Response by Econo Lodge Downtown Louisville Dear Guest, Thank you for reviewing our hotel for your recent stay with us. I am glad that everything worked out great and looking forward to see you in the future!
Perfectly fine for a one night stay. No problems, although I wish they didn't charge me 5 bucks for parking when the lot was 90% empty that night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"right around the corner from my conference hotel -"
My conference was at the Marriott on West Jefferson and it took me 2 minutes to walk there and saved me alot of money. I love the fact that you have ALOT of TV channels (as my netflix was too slow). I highly recommend Econolodge. It was within walking distance to everything in Louisville, KY. To see the Ohio River go toward the river on Fifth Street. […] Thanks guys. The location is very central. Easy walking distance to the convention center, 4th Street Live, and the bigger hotels that host meetings. Especially for an inexpensive option, the hotel was clean and well maintained. No complaints...Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Worth the money for the location"
Recently I stayed here for a conference I had at the Marriott, the room was way cheaper and only a short walk to my conference and downtown 4th street where all the FUN is!!! The room was nice and clean and the front staff very helpful in finding the places around and directions for entertainment, if I ever visit Louisville again this is where I will […] stay!! Response by Econo Lodge Downtown Louisville Thank you for staying with us! I'm sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay, but thank you for bringing these issues to my attention so that I can address them with our staff. Pete Patel General Manager
Great downtown location. They staff was helpful and the price was right. The free breakfast was very limited. They did have a security guard in the lobby, but the surrounding neighborhood is kinda sketchy at night. The gas station across the street had drunks hanging around and urinating on the building, etc.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Clean, nice enough for the price. I felt a little unsafe with the doors being outside, rather than in a hall and the night person behind a window for his own safety. But it was near where I needed to be and a good value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, would not stay again though"
I was attending a conference a block away and wanted to save money staying at this hotel. I was nervous about walking to the conference since there were several people wandering around who appeared to be homeless. I was on the first floor and throughout the night (Friday) people were going up and down the steps loudly waking me up as if they were returning […] from partying. The heat worked well, but kicked on and off incessantly blowing the curtains up over me as I slept. The hotel is rough in appearance and I would not stay there again. I did enjoy a bagel, juice and coffee in the morning, however, which was the best part of staying at this hotel. I am glad I did not stay at this hotel alone and only stayed one night for minimal time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not worth the savings"
I stayed here for a conference downtown. For this purpose, the location is very convenient. There is little to recommend about this hotel though. Many small issues add up: instead of shampoo & conditioner, there were only two bottles of shampoo (both nights). The carpet had some black stains on it near the door. When I woke up, I found there was a used […] band-aid stuck to my sheet. We found a live bat on the ground directly outside our room -- it's not really the hotel's fault that a sickly animal decided to sleep/die there, but still. The hotel breakfast is just low-grade sweets and carbs (soggy muffins, etc) with some hard boiled eggs that didn't look too fresh. All of these 2 star hotel annoyances might be worth it if you were saving money, but in comparing rates with other conference attendees, I learned that for the same price I could have stayed at one of the many other 3 star or 3.5 star hotels that were a walking distance away. This hotel was nothing special but our room was clean and the location is great.....it was pretty cheap as well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"value for downtown location"
Overall, this hotel provides value for a downtown stay. It had adequate continental breakfast which was okay since not many fast food locations were near the area and were open during breakfast. My room was just by a main street and it was noisy at night with vehicles screeching and honking their horns.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Price - Below Average Rooms"
Stayed in February 2012 - After reading other reviews, I wanted to give Econo Lodge a chance....but it backfired! The best part of the hotel is the price (1/2 all other hotels in downtown Louisville). However, the overall experience was well below average. The rooms are old and dirty. The street traffic was really loud and you can hear conversations […] in the rooms next to you (walls are very thin). We had cold showers in the morning. Hotel staff is not friendly. We found staff sleeping in the lobby at 8:00am in the morning. We lowered our expectations in staying at Econo Lodge due to the other reviews; however our experience was less than desirable. In the future, we will be staying at another competitor in downtown Louisville. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
