Room and location are great - as well as price. Only issue was rate said included breakfast yet were charged $5 per person by hotel for the continental breakfast which had a VERY limited selection of food and issues with both waffle maker and toaster. Hotel also did not even offer breakfast on one day as too few people at hotel.

My husband and I went for our anniversary and had a great time. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and the dinner we had was delicious. We would definitely stay there again. We stayed in the actual main inn part, so I'm not sure what the carriage house looked like. We have stayed here before and the main hotel is lovely. We had only two things that could have been better. First the Bed in room 204 sagged in the middl, and needed some center supports and they stopped having hard boiled eggs for breakfast. But all in all we had a great time. Our only disappointment was that the gas was not hooked up to our fireplace, so no fire. The fireplace was one of the main reasons I booked this, so that was a bummer. This is a great Historic Inn that was named the Yodeler Inn with smaller building across the street named the Echo, during the 1960-1970s skiing hey-day. The current Stowe Inn building holds architectural features and much of the charm of that era -- including expansive windows, piano, and welcoming fireplace at one of the open common gathering areas, […] with historic wooden bar area and glass-walled restaurant overlooking the village and river below. The detached Country Lodge portion of the Stowe Inn complex offers economical rooms that are perfect for the budget minded or those saving toward those ski lift-tickets. The staff consists of helpful, friendly, and accommodating Vermonters who remember you during return visits. Breakfasts are bountiful with choices of fruits, pastries, yogurts, cereals, and fresh custom (blueberries, strawberries, etc.) waffles and optional ($5 for eggs benedict, etc.) more substantial egg, bacon, and sausage breakfasts from the menu. Ask Norman, an attentive and good humored weekend staff member, about the bacon sausage. The new chef has put the dinner menu and River House Restaurant back on the Stowe map. We visited Stowe during the busy fall foliage season, and found a fair price for 2 midweek nights at the Stowe Inn. The room was clean and in good repair, save for a nightshade that couldn't roll up, but that didn't bother us. The area near our room was quiet and dark enough at night, so we slept well. The continental breakfast suited our needs for […] a light start to the day, but could have been made into a feast if you wanted it, since it had quite a large selection of food. We stayed one night at this hotel as part of a week long tour of Vermont. Although the cleaning could have been more thorough in our room (we stayed in the standard rooms), the rest of the inn seemed in great shape. The woman at the front desk was most accomodating. We were arriving late and she agreed to accept a take out order delivered to the hotel for us and bring it to our room, which was on the first floor. We ended up arriving in time to accept it our selves but the offer was very nice. The restaurant staff was just closing up for the night but gave us place […] settings without blinking an eye, that made our night. The room was nice though the a/c was a bit loud when it cycled on. The bathroom was clean but could use some updating . Over all it was a nice stay. I think the rooms upstairs might be nicer, and probably saved for those paying full price. Our experience at the hotel was a lovely one, and Jennifer at the front desk was so helpful and friendly. She recommended a few things to do. We took her advice, and we all (2 teenagers included) had a fantastic time! My only complaint was that the air conditioner unit in our room was loud, and the bed was too close to it, so the person sleeping in […] that spot (me, of course!) would get cold in the middle of the night. Continental breakfast was offered 8a-10a, however, if you came down closer to 10a, most of the offerings were either gone, or looked as if it had been handled too much. Very convenient location! It's a lovely 2-minute walk (through a covered bridge, to boot!) to main part of the village. Restaurants, shops and the Recreation Path were all right there. Before reading through, take note: this review is for the economy lodging NOT the main house. The main house is beautiful-there is everything from a library, piano room, restaurant to outdoor leisure areas. There is a lovely breakfast and the walk to the village only takes two minutes. We stayed here before heading to Burlington. The hotel was quaint - very neat historic inn. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were a good size. We didn't get to see much of Stowe, but it seemed like the inn was in a good location for visiting Stowe. If we came back to the area, we would stay at this inn again.

This hotel is conveniently located to many restaurants and shops in downtown Stowe. You can walk to several places from this hotel. There are nice rooms in the main building and rooms in the separate building which are considered the country lodge rooms. We booked a last minute country lodge room when we were passing through Vermont. When we arrived, […] they had some of the nicer rooms in the main building available and they offered us to upgrade and showed us the room. We did not take it (although the rooms looked very nice) simply because we just needed a place to crash. They offered continental breakfast and for $5/person you could upgrade to the buffet. The pictures of the country lodge rooms on their website are not quite up to par with the real thing though. The entrance to rooms in the back part of the building look a little like an "old-school" cabin/shack. The rooms had individual air conditioning units and since they were turned off, the room smelled musty. The rooms could use a fresh coat of paint and carpet cleaning to get rid of the smell but the rooms themselves are not bad. They are quite large and beds were comfortable. This isn't much of a review - we spent a total of about 8 hours at the Stowe Inn, sleeping mostly. The staff was excellent, helpful and friendly. The room was kept well, but aging, a little rust in the sink but everything worked and it was comfortable.

We stayed in the carriage house that was as you would expect. Wasn't a 5 star room but it was nice. They go out of their way to make you feel at home Breakfast was wonderful!! For the price we couldn't expect more. With 3 adults and 2 children the two double beds and queen size pull out sofa was perfect. Perhaps a little more secure locking system could be installed instead of just the basic lock on the doorknob (which can be easily opened by any amateur) and the chain once you are in the room. We intially had booked the economy room. We checked in at about five and quickly moved our stuff in and then left. Upon our return late at night we found the floor to be wet and no one was at the front desk. The next morning they assured us they would put us in another room which they did.
