Concierge and hotel staff were wonderful and friendly. The hotel dining room gave us our bill with gratuity added and then, after presenting a credit card to them, produced a receipt with the exact same amount shown as pre-gratuity price. This is a nice tourist hotel close to many mid town NYC attractions. The staff was great. Rooms are small but OK and could use renovations. "Great for the price"

"Gave my double away"
The area was convienent to the amenities we wanted, but the hotel overbooked and we were on the short end of the stick. We reserved a double, we even called to confirm as well as inform the hotel that we would be in around midnight. The staff was polite and gracious over the phone and yet they still rented our room. Great location. Roosevelt deli down the block is definitely worth eating at. Walking distance to Times Square, Central Park, museums, and lots of places to eat. Overall, my family and I were happy with the Holiday Inn-Midtown. The people who worked in the hotel were eager to please and extremely helpful and accomodating. I have 2 complaints. In our room, all night we heard toilets from all over the hotel flushing. It was very noisy and distracting. And the elevator system is ancient! There were 3 tiny elevators. No complaints of any kind. Room was clean, beds were EXCELLENT, staff very helpful. The room was larger than those at other NY hotels in this price range. Nice location! 3 block lovely walk to Columbus Circle, where there is a subway stop and a Whole Foods store (in the Time Warner Building). "More Central Park than Midtown"
Given the high price of New York hotels, especially in Midtown\Times Square are, staying a little bit further uptown is not a bad idea. Close to train or a nice walk to midtown. It's in Manhattan and close to all the sight seeing. Our room was smelly as we came in. Needed to open the windows. The bathrooms were clean. The staff are helpful thankfully.
