"Dirty Pool"
The pool was so cloudy and dirty that we dared not swim. The hot tub had scum circling the edges. We complained, but the hotel didn't want to clean the pool because they had a group of kids staying for the weekend. The walls are thin so we couldn't sleep with all the noise. Plus we didn't get towels - even after we called twice. The food is overpriced […] and look horrid. We ate at local restaurants. "Doggie Day Care?"
My two biggest complaints are easily fixed, but the management needs to step up to the plate and take responsibility. The first is that they do the daily cleaning, but they have stopped fixing things that are broken. This is evident everywhere, you don't have to look that far. The second is that they allow dogs in the hotel. "Won't stay here again!"
The hallways seemed damp and musky. The beds were very hard and felt like cardboard. We were directed around the back to park, but it was not well lighted and we didn't feel safe. Our room was next to the pool and had a hum through the wall, enough to give both my husband and myself headaches. The wi-fi was not working the first night and too slow the second night to download a magazine in less than a half hour. The overall rating for this hotel was 4.0 so we were very surprised to see how run down the place was. The buffet breakfast was below average (we did eat there) and the dinner buffet did not look at all appetizing (we didn't eat it.) "Shipwreck at Commodore-aka we have no food for you"
While the room was sufficient for the price paid, the food situation was not as promised. When we made the reservation a month before, and we reserved a room within the specified season and intended on accessing the breakfast and dinner options. Warm weather the week before our arrival closed the local ski area earlier than usual, the Easter weekend […] ski access did not happen. The Commodore released all their cook staff. Breakfast became a fairly sparse choice of bagels and cold cereals instead of the promised hot breakfast and dinner was reduced to two lonely weiners turning on a hot plate in the bar. The bartenders Steve and Corry were great, but there was no food. When we travel, we prefer to park the car and enjoy a resort by staying off the road. Our experience was soiled by the elevator door was full of graffiti. The air conditioning in the room was inadequate. Sheets didn't stay on the mattress. "If it's summer, say no to a room on the 3rd floor!"
Upon checking in we were informed that our room was on the 3rd floor. No problem...except that the elevator only goes to the 2nd floor and from there, you take the stairs to the 3rd floor. When we asked for a room on the 2nd floor, we were told none were available-the hotel was completely booked. Oh, I see...so the fact that I booked two weeks earlier didn't help either, I told her. No response. OK..we venture up to our "attic" like room where as soon as you get to the stairs, you can feel the heat! Room temp-85 degrees! Took 4 hours to get the temp down to 75 and another 2 to get it to 70! "Will not stay there again"
This hotel looks lovely from the outside. Once inside, you see how dated it is. Front desk staff were friendly. The hallway to our room had a strange odor, thankfully it didn't creep into the room. The hallways were lined with plastic floor plants and plastic vines in hanging baskets, all loaded with dust. The king bed was close to the floor, as if […] it weren't on a frame. Hard as a rock too, our backs ached the entire time of our stay. Old dated bed linens graced the bed. There was a fridge, but no microwave or coffeemaker, nor hairdryer or ironing board. (the last two items can be requested at the desk tho) The restaurant is dismal - again dated with about 42 hanging swag type hanging lights, with wicker dust catcher shades, and their long chains holding the ceiling in bondage. When we asked the gal at the desk about the dinner buffet, she gave a shrug and said "It's ok if you like that kind of stuff," unenthusiastically. The bathroom remains dark for the first several minutes of your shower until the pigtail light bulb warms up. Not a good choice of bulb for a bathroom.Furniture was old and scratched up. Old style big TVs, no flat screens and funky lighting in the room. I would not rate this hotel as 'excellent' as others have, unless you like staying in a time capsule stuck in the 70s. The commadore inn serves a purpose, they provide accomadation so you can be near the ski mountain. The food and service is appalling, when the kitchen "chefs"cannot cook pancakes or sausage without burning them, there is a big problem, also the staff overall including reception area are rude,unfriendly and unhelpful. L'hötel est assez bien situé, à l'entrée du village de Stowe. La propreté ainsi que l'entretien de la chambre laissaient toutefois à désirer.
