Ideal if you are stoping off, for one. night. Very close to Univ. of Maryland@College Park, and right off I95. Do not stay in the semi detached rooms away from the main building, noise from Main Street could be annoying. "Would not choose"
We stayed at this hotel for four nights. Three of those nights we sat awake listening to the room next to us playing very loud video games. This stay was in transition to moving into the area. Although we did not see any cockroaches in the hotel, when we got to our new apartment and started unpacking, two cockroaches were found crawling out of one of […] our clothes bags. "Complicated location"
1) Could not get across the street to eat out. Had to order take out delivery. 2) Heard gun shots one night. Very disturbing. 3) Heard sirens every night. "Okay for an overnight stay"
Room was in fair condition. AC unit worked great. Good shower, comfortable beds, and Tv with basic cable in the room. The room was a bit on the crammed side, but I also chose a 2 doubles room for the rate special. Front desk needed help with service a little bit. One guy was working it with 4 customers waiting and trying to answer the phone at the same […] time. Continental breakfast was average. I was disappointed though that it was supposed to be from 6-10am and when I walked down at a few minutes after 6am since I had to get up early, nothing was even set up! Most hotels I've stayed at have had everything ready on time or early. I returned back at 630 after showering and was able to at least make a bagel and get some OJ at that point, but they still weren't fully done setting up. Parking was free with enough spaces to choose from and an elevator to help move stuff depending on that floor you stay on. It is an alright hotel, you definitely get what you pay for. The rooms are clean which is good. The pool hours are definitely inconvenient, very disappointed that I didn't get a chance to use it. There were really just a couple of minor things which could be improved. The lobby and downstairs are sometimes stifling hot, I assume this is an energy-saving "technique", but it really does get uncomfortable at times walking to an fro from parking lot etc. The room, however, was comfortable. Breakfast is served too late to eat and there was no refrigerator […] in the room to accommodate any drinks/food. The neighborhood isn't great, but there are some decent places to eat at about a 10 min. drive. "Not my first choice next time."
The room was fine and had everything I needed for a brief business trip at a reasonable price for the area. But the receptionist wore the exact same dirty shirt both days I was there, the wallpaper behind her was peeling, late one night a guest was shouting on the balcony for some others to be quiet, and the second night a mother and daughter were at […] the front desk to report a stolen suitcase (with money and a computer) that had been taken while they were away for a couple of hours at dinner. "I should have slept in my car..."
The woman who worked behind the counter was as rude as they come. Don't expect anything but a key for a room with a bed, a toilet, and running water. If you stay at this place, you better have some good situational awareness as this is not a very nice part of town. Make sure the sliding glass door is locked! It is very hard to find an affordable hotel near D.C. This hotel is budget, but very satisfactory. Just 30 minute easy drive to get into the downtown area near the White House, with little or no traffic. That alone is great.
