"Nice exterior and location, good service, BUT.."
We stayed in one of their lowest-cost (but still $139) rooms in the "motel" building (not the main inn) right across the parking lot. While it was clean, it was quite old, including the furniture. The arm chair was so well-worn that we were afraid to sit on it and the sofa-bed wasn't far behind. "Disappointed Guest"
The carriage house rooms are animal friendly, but the dog in the next room barked through the night and early in the morning. "The Stowe Inn Needs Work"
We stayed in the Annex. Heat was uncontrollable (there was a thermostat) had to sleep with all of the windows open. Rug was so filthy our towels turned red form the dirt on our feet. "Ok for 1 night but would not want to stay longer"
We stayed in the carriage house behind the main inn but learned that apparrently these are the "budget rooms." The room was large and the bed comfortable but the bathroom (toilet/ shower w/ sink outside of this room) was claustrophic feeling. The sink counter was very worn and the faucets were actually backwards (hot faucet on right, cold on left) and […] oriented in a strange way (perpendicular to sink). There was a great deal of wear on the bathroom tile and floor, and what looked to be either dirt or crumbled pieces of tile on the floor. The free continental breakfast consisted of a few muffins in a basket, 2 small apples in another basket and a couple cereal choices. We opted for the bagel shop down the road instead. On the plus side, the hotel was located very close to town making it easy to walk into town or to the recreational path. The downstairs of the main lodge was beautiful - I guess that the rooms in the inn were probably much nicer. "VERY HOT INSIDE ROOMS"
My wife and I stayed there Oct. 28, 2011, a warm fall day. NO A/C or fan in room. It was Very HOT inside room, approx 80 or higher. Only one window, so very little ventilation. At 8pm called front desk for help and no one was there. People in next room said their room was HOT, too. Front desk did not open till 8am the next morning. Great location. Stowe, how could it not be? Room was not cared for at all. Daily cleaning staff did a good job, but when we first arrived smelled like it hadn't been aired out for months. Let's be honest, we booked the lowest level room. No one told us about WIFI connectivity nor breakfast time on arrival. Documents in room were so incomplete that we had to call reception to get the info. Room was disappointing. Abbiamo prenotato vedendo le foto dal sito e tenendo conto del voto medio, ma abbiamo trovato tutt'altro. Una camera stretta, non di certo come nelle foto, con tutt'alto arredamento (come nei peggiori motels dei telefilms americani,con tutto il rispetto per i Motels ), sporca, in pessime condizioni generali ( pezzi che si staccavano) , con buchi ben […] in evidenza sul divano.Alla nostra richiesta di cambiare camera ci hanno detto che era l'ultima, cosi' vista l'ora tarda abbiamo dovuto accettare. Al mattino a colazione poca scelta ed in poca quantità, (cosi' qualcuno a dovuto saltare la colazione), un solo tostapane per tutti. Fortemente sconsigliato il soggiorno allo Stowe Inn.
