"Mixed Use Building, Clinical Feel, Chemical Smell"
Building has dialysis center on ground floor and hotel floors split between temporary and permanent guests. Ran by a christian mission, pictures of underprivileged children on the walls in the hallway. Room felt like an upgraded hospital room. "CLOSE TO ISLE OF CAPRI CASINO"
THIS HOTEL WAS A CHEAP PLACE TO STAY & VERY CLOSE TO THE CASINO. THE BREAKFAST AREA WAS NOT MAINTAINED WHILE WE WERE THERE SO IT WAS GETTING PRETTY DIRTY. "Creeped Me Out!"
I am a totally chill traveler and do not need much at a hotel but this place was too weird for me. It used to be a hospital and the rooms are past locked double doors (like a psych ward) and circle a large common area (that in my case was playing religious programming on repeat). The drop ceiling and hospital-style bathroom made me feel like I was sleeping […] in an office (until I wondered how many people had died in this room). The hotel is owned by a conservative religious group with very particular beliefs and there is a lot of literature about it in the room. I did not feel comfortable with rules that made me feel like I was in rehab or being chaperoned. No smoking or drinking is allowed and you are subject to a $250 fine if you are caught with any. I dont drink or smoke but this seemed a bit much. There was a DVD player in the room but you could only get the power cord if you rented their church-approved list of films. It is certainly the hotel's prerogative to operate as they choose but they were not up front about their religious motives or their behavioral expectations on the hotels.com website. Hi. I am writing this review because of the wonderful stay I had at the Forum. I had such excellent care from the front desk and a wonderful, clean room with a king bed for the most reasonable rate I have every found! Plus, it included a continental breakfast! Everyone was friendly and helpful. I was actually just staying two days before leaving for […] a cruise from Miami and was able to use the local bus to get to and from the beach as well as restaurants and stores. The bus pick-up is right on the road past the parking lot of The Forum. I even used this system with the T-rail and spent 1/10 of the price to get to Miami vs. the cost from the shuttle service. I didn't need a rental car and next time I come here will use the bus or t-rail right from the airport since it will bring me right to The Forum now that I am familiar with the area. Yes, it is a renovated hospital and so the bathrooms are small with no tub...but clean and nice shower head and great sized room with plenty of pillows and plasma T.V. Also, internet available to guests with computers since I was traveling light with no lap-top. I was nervous because the price was so low on line but VERY happy once I got there!!!!! Just know there is no pool, but there is a work out area...and the beach is easy to get to. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to my friends and to you!. We drove from orlando to pompano in a caravan of 5 cars, all of us stayed at the forum. At check in, we had to sign a no alcohol or smoking waiver. When i recieved my room key, i went upstairs and its completely locked down. You have to have your room key where ever you go in the hotel. Well when i got to my room, the room key was worthless, i actually […] had to get a KEY to get into my room. The rooms were nice, asked for a king bed, and got a double beds. Was not happy about that. The next morning we were woken up by house keeping who talked very loud and were not quiet at all. We eventually left. And did not arrive back to later that night. And to our surprise, our room was not turned down. And no clean towels. It took them almost 1hr to get our clean towels later that evening. I was told by mgmnt that they had several complaints that weekend, and were gonna speak to their staff. No compesation or anything. Didnt really seem like they cared. "The Forum in Pompano Beach"
For the exceptionally low price of about half of the next cheapest competitor, the hotel was a great bargain. The hotel has a common room area on each floor that have a large screen TV, DVD & VCR player, and several sofas, chairs, and tables. This area also has internet ports available for your laptop. This area is great for meetings or just hanging […] with friends or family. The rooms themselves are small with tiny bathrooms. That said the shower worked great and there was plenty of hot water. The mattresses in my room were old and should be replaced. The room was clean and the temperature control worked great. The hotel also had a common kitchen area where you could cook your own meals. This area included a table so you had room to eat whatever you cooked. The hotel does not hide the fact that it is religous in nature. You have to sign an agreement that you won't drink alcohol or smoke anything. One night when I was there there was a form of a religous retreat taking place in the Common area. if you are uncomfortable with religion then you shouldn't stay at the Forum.
