They had activities for the kids, a nice pool and good fitness area. The whole family enjoyed our stay at Grand Traverse. Stayed in the Tower and the rooms were nice and it was pretty quiet.

I took my family to the resort for our winter “staycation” this year and our say was perfect! The staff was very helpful, our room was clean and comfortable and there was lots for us to do all the time. The water slide and pool area is big and laid out well. Grand Traverse Resort and Spa is an oasis amid vistas of beautiful rolling hills, water and sky so dramatic, you can't help but leave your toubles behind. Our trip was suppose to focus on the winter sports my husband so enjoys, but a thrown out back and low grade fever put that plan on the back burner. The resort ammenities gave us respit between excursions. All of the hotel's food service was excellent. I highly recommend making a reservation for brunch on the 16th floor at Aerie at least once during your stay. The restaurant, view and food were incredible. The resort staff was always courteous and very helpful. We all had a great time and will definately go back, perhaps to see the other 3 seasons from the resort. Even our little Rat Terrier, Stella had a blast staying at Dog Dreams Inn just around the corner from the hotel! Read more

No where else to go. Should have been a free shuttle to somewhere besides a casino. Dress code should have been inforced in 16th Floor dining room. I was expecting more updated rooms for the price of the room. My wife and I discovered left over food in our refrigerator in the room, very nasty smelling and appeared to be old. We loved the view from our room, but the bed and linens were old and somewhat worn. I would expect nicer sheets. Had never been to Traverse City, so decided to pick a rather nice hotel to be sure. I paid in full online and was surprised when checking out we received an additional fee of $15 per day. It was an amazing hotel, the atmosphere was relaxing and fancy but not snooty. We utilized the spa, golf courses, pool, and restaurant. Disappointed that TV kept losing signal for the ABC station. Called front desk and TV maintenance man was sent and he told us that it was a problem with that station only and that it was a Charter problem. There was no solution aside from the hotel resolving Charter changing their signal into the hotel system. They had an outside group that took the whole thing and would not let us, that are staying at the hotel dine there. As you walk into the lobby, you think "Wow". It is beautiful and spacious and very new. However, the rooms leave a lot to be desired. We looked at some rooms in the "hotel" part of the building. The rooms just looked and felt "old" even though they have been remodeled. The tower rooms are much nicer, but there are some amentities that really date the […] rooms - hairdryers that hang on the walls, phone lines in the bathrooms for example. If you can get the rooms on a deal, it is worth staying there. Beyond that, the grounds are really nice. Great facilities (workout room, pool, etc.). The swimming pool water dirty and out of all the zaquizz was extremely dirty with body skin on the periphery of the wall and flowing on the water. I told staff and they said the engineering will be coming. However, engineer didn't come and they still let others get into the filthy spa. The hotel was grand in its day but it is really outdated, and the room we were in you can tell an attempt was made to update the room but the craftsmanship was disappointed, and the quality of stuff was outdated also. Bathrooms are small, hairdryers are from the 70-80's, there was a cold draft across the floor. The blankets used on the beds were foam. […] the TV's was old. Our bed was broke, and we didnt get any cleaning service for two days and then I had to call down by 2 pm to ask for it. I tried to book for the spa and they said they were completely booked but when I walked down and spoke to them personnally- she said they didnt have the staff and the cleaning people stated they were under staffed.. Now the Hotel was not busy!!! it had about 20 cars in the parking lot.. not busy at all for the size of the place. Then they charge 15$ per day for use of parking, spa etc.. Just ashame, I can remember going to this place in the 80's and it was hopping and busy!.. Went to another hotel resort in the area and it was so busy!!! people were queing to get there reservations. I've stayed in plenty of hotels, and imagined for what I was paying in the off season that I would be super impressed with this hotel. This was not at all the case. We enjoyed our stay at the Grand Traverse but honestly it wasn't as appointed or updated as I would have expected. Our room was average, what I would consider a nice Holiday Inn. The beds weren't extremely comfortable and the bathroom was small. Our TV was ancient and made weird noises, but overall everything worked and was clean. The biggest problem was that the rooms have no sound proofing. You could hear ever noise from the hallway to the water running in the other rooms, including the toilets flushing. The elevators are old and take forever to get to the floor. Their are more comfortable hotels in the area to stay at.

My husband and I stayed here for a wedding this past weekend. The reception was in a tent on the property... the weather was glorious, the trees are full color peak, just beautiful! The wait staff for the wedding were top notch, for a party over 200 guests they were ON the ball! Our room was not on the water side but had a great view of the parking […] lot construction, but we didnt mind. The room was larger than I anticipated and was clean and had a jacuzzi tub. Was definitely NOT worthy of our actual room charge (for a saturday night) but the whole area is over priced in my opinion. We were disappointed with the hotel. We had a confirmation of a king-size bed. However, on check in they were not able (or willing) to find us the requested room. We have stayed at many hotels in our travels and have always had our request for a specific room met, the room was booked well in advance for the request to be accommodated. Also, the rooms […] in the main hotel are very tired and are long overdue for upgrading. These rooms were not inexpensive rooms. We did find the food to be good. However, with all the grounds that are available, there were no tables or chairs to sit around outside. We had some nice weather while we were there and it would have been nice to enjoy the evenings sitting outside. The beach & the deck shown online appear much nicer than the actual beach which we decided not to use. On check out we were also surprised at the $14.95/day resort fee. We were told this was for use of the pools, business center & workout room, etc. It would be better to have these fees included in the room rates rather then adding them on at check-out. We were told they wanted to become a 5 Star Hotel...they have their work cut out for them!! Read more
