The stay was comfortable, but we paid for a room with an ocean view and could not see the ocean from our window. When I asked the front desk about it they told me that it was a view from the door or first floor. Very disappointing, especially for a 6 year old who can clearly tell the difference. "Renovated but has some issues"
We stayed for several days and enjoyed the time. It's right on the water and we could see the ocean from both balconies. The pool inside was not working and the one outside is just being built (we knew that from reading the posts previous to our stay so it was not a shock). The staff is nice and friendly but the property has some issues until the full […] renovation is done. Some people complained of a musty smell in the room which I didn't quite get but the hallways there was some sense of that (but it's an ocean front motel folks there is bound to be a bit of that). They compensate for the musty hallways (maybe they read previous posts) with automatic airfresheners. The one in our hallway ran low or the battery was dying because it kept making a beeping sound. Additionally there was an every so often sewage smell. At first I thought it was low tide but I think it has more to do with the digging they are doing for the pool. The location of the hotel is great. As is the hotel itself. The hotel has a lot of plus points...but lots of minuses too. My husband and I were hot and tired after a long drive to the Cape. We were ready to jump in the pool and cool down and relax. But when we got there, we were told that BOTH!! pools were under maintenance. This is an understatement. […] Both pools were actually being redone it seemed. (We later found out through another person that the pools have been "under maintenance" for 2 years !) This was our biggest disappointment. After what we paid for this room, there was no indoor pool, no outdoor pool, no firepit, nothing outside (it was all being redone.) They told us we can use the pool at the sister hotel which is very close by. But if anyone has seen the traffic on the Cape, you know that a 5 minute drive is really a half hour away. How inconvenient. I would have hoped they let you know before you book the hotel about the condition of the place. They really should discount the rooms more in this case. for the amount I paid, I could have spent the same amount elsewhere and gotten more amenities. The only other thing that was disappointing was the bed. It was too soft. I sunk in when I lay down on it. My back really hurt the next morning. This resort just spent millions on remodeling and updating. Our bathroom door was jammed closed we had to shove it hard to open it. "Ocean Mist Hotel, So Yarmouth, MA ~ Great Location"
Loved that we were right on the ocean. Nice beach that was raked clean each morning. Plenty of beach chairs, too. Pool was great for the kids, tho too warm for me. The room was plenty big. Ours was one of the few units that faced the ocean. Nice view. Front desk was VERY reposnsive to our needs. Nice residential area. Plenty of restaurants; great mini-golf; […] an aquarium; grocery stores; many fun, seasonal shopping choices; all just a very short drive away. Here's the bad part of the review...One of the beds definitely needed a new mattress. It was warped and uncomfortable. The bathroom had a mildew issue - which they addressed with housekeeping but, they really needed to do a better cleaning job in there. I understand that we were there toward the end of the season and, being right on the ocean, there's always moisture in the air but, I think they should take a little more pride in their cleanliness. Okay so the location is great to stay in - not great to drive to...it's grand to walk out of your room, across the p-lot and be able to swim in the sound. Booked the hotel despite some of the negative comments. Location is great; however, the only pool was again out of service for the three days we were there. Avoid rooms on the first floor if you can. This hotel was very nice and close to the beach. They get a gold star for the beds and pillows, very comfortable. On our second day our room wasn't cleaned so my husband had to visit the front desk for towels & toliet paper. The next day they did make up the beds and take out the trash but didn't leave coffee or soap for the dishes. We found the hotel […] maid and asked her to bring some and she did. They do advertise a pool but it was "out of order" for the 4 days we were there and the ice machine also wasn't in working order. We don't have children so the pool wasn't a big deal for us. The good: This hotel is in a great location - on the beach and in the middle of Cape Cod. The bad: The carpet felt slightly damp which was unpleasant. This is mixed review, as the room was clean, the setting was perfect, and the staff was friendly, but aloof. My main concern was the late check-in time (my reservation said 3:00, but a sign at reception said 4:00, and the lady at the counter added, "if you're lucky!" - with an attitude that was matter-of-fact and sort of indifferent to the fact that […] I was holding a 15-month old who was in dire need of a diaper change and nap after a 5-hour car ride. The highly-touted pool was also out of commission, due to a chemical problem, which was greeted with much displeasure from all the guests, but with same, almost "so sad, too bad" attitude of the woman at reception. Location is excellent. Accomodations are not luxurious, but adequate. Lack of a microwave was inconvenient. Being right on the beach was very convenient. Eigentlich keine Hotel, sondern eher Apartment mit Zimmer-Service; es gibt kein Restaurant oder Frühstück, auch keine Getränke zu kaufen. Internet funktioniert nur in der Hotel-Lobby, die aus zwei Sesseln besteht, die permanent belegt sind, da ja die meisten Hotelgäste ihre E-Mails lesen wollen. Im Prinzip ist das alles akzeptabel, der Strand ist ganz […] schön und die Lage eigentlich gut (auch wenn ich jedem empfehlen würde weiter in Richtung Truro zu gehen). Während unseres Aufenthalts war das Schwimmbad wegen Renovierung geschlossen, auf dem Gelände wurden Wasserleitungen verlegt (Baulärm und teilweise etwas strenger Geruch), aber wir haben das Apartment auch eigentlich nur zum Übernachten genutzt.
