Glittering, larger-than-life gambling palaces dominate Las Vegas Boulevard South, better known as The Strip. Here, hotels are destinations unto themselves. Within a three-mile stretch, visitors can see the New York City skyline, the Eiffel Tower, an Egyptian pyramid, imperial Rome, a dancing fountain, and an exploding volcano. A monorail links several hotels and the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The staff/management took care of a few charges on our bill that we thought were unfair. They stepped up and I would return with my family. It is at one end of the strip, which is tough and the hotel is slightly older than other hotels in the area. Decent value (especially with the pool area) for the money.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not what I hoped for."
Room wasn't ready at check in time and when asked if we could go to the pool we were directed to a casino bathroom to change. Many of my issues were not hotel specific...we decided to take to family to a nice dinner at Aureole, we were one of 4 tables at the time and we were largely ignored by the staff, treated like we were below them, and the food […] was terrible! "Great stay"
We enjoyed our stay quite a bit. We met up with another family and upon checkin we got a slight upgrade and resort credit since they couldn't get us on the same floor as the other family we were with. The room was great and the service excellent. There was some construction going on, but it didn't bother us at all in our room. We stayed at The Hotel […] which was super. Only drawback was the walk to the main pool was a bit of a hike. However, if that is all we could find wrong with the stay, it must have been pretty good. Will stay there again. "A step up from regular Mandalay rooms"
We booked a 1 bedroom, 2 bath suite for our holiday trip with the 2 teenage kids. The room was clean, comfy, and fairly quiet. It's a bit of a walk to the back of the Mandalay complex at first, but once you find your way around, not so bad. Mandalay is wayyyy at the end of the strip, so we were forever walking back north to other properties. The Hotel […] is a bit nicer than basic Mandalay, but not quite as posh as their Four Seasons rooms. I'd definitely stay there again. Service was friendly; front desk does get busy at times and housekeeping is unavailable in the evening or early morning--so everything must go through the front desk. "Good, not great"
I stayed with my family for two nights on the 37th floor with a view that overlooked the Luxor and the airport runway-not bad. The rooms were clean and quiet, but felt more like a small one bedroom apartment. Unlike most hotels, the coffee in the room is not conplimentary. Room service was really slow. The lobby area is undergoing renovation so it is […] dark and lifeless. In conclusion, the rooms and the general atmosphere at the Mandalay Bay are much better than the suite rooms at The Hotel. everything was OK but the resort fee charges , $25 per room per night was unexpected and missplaced ! 1. i received the confirmation mail over the phone so i couldn't see you mentioned it - it's additional 25% to the full order ( with the tax beeing levid on it ). 2. it's a mandatory fee no matter wether you used anything or not ( like us ) - even the […] free internet was not OK , we complained on it but they said it suppose to work - lucky me i had an access point ! "THEhotel suite does not compare to Venetian"
I booked a suite that according to the website was supposed to include a sitting area and encompass 750 Sq Ft. However, upon check in I was informed that I would be receiving a standard room not a suite. I had a great view of the 15 FWY and the parking structure. I could have stayed at the Venetian for $75 less per night and actually had a 750 Sq Ft. […] suite. After returning to the room on the second day after housekeeping had been in to clean the room, the housekeeping staff did not empty the trash or leave additional shampoo, etc....I have previously stayed in Mandalay Bay's suites and had great service and nice room with a view. My experience this time has made me conclude that I will never stay at either property again. The property sits at the south end of the strip and is a $40 round trip cab fare away from the center of the strip, where most of the shopping, restaurants and attractions that we were most interested in experiencing were located. This trip to Las Vegas has to be the worst experience that I have ever had in all of the years that I have been visiting. It appears that a bad economy has not improved the service level in Las Vegas, but decreased it...in my past visits the service that I received was always superb and friendly. I enjoy Las Vegas as a destination town, but I am not eager to return any time soon and will most likely choose to spend my weekend get away or vacation dollars else where in the future. Very nice place to stay, rooms are great. Smell of smoke is better than most hotels on strip. Only a couple of complaints, very minor ones - Line for hotel elevator a little long if you are on floors 24+. Line for check in is long if you get there at 4ish.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved the suite idea and it was well appointed, although not as clean as we would like. Need to have free coffee in the rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We reserved a room in THE Hotel and there were no rooms available when we arrived. We stayed an evening in the Mandalay Bay and the next day moved over to THE Hotel. Very frustrating since we had reserved a room well in advance. In addition the front desk at THE Hotel was not hepfu.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

the front desk operations is the worst I have every seen... with backoffice computer problems, they made hundreds of incoming clients wait everyday until they worked out a plan which took hours.... the computer issues started on Tuesday and was still an issue when we checked out on Friday morning,.... During checkout they had us assigned to a different […] room which would had been an very bad issue if they had assigned the acutual room to someone else.... Best to select a non MGM Resort hotel.... "Be aware of the resort fee"
The hotel is nice but I have ONE BIG complain, when I placed my reservation using Hotels.com the receipt said that all expenses where paid but then on check out they told me I have to pay a mandatory resort fee. The resort fee they informed me allows me to enter in the pool , which is close because is winter, and to get my own paper from the kiosk down […] stair. Really? 20$ per day so I can get my own paper there is something fishy going on. Not all hotels on the strip charge as they want you to believe and if the fee is mandatory WHY IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE ROOM PRICE? Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Worked out great with the kids"