at 1 AM I woke up chilly, so turned on the heat. i blew only cold air until I turned it off. At 3 A.M. I woke up to a beeping sound that went off every 30 seconds; after trying unsuccessfully for twenty minutes to locate said beep I went back to bed. Started the coffee pot while I jumped in the shower and came out to a watery mess. Sorry, Econo-lodge, […] this was not my best night on the road. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I work for a non-profit organization and was challenged to find a cheaper hotel than was being offered for the conference "discount" rate. I will admit that I was nervous after reading some of the reviews, but I went for it anyways. I was attending a conference, so I wasn't in my room very often. I need a place to sleep, shower and store my things. The […] hotel was fine. Great location in downtown, close to all of the hotels and conference center. My room was clean and seemed to be updated fairly recently -- no flat screen tvs or anything, but it didn't remind me of the 80s. I was on the third floor and could hear some noise from the outside, but it wasn't too bad. The service was alright and there was a continental breakfast that I never made it to. There was a microwave and fridge in the room which was convenient. For my circumstances, this hotel suited me fine. If I was to travel back to Louisville, I would explore other options but would be open to staying again for business. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Cheap and in a great location"
If you're looking for a place to crash while you do it up in downtown Louisville, why not just stay at the Econo Lodge? Not only is it affordable, but its mere blocks from a great pocket of restaurants (go to Doc Crow's!) and the newly built KFC Yum! Center (which is hoppin' on basketball nights). For all you coffee fiends, there is a Starbucks in […] the Downtown Marriott, which is catercorner to the Econo Lodge. The staff was friendly and even called me right after I checked in to make sure my room was satisfactory. I didn't expect this kind of service from such a place. If for some reason you came out to Louisville and decided NOT to go out and enjoy Downtown, there is a Papa John's Pizza attached to hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Moldy smelling with no working heater"
The good - great cable, free wifi, good location, large refrigerator, microwave, abundant hot water in the shower. The bad - the room had no working heater. musty smelling. Shabby rooms. They couldn't move me into another room since they were sold out. They shrugged it off, while I shivered under blankets all night. Plus the fact that it's a motel, […] means you hear a lot of street noise, and people stomping past your room. Invariably guests on the third floor think it's way cool to yell down to their friends in the parking lot. Bottom line I wish I had just spent more and stayed at the Marriott across the street. (The Marriott btw has a taxi queue in front of the hotel, which is convenient to the Econo Lodge - the Marriott has a nice place to get breakfast too). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a good place to stay for a good night of sleep"
One rude front desk attendant. Room smelt bad, heater fan made horrible squeeling and rattling noise. Paper thin walls, have no sound insulation to block out noise from loud neighbors at night. Able to get a lousy two and a half hours of sleep before an 8 hour exam the next day. WAY over-priced. The ONLY benefit in staying here is the convenient location […] to downtown activities. In Louisville for GIE 2011. Hotel near 4th st entertainment, shuttle bus to show picked up across street. Bed was kind of saggy but I was so tired I slept ok. Need a couple toasters in breakfast nook. Couple staff I met were polite and efficient.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good downtown location"
Good hotel for the money, for it's location. Room was clean. TV, fridge, & microwave worked. About $50 less per night than some of the other hotels. $5 per night parking, but other downtown hotels were charging closer to $20 per night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"cheap and close, good for single travellers"
The room was nice and clean, and the location was really close to the convention center. However, be aware that it can get noisy here because (1) the parking lot is adjacent to the rooms and (2) the walls are super thin and you can help your neighbors. "Worst hotel ever"
I will never go to that hotel anymore and I really don't recommend anybody to stay there unless they have no other choice. To give you an idea, I wouldn't go out of the room after 7pm. The neighborhood is really bad, loud music until very late a night, noisy clients in the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It was ok, but I don't think we'll stay there next time"
I didn't realize how old this hotel is. Our room was clean enough and fairly nice for such an old building. The room was considered a non-smoking room, but definately smelled of smoke and there were burn holes in the bedspread. The hotel is right downtown and there was alot of traffic all night so it was VERY noisy. We had to pay $5.00 to park in the […] hotel parking lot so we wouldn't be towed but I was more worried about the car being broken into since we didn't have a window in the front of our room to keep an eye on things. Wi-fi was available, but good luck getting enough signal to actually connect. If you're on a budget & need to stay cheap, this will pass. We'll pay more & stay somewhere else next time though. "EconoLodge in L'ville--pretty good, but loud"
