"Bell Hop was a joke"
The rooms were nice, and so was the pool and overall hotel. The Bell Hops and Valet were a joke! We waited an hour to leave because we were waiting for the Bell Hop to come up with a cart. Then the Valet for a time lost our car, which was fixed right away. Even when we got to the hotel we had to wait 30-40 minutes for the Bell Hop to bring our cart. […] So we couldn't change to go to the pool or eat our sandwiches because we had to sit and wait. That alone will make it so I never refer this hotel or stay there again!!!!! "Watch out for hidden fees"
Beware of hidden "resort fees". Even though all charges are usually included through hotels.com, I was slapped with a resort fee upon check out. Also my room didn't have any shampoo or soap.. "A little disappointed"
I was expecting this off-strip stay to have some of the strip's perks without the traffic. It seemed to be the opposite. Crowds were terribly thick, and the smoke was awful. The room was comfortable, and the staff was pleasant. My expectations were just off in the volume of people traffic. Also, after bowing and a movie, there isn't much left to do […] if you don't gamble. The entertainment was the 'tie a yellow ribbon' singer... Though i am sure he's great, it is time for an update, I think. We left and went to the strip and had a blast after. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Aromatherapy Gone Wrong"
Actually the hotel was fine with the following exceptions that prompted me to stay only one night in a scheduled stay of six days: 1. Too far from the strip....you must catch a shuttle and pay $8 twice a day or more depending on how many times you visit the strip daily...or rent a car and then you have parking restraints. 2. More importantly, when […] you read the advertisement it states equestrian activities and shows. One would assume that horses would be kept outside and not in the hotel area, not the case, the equestrian arena is attached and housed in the hotel area; therefore, the hotel hallway and entry smells like horse manure and I mean a strong smell. Lastly, if you have allergies you may be in trouble. I will say that the staff is very friendly. So, if you are the Bonanza type go for it! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

I and my employees have been staying at South Point for many years when we are in Las Vegas but I don't know if we will stay there again. "not impressed"
I was really hoping to like this hotel because the price was great, but I will not stay there again. The staff was not very friendly, they overcharged us on our checkout bill (which took an extra 30 minutes to figure out that, yes, they did charge us about $20 too much on room service), and our room smelled heavily of smoke, even though we were in a […] non-smoking room (the front desk said they could have housekeeping spray deodorizer in our room...not a great solution.). Checking in the front desk was not helpful about where to go to find elevators to room, did not review smoking or non smoking preference, hurried at check in. The pillows and bedding were very uncomfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not what was bought and promised..... NOT GOOD!"
We ordered and payed for a mountain view kingsize room and was initially put in a room that felt like a basement looking at a concrete wall right outside our windows. If you are below 6th floor chances are that you don't see sunlight. We where moved as we complained, but to a queen bed room.... not what we ordered. Location right off the 15 is great, otherwise a major let down for the price. Do not stay if you're trying to travel cheap with kids...no fridge and no microwave, and we had the deluxe room?!? "Not an outstanding property"
Room size and bed were fine. Flat screen TV was antiquated and low resolution. Food most marginal commercial mass market grade and lacking quality. "Wear a gas mask to escape the smoke"
If you don't mind the stench of cigarette smoke everywhere, this hotel is not bad. I on the other hand do. The walk from the front door to the elevators is directly thru the center of a smoke-filled casino and is quite a hike. Despite the floor I was on being "non-smoking", the smell of smoke was still prominent. "HOT DISAPPOINTMENT"
Upon arrival, 45 minutes post check in time, were told our room would not be ready for another hour. Once in room, requested extra pillows; received them after 30 minute wait. Pillows were over-washed and lumpy. Noted immediately there seemed to be little to no AC in elevators and room hallways. In room, were constantly checking thermostat and attempting […] to cool off room. After running the AC all day when out, nights were ok for sleeping but could not imagine spending a day in the room or even into the early evening. Because many hotels do not seem to have fans in the bathrooms, purchased a fan as a precaution and were very glad we had done this. Finally decided that the thermostats must be "governed/set" to about 77 degrees, although at times set as low as 63. Packing to leave, dripping sweat, pulled the facing off the AC and discovered a FILTHY filter--lint 3/4 to one inch thick. Maintenance was up in room within about 15 minutes to change the filter, but this only "worked" to cool the room for about 30 minutes. Asked when the filters are changed, "...when we get a call like yours. Otherwise, there's no way of knowing when one was last changed." Is this not a REGULARLY scheduled, hotel-wide task? Positives: extra large room, good water pressure and height in shower, soft towels, bed seemed fairly new. Access to airport, freeways, rental car return especially easy and quick. NOT, however, a 4.5 star hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"House keeping will come at their convenience."
