"Perfect location & helpful staff"
My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3 day getaway at the River Hotel. We could easily walk to the theater to see "Book of Mormon" and to Michigan Avenue for a day of shopping. It was cold so we took the EL to the Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium but that was easy too. The River Hotel was located in the heart of the city near both shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. Subway stations were nearby, but we chose to walk everywhere we went. The rooms were clean, well-designed and practical. My only complaint is that we were on the second floor and we had to call down on both nights of our stay to ask that the restaurant […] turn down the music that played out to the sidewalk - which they did without a problem so it really was a non-issue. I booked this hotel because of the affordable price and went in with low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel. It was a great location (Across the street from the Trump Tower).... the room we live in can see the river, but the room is so small, and dark. The parking charged not cheap at all. No breakfast and food in hotel is expensive, but the size is big. The TV is ok. "Worst Bed Ever"
The hotel has an excellent location but the rooms are small! The tv is tiny and the bed is the worst bed I have ever slept on. The sheets are like paper, it made it really difficult to sleep comfortably. The bed is really hard. Overall I had trouble having a good night sleep during the trip. The restaurant located at the lobby was great!! And the free […] water bottles next to the elevator are also a nice touch. Also, be careful with the room service people. My first night someone walked into the room after i said it was occupied and i was getting out of the shower!! There is barely closet space since the closet is a cabinet. "Great stay, location, and great Hotel"
We stayed at the River Hotel for Super Bowl weekend. The room was very clean and well kept, the staff was very nice and friendly, and the in hotel restaurant was awesome. They had Eugene on tap which was they actually ran out of at Revolution Brewing. It was in an excellent location. We walked (albeit it was a long walk) to Millenium Park, the Bean, […] and Willis/Sears Tower. The only issue I had was the size of the room I booked, but that's pretty standard issue as most hotels go. Next time I go back to Chicago, I will definitely be staying at the River Hotel. Great stay, my second time staying at River Hotel, even though I eventually switched rooms to the Club Quarters, they allowed me to switch to a room with a microwave and refrigerator, it was great and had a much better view, just isn't as updated as River Hotel, they are in the same bldg, River Hotel are the lower level rooms, and club quarters are […] up top. We took in all the sights from the Navy Pier to Hancock Tower and all the great stores of Michigan Ave. and Millennium Park. This hotel is great only if you don't plan on hanging out in the room much. It is in a great location near a lot of fun tourist sights in Chicago. But the rooms are tiny and the mattresses are hard as rock. Stay here if you are insured a room with a good view overlooking the river.