I would have given all stars to everything, but the location (though right next to the convention center, fancy hotels, etc.) is questionable. Woke up several times at night because there were (seemingly) several loud bachelor parties going on. A police car in the parking lot makes sure that the guest stay safe. Nothing happened and we did feel safe, […] but it would have been better had the police not needed to have a presence there. After all the good things I had heard about L'ville, my stay left me wondering why they would build the convention center in such an ugly part of town. But the hotel stay was great: very affordable and nice, clean rooms. Just don't forget the earplugs! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It's not the Marriott across the street, but it feels reasonably clean. The bed was comfortable. It was nice to have a fridge, a microwave, and a desk. And it was a good price for a downtown hotel. If you're really picky about your hotel, don't bother. But if you're looking to save money, this is an attractive option.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Budget hotel next to the expensive towers"
Privately owned franchise of a chain, this doesn't have the luxury of the big chain towers next door and nearby, rather a more motel-like feel. In fact, with the big central parking lot, it IS a motel. Free continental breakfast & in-room coffee, microwave and fridge, well maintained, this is a fine and safe option for budget travelers. My only complaint […] was that there was a slight trace of smoke smell in my room. I didn't ask for a smoke-free room though, don't know whether they were offered (no ash tray in there, though). Hotel was surprisingly convenient and adequate for my needs. One block from the Kentucky International Convention Ctr where I was attending a conference. I stayed one night. I needed to be close to the Court House and that was why I stayed here. Cable TV is really bad, you get to see a few channels and the signal is bad for the ones that you get. "One night stay - not too cheap - location"
I had to stay a night in Louisville and chose this motel only because of its closeness to the Court House. I thought that for the price I paid...it was not too cheap for the comfort they offered. The cable service is really bad; it really needs to be improved. I could only watch a few channels with real bad reception. Outdated TV sets. The front desk […] guy was not very helpful either. He needs to be more friendly, smile some for the customer. If your plan is only for one night...it will be ok. I really stress the fact that it was the closeness to the Court House that routed me to this motel. If I had to go to Downtown Louisville for fun I would look for a different motel or place to stay. The free continental breakfast is just what the name free implies...nothing special about it. So, to conclude my rating on this motel is based more on its location than anything else. Booked this hotel far too late for an industry conference. I will be booking far in advance for next year at a different hotel. Walked in and new immediately I was in a budget hotel. "Convenience to downtown is the only appeal"
This hotel is in a very convenient area to everything downtown. But that's the only thing it has going for it. When I went into my room, I quickly discovered that of the 3 light fixtures in the room, only 1 of them actually had a bulb in it. Half the channels listed on the TV guide didn't exist. There were no glasses in the bathroom - am I alone in […] thinking that's handy when brushing your teeth? And I didn't sleep well at all due to the noises from the street (and I was on the 2nd floor). If you're looking for a cheap place to stay downtown, this is it, but don't get your expectations up too high because cheap is the key word. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"would not recommend the hotel to anyone."
had to go down to utility room to get towels, trashbags, etc for the room with the only person on staff at the hotel. The door wouldn't like, which is not a safe thing in any public area. There was no wi-fi connection, which delayed alot of important time related emails regarding the trip.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel, bad front desk staff experience"
The location is great, walking distance to downtown attractions. Much cheaper than nearby hotels. Rooms are decent size, bed was comfortable, everything was clean. Not "luxurious" by any means, but for the money I was pleased. Some street noise, but that's only to be expected in a downtown hotel. The front desk clerk was on his cell phone (obviously […] a personal call) when I arrived. Rather than hang up, he continued talking. I eventually handed him my ID, credit card and confirmation number (he was still on the phone). He didn't notice that my stay had been prepaid and swiped my credit card anyway. He ended up having to call his general manager to make sure that the hold would be removed from my credit card. He did finally hang up to explain his mistake and tell me how excited he was that this girl was coming to town (frankly. none of my business). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Earns both its stars"
Went there for business, largely because all the other nearby hotels were booked. Keeping in mind this is a two star hotel, I though it was fine with my only complaints a hair dryer that did not work, a friend tried to call me on the phone and the front desk did not pick up and a flickering fluoro light in the bathroom. Otherwise the room was clean […] (though a little dated), room service was fine, breakfast was basic but appreciated and the noise levels was generally OK. No beggars in the car park. The only time the noise got a bit much was in the afternoon of my last day when the place was full for the Thunder over Louisville fireworks, which is understandable. Aesthetically unattractive, but perhaps you get what you pay for. One receptionist was clueless and borderline unfriendly, another one was very helpful. Windows don't open at all, not even a crack.