Left the card on the door to clean the room the first day and nobody came to clean it. The following day we went to the kiddie pool to take my grand kids thinking that when we got back the room would have been cleaned, to my surprise nobody had ever came to the room at all. The room stunk up with dirty diapers and the room looked like a tornado hit […] it. I called house keeping and they said that the women who was suppossed to clean it said that someone in our room told her no. I find that very hard to believe especially when there were babies in the room. One last thing and that is that I put the trash outside the room with the dirty diapers and they took that but never made an attempt to go in the room to finish the job. We stayed 3 nights in the Aria on the strip and then moved for one night to South Point. Basically like going from the Ritz Carlton to Motel 6. "Wow. I paid for this?"
I was very disappointed in this hotel. It had been recomended by someone who had stayed there. I arrived at 1am just hoping for a nice place to stay. There were a number of people in line and two desk personnel. It became apparent by the people being helped by one woman that you did not want to be helped by her. She was very rude and unhelpful. Many […] customers warned the people in line to be cautious. My Vegas luck started with drawing her. I thought if I was polite and smiled I could overcome her bad mood, not so. She was rude to the point of being mean. I had booked two rooms and asked if she could get me connecting rooms. It was a Tuesday night and the parking lot was empty I figured they could accomodate. Rather than say they dont have connecting rooms or the ability, she just flat out told me no. What I did get was a room that the looked out at an alley wall 20 feet away without even the ability to see if the sun was out. In addition the hallway was being recarpeted and woke up to staple guns before 9am. All this for trying to be freindly and polite to an evil woman. I didn't ask for anything special and was treated very poorly. Its pricey to get to the strip if you care and the casino is very mediocre. I wish I had booked the Tropicana.... "Better be in good shape"
The hotel is very large and you have to walk, walk, walk, walk, walk. No close in parking for the hotel guests who were dragging luggage. We were there for a trade show, and stayed at the trade show hotel for convenience so we could go to our room when needed, but it was such a long walk, there definitely was no convenience to staying there. We arranged […] for a suite, which was quite large, but very cold in appearance, with no decorations and bad lighting. We were also disappointed with the exclusion of a refrigerator and a microwave-I've never stayed in a hotel suite that did not include these items to keep drinks cold and heat up snacks. "South Point not the best value"
Hotel itself is basically okay but it ends there. Room I was given had no view whatsoever. Even though we were on the sixth floor we literally looked out onto a solid wall. No matter where else you stay in Vegas you'll most likely get some sort of view from your room or you'll at least know if it's daytime or nighttime. South Point is a well south […] of the strip and all the strip has to offer and here's there's not much of anything close to it except some condos. There were/are several casino/hotels right on strip offering rooms for the same price and these are on the monorail etc. Including South Point I have now stayed in 5 different casino/hotels in Vegas in the past year and can honestly say I'll stay on the strip in the future. Hotel does offer free airport shuttles even though you'll have to have your own car or a rental or endlessly pay for taxis for all other travel given it's location. Internet in your rooms will cost you although you can pick up wi-fi in the lobby and in some of the restaurants. Buffet is just okay but then again most casinos only offer okay buffets these days it seems. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
