We are Americans that live in Sao Paulo, Brazil because of my husbands job. My husband and I went to Salvador with relaxation in mind, a weekend without... our kids to just do nothing! We found the hotel to be very peaceful, but has activities to do if you want to. We kept saying how much the kids would enjoy it, so we will most likely return someday with them. The beach at the resort was beautiful... if you go down at the right time in the morning you can see coral reefs and all the little critters crawling around them!! Our kids would LOVE that!! The pool is amazing and the temperature of the water was perfect!! They have a pool table, ping pong and fuse-ball... but only one of each, so you might have to wait to use it. There isn't really anything near-by the hotel as far as restaurants or sights to see, not within walking distance... so if that's what you're interested in this is not a good choice. You can take a taxi to places... for us, it was about R$50 for a 20 minute ride... which is about how long it takes to get somewhere. Over all the hotel is wonderful and we really enjoyed our stay... The resort is right on beautiful Stella Maris Beach, one of Salvador's best-regarded waterfront areas. Praia do Flamengo, the city's other surf-friendly beach, is just 3.5 km (just over 2 mi) northeast. Deputado Luis Eduardo Magalhaes International Airport is 11 km (less than 7 mi) north, easily accessible with the resort's complimentary airport shuttle, available at scheduled times. You must contact the property 48 hours prior to arrival to arrange airport pick-up. The hotel’s contact information is in the confirmation email received after booking.

You won't only have the Atlantic Ocean to play in--Gran Hotel Stella Maris Resort has an outdoor pool that joins a relaxing freeform area with a space just for swimming laps. Children have their own areas for fun with a smaller pool just for kids and a children's club offering activities just for younger guests. At the fitness center, you can use the cardio equipment, take a dance class, or paddle the ball back and forth on the tennis or squash courts.

You'll start each day with a complimentary buffet breakfast that includes delicious local dishes. The 2 on site brasseries, Trattoria Abaete and Sol Nascente, specialize in Italian and Japanese food, while the buffet restaurant Palmares serves a variety of international cuisines. In the mood for a caipirinha? One bar is located off the lobby, while another offers drink service by the pool. 24-hour room service is available. And if you need to get a little work done, you can stop by the business center, use the Internet point, or connect to complimentary wireless Internet access throughout the hotel. We had a great experience at this hotel. The beach near the hotel was beautiful and clean. The pool area is great as well. I traveled through several cities in Brazil and they do not have great hotels. Do not expect a 4 or 5 star resort like you can find in the US or Mexico. The service was ok. The main complaint about the hotel was the room was not […] very clean. The bed sheets had a nasty smell. I found hairs in the shower when we arrived. I had to call for them to come clean the restroom. The hotel is just a few miles from the airport. Taxi from the airport to the hotel was approximately $40 USD. Downtown Salvador is approx. 40 minutes away from hotel. We took a shuttle service for the day. I was definitely glad we did not stay in the city center. Another plus, is the supermarket just 1 block away from the hotel. You can get snacks and stock up on water/drinks. Do not expect active nightlife. It is calm and not a ton of activities. Excelente hotel porém fica um pouco distante do Centro. Apropriado para casais e família, caso queira badalação não e muito próximo das baladas, mas pela estrutura vale a pena.

Em geral, foi razoável. Pontos fracos alimentação (bar da piscina e refeições almoço e jantar). Falta mais treinamento aos funcionários que exceto aos da recepção, são incapazes de cumprimentar os hospedes educadamente. Observei uma total falta de consideração aos hospedes quando em uma tarde por volta das 15h um grupo de 6-8 funcionários iniciaram […] um trabalho de lavagem das espreguiçadeiras da piscina, com hospedes tentando relaxar ao som de conversa altas, água espirrando por todos os lados e barulho insuportável de arrastar de cadeiras sendo arremessadas de um lado para o outro - simplesmente lamentável tal conduta. Perguntei por um supervisor de limpeza que não se encontrava no local e no dia seguinte informei formalmente ao hotel. Definitivamente a palavra resort não esta adequada as instalações e aos serviços prestados. Read more
