The hotel itself reminds me of really nice 5 star hotels in Europe's finest cities. Great beds, linens, and showers. Very friendly staff and the fastest room service I've ever ordered. The Dana Hotel was the best choice we made the entire trip. The rooms were sheik and modern, very clean. The staff were lovely, friendly and incredibly accommodating. Every time I saw a house keeper, she greeted me and my partner with a warm smile and a "how are you?" "A bit disappointing"
We thought the hotel would have been a lot nicer, especially for the price. The room was not cleaned very well (floor was dirty and carpet needed to be cleaned), the bed was lumpy, small for what was supposed to be a king, and a little overdone. "Beautiful but Extremely Loud."
The Dana is a beautiful hotel. We loved the room and bar area. The entire stay was perfect until we attempted to go to sleep. I am not sure if they tried to save money on insulation, but the hotel is soooo loud. We could hear every little movement in the hotel, from extremely loud guests, to the elevator to every person walking up and down the hall. "Not really a "spa" environment"
The hotel itself is great - perfect location, great rooms, we even had a balcony. However, since we're from out of town we had no idea the bar on the roof is such a late night hotspot. There were drunk loud people wandering around our floor, the lobby, and lined up outside the hotel until 3am. My fiance and I spent this past weekend at the Dana Hotel and Spa and we are going to make this our staple for future trips to Chicago. This is one of the newer hotels in great location near Michigan Ave close to great restaurants. Unbeatable service and upscale rooms. Hands down the best hotel mattress we've ever flept on. There is also a great nightclub on the top floor that's quite popular and the spa seems to offer a significant amount of services at reasonable rates for in-hotel service. I only gave it a 4 out of 5 for maintenance because of a dirty furnace filter that I think affected the heat. However, maintenace came right up and had it replaced in less than 2 minutes! "Everything was great except..."
We've stayed in a corner room at the Dana twice and enjoyed it both times. It is an amazing hotel with lots of great touches of luxury. That said, the placement of the desk in the corner suites is awful because it blocks much of the amazing view from the floor to ceiling windows. There is plenty of space to move the entire dresser/desk furniture unit […] towards the door, which would leave the entire corner area wide open for the best views. It's really disappointing that a view with such great potential is ruined by a desk and a bunch of ugly plugs/wires underneath it. We would love to see this changed on a future visit. "Great Boutiqueish style hotel, great for Adults!!"
This hotel was so nice , the staff remembered us and were so kind. It was in the river North Area which I love, It is a great hotel for Adults, we stayed to celebrate our Anniversary. The Japanese bar/Restaurant inside was great too, and the Vertigo lounge on the top floor was a neat place to hang out. They have tons of comfy couches and free popcorn, […] a dance floor,and outside rooftop seating with fireplace. We went on a Sunday night up there when it was calmer and just relaxed and listened to music. I had a pre-natal massage, it was very relaxing and the steam room was nice afterwards! The only "complaint" I do have is for all the hotels we have stayed at in Chicago, this by far has the highest overnight parking of them all. It was 48 per night. I told my husband next time we will just take the Amtrak up instead of driving, and will save a bunch of money!! But other than that, we would definitley stay again. A very nice modern hotel, but rooms are a bit small. The Vertigo bar was really cool with good views of Chicago. The hotel wasn't as big as I expected, but was very nice and Cesar the bell man was very nice and friendly, but my husband said the bell man with the furry hat didn't watch his bags! Loved the location, cleanliness, friendliness of the staff, and modern decor. Was a little frustrated with the noise the cleaning team made all day long. Doors were opening and slamming every 5 minutes starting around 8:30am. If you are an early riser, this shouldn't be problem. We loved the decor at The Dana Hotel and Spa. The bed was wonderful. The instant hot water in the bathroom was great - shower great. The elevators a bit tricky as you had to use rm key to get to your floor and several times the elevator went right past the floor. "Great stay at the Dana"
Thoroughly enjoyed our three day stay at the Dana. This hotel is not about glitz, but more about style. Reviews were absolutely correct about the service...fantastic, but those complaining of ”old” or ” outdated” must have been searching for flaws. Walking in for the first time, you are a little shocked but immediately relaxed since you are standing […] in the lounge glancing at a well appointed bar anticipating that pre-dinner cocktail. After your luggage is attended to by one of the amazing doorman, you may take a short elevator ride to the second floor to check in. No fancy lobby, it's not necessary because the service is top notch. The lounge directs dining guests in two directions. Climb a short staircase to the sushi bar or head to the dining room adjacent. The menu is well done with Asian influences and we were told they are two weeks from a fully Asian-infusion inspired menu. We were checked into room 1013. It was on the small side, but it didn't matter. When you walk in you notice the beautiful wood floors, comfy king bed with SOFT pillows, well stocked honors/snack bar, wall mounted LCD tv, and walk-out patio. Our room did not have floor to ceiling windows, but that was fine. I will upgrade to a corner room next time for the view. We loved the location. Yes, it's not the Gold Coast, it's River North, but we were still within walking distance of great shopping and dining. We walked the length of Michigan Ave north of the river all the way to the State st. flagship Macys. After a day of walking and shopping the city, Justin, behind the bar at the Dana, mixed some superb cocktails. With an evening of dining and lounging ahead, I finally felt like I was vacationing.
