Hotel is good and clean. Breakfast has enough variety. It's in a convenient location too. But there is catch to free drop off to the strip. They just drop across to the Tropicana hotel and casino which is on the same street. It does not take you anywhere. Two negatives on this stay. They DO NOT have enough handicapped parking! Seemed to be a problem in a lot of places in Las Vegas. "Few nearby food options"
If you are without a car, you can take the shuttle to the strip for meals at the big casinos, or you can settle for a short walk to nearby fastfood joints if that's your thing. Also, the bar service is pretty miserable. The bartender is surly, and she doesn't open until 5pm. That is awfully late by Vegas standards. It's nice to be able to grab a beer […] after an all-day meeting, but being told that the bar won't be open for 15 minutes sorta took the wind out of my sails. Oh, and there's no beer list and the bartender is not helpful in naming the limited selection she does carry. We went on family trip to see a concert. Most family stayed at MGM paying much higher. The Hampton was literally over the freeway just off the same street - Tropicana. It was perfect. "Great Option for those who want to stay off-strip"
The Hampton Inn Tropicana is close to the strip, but not too close. Evenings are quiet, and the free shuttle to the strip makes it easy to take advantage of the Vegas "all-night" life, and still get a great night's sleep. This is a business hotel, so there are no little kids running around... this is nice if you like a quiet atmosphere. The morning […] hot breakfast has something for everyone. The pool at the Hampton is not huge but it was refreshing! This is not a "luxury" hotel... so don't expect a luxury feel. The one down-side is that there is no restaurant on-site. I ordered delivery, and while it was convenient to have them bring it right up to my room, the quality wasn't very good. The surrounding neighborhood is not the best, and you wouldn't want to walk further than the In&Out Burger across the street. So you either have to take the shuttle to the strip for meals, or hope you get lucky with delivery. One nice thing is that there was no gambling on site... no annoying clanging noises from slots. Another nice thing is that there is a bar on site for evening drinks. Finally, if you request it, the hotel will bring a mini-fridge to your room... great for saving leftovers or having a nice cold beer waiting for you when you get back each night.
