2am only to be told that it was our own fault for not complaining more, sooner. Since we were checking out the next day there was nothing they could do. They did offer to give us a complimentary breakfast the next morning but we had alternate plans outside of the hotel so they took off an existing breakfast charge. Upon check out we were never even asked if we enjoyed our stay. We loved the location and we'd consider staying there again for the pool but now we know you have to complain loudly and quickly and often if you need help with something. "Great place at a reasonable price (for NYC)"
We wanted to stay somewhere in the city close to broadway/times square and also close to Central park, museums, etc. This location was perfect. We have 2 kids 10 and 12. The staff was friendly and responsive for things like extra towels, etc. The room was very clean, a little dated and the bathroom was a little tight. The room could not really completely […] cool down - which we hear may have been because of the city limiting the power usage for the summer...but the temp was still OK. Although the room was dated - we still had a new flat screen TV and updated linens. The pool on the roof was really great...because it was SO HOT. Our kids were 10 and 12 and the walk to Times Square was very easy - it took about 15-20 minutes - but "do-able" for kids. Also - it is very convenient to get to the entrance of Central Park. We went more "uptown" to the Guggenheim Museum, and the taxi cab ride was only about $12. We also took the subway downtown. the subway station was only a 5 minute walk as well. We pick this hotel because it was one of the more reasonable priced in the the city in this location. We were extremely happy with everything at this hotel...and noticed a lot of families seem to stay here. It is more on a "neighborhood" street - there is a Walgreens about a half a block away - we walked over there about 11pm and felt very safe doing so. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Last minute booking"
Other plans fell through at last minute. Booked the day before our stay. No complaints. Good price. Great location. Parking was reasonable $27 a night (with stamped ticket). Pool was a plus for the kids. Rooms were a little old. Refrigerator extra $$.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My parents came from out of country and we decided to go on an impromptu trip to NYC for a weekend. We drove, and the hotel has a special for the overnight parking for the hotel guests. Of course, we did not need the car once there, but we were just couple of blocks from the Central Park, a block from the 9th Ave. with all the wonderful ethnic, affordable […] small restaurants, two-three blocks from the Carnegie Hall, etc. Location is excellent and the hotel was tidy enough. In both rooms I noticed wallpaper peeling in the same spot - behind the arm chair and next to the tall lamp. Otherwise, I think we will be coming here again especially if we are with our 2-year old. We had a really nice stay at this hotel. This is a nice tourist hotel close to many mid town NYC attractions. The staff was great. Rooms are small but OK and could use renovations. The area was convienent to the amenities we wanted, but the hotel overbooked and we were on the short end of the stick. We reserved a double, we even called to confirm as well as inform the hotel that we would be in around midnight. The staff was polite and gracious over the phone and yet they still rented our room. Overall, my family and I were happy with the Holiday Inn-Midtown. The people who worked in the hotel were eager to please and extremely helpful and accomodating. I have 2 complaints. "Great value for this location in New York"
No complaints of any kind. Room was clean, beds were EXCELLENT, staff very helpful. The room was larger than those at other NY hotels in this price range. Also at Columbus Circle starts Central Park & the kid's playground […] area, which we found useful. "More Central Park than Midtown"
Given the high price of New York hotels, especially in Midtown\Times Square are, staying a little bit further uptown is not a bad idea. Close to train or a nice walk to midtown.