We were specifically looking for a hotel in Las Vegas that was kid friendly and had reasonably priced rooms with separate living areas from the bedroom so the kids could get to bed before the adults. THE Hotel at Mandalay Bay was a little on the high side in terms of price, but otherwise it met all of our needs. It is an incredibly beautiful hotel and […] our room was very clean, modern looking, and with plenty of space. As soon as the kids got into our room (ages 6 and 2), they started running around the place and checking things out. And then they opened the curtains to the floor to ceiling windows and were blown away by our view of the Luxor pyramid and other tall, strange looking buildings on the strip. Our room had two very comfortable queen beds with 1 and half baths. The full bathroom has double sinks, a separate room for the toilet, separate shower and large tub. The hotel's beach area is perfect for the kids with several pools, jacuzzis, a lazy river and a huge wave pool. We rented a gazebo on the beach on one of our days and it works out great if you are planning on staying at the beach for most of the day. It gives you a place to get out of the sun and cool down when you need it, a safe place to keep your stuff, and a place to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner brought to you to enjoy in semi-privacy. The gazebos come with a ceiling fan, flat screen TV, small floor cabinet, table, chairs, lounge chairs, and inner tubes to use on the lazy river. The Mandalay Bay sits at the south end of the strip, but it has a shopping mall that connects it to the Luxor hotel as well as a free tram located inside the Mandalay Bay hotel that stops near the main entrances to the Luxor and Excalibur hotels. From the Excalibur you can easily get to New York, New York and MGM Grand hotels. The kids thought the tram was a train so they were excited and we rode it several times to get to MGM to see the lion habitat, M&M World, and to walk the strip a little ways to see a few sights. "THEhotel - Focus is on party atmosphere"
Be aware that, if you choose the "2 Queen Bed" option, the hotel loses its "Suite" benefits, because both of the beds are in the same room - kind of defeats the purpose of a suite in my opinion. Also, they only provide 3 bathtowels in the bathroom unless you request to have more. This was a rude awakening for me, being the 4th to take a shower LATE […] at night and not having a bath towel that wasn't already used - went downstairs to the desk, asked for a towel, only to be told to wait in the room for housekeeping to bring me one 30 minutes later ("Sorry sir, you can't access housekeeping directly for a towel"). Also be aware, if you have any interest in exercising at all, that you need to get it done EARLY! The only free access to treadmills is in the Mandalay Bay's "Cardio" facility, which closes PROMPTLY at 8:00 p.m. I was in there until 8:00 p.m. one night, and then tried to buy a bottle of water (most hotels provide this free of charge) only to be told by the teenager running the place that he had already counted his till and couldn't sell me one. If you want weights, even as a guest you get to pay $15 for using the weightroom one day, and it closes at 8:30 p.m. This is crazy - here we are in friggin Vegas, where nothing ever closes, only to find that the fitness rooms close down like a Sun City retirement community! "Not what I expected"
It all started when I tried to check in with the printed receipt from hotels.com. First, they wouldn't let me check in because the room was in my husband's name and he was not standing right there. Then they said they had me booked at the Mandalay Bay instead of THE Hotel. Thankfully I had my reservation with me and showed them where it was for THE […] Hotel. Then, after going round and round with the clerk, she finally got the manager. She said that I could check in but that my husband would have to recheck in to honor the rate and the paid-for room. Then they decided that since my driver's license with my address on it and the address on the printed receipt was the same, they would let me check in under the original reservation. The room smelled funny, like it was not clean, stains on the floor and on the bathroom wall. The bed was comfortable. One of the bath towels was dirty! Laundry service said it would be 10-15 minutes for clean towels, ended up being 45 min later. The CONCEIRGE ordered a limo for us to take us to a show, which did not arrive on time, therefore, we had to skip the limo ride. The bellhops and bell station were the best part of the stay. They were on top of things, very courteous and eager to please. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"THE Hotel in Las Vegas"
This is a good choice if you wish to be at the south end of of the Strip. It's stylish, with a cool vibe (like a W, but with bigger rooms). However, one thing that is mildly irritating is that THE Hotel charges a mandatory daily resort fee to cover in-room wifi (I didn't bring my laptop for a Vegas wknd, so who needs this?) and a gym (tho not the spa […] or gym at THE Hotel, which cost extra - just the bare-bones "cardio room" over at the Mandalay). For a high-end hotel, this is nickel-and-dime stuff and isn't disclosed until you arrive. Weak. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Rooms 5 star. Choose Restaurants Carefully however"
THEHotel has suites which are a top quality as you'll find in any 5 star hotel like Venetian etc. Staff and ammenities are excellent. Be careful of which in house restaruants you choose however. RM Seafood is one of the WORST restaurant experiences I have ever had. Obsenely OVERPRICED, charged us for still water without warning and we left hungry. 2 […] shashimi ( 4 pieces each), seaweed salad, 6 Oysters and 2 glasses of wine cost ove $100. Many items indicate MKT PRICE so you bette ask. Cold Shellfish Platter was $185 which would be $60 at any normal restaurant. Otherwise Hotel stay was well worth the price of the rooms. Overall a nice resort, just disappionted with all the extra charges for anything in the room such as coffee for $4 a cup! 1st time at the property, probably one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in, Check-in was easy and quick, The Hotel property does not have a Casino, however attached to Mandalay Bay so refreshing to be a little away from the slot machines, has a very Boutique feel and look to the property. Washrooms are very spacious and good quality fittings.Overall very good stay and would highly recommend to friends and family. Excellent hotel with a very comfortable suite provided. Very helpful, attentive staff and the room was cleaned very quickly whenever we left. My only negative comment would be what can only be described as the extortionate 'resort fee' which only really provided us with free wi fi (although this would not cost $20 + tax to use the service with my UK […] mobile telephone). The fee actually increased by $6 between booking in February 2012 and actually staying in December 2012 although the hotel did honour the original fee. My advice would be its a fabulous hotel, just make sure you take the resort fee into account when calculating the overall cost. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The suites at The Hotel are a nice size, my wife used it to entertain six ladies whilst they all got ready for a wedding. I prefer that is separate to the Casino but still has access to it.
