"Short trip"
Had a quick business trip to Chicago. Second time at the Dana. Overall a great stay. Only minor issues. First, the room service menu is limited. I arrived late in the evening and had a hard time finding a good menu item despite being very hungry. Other hotels have been better at this. Second was the response when I asked for a late checkout. I called […] "guest services" and asked to leave at 2 instead of 12. The person that answered the phone just immediately said "no, there are no late checkouts today". I understand that not every request can be honored but the way he responded came off as rude and inflexible. It did not reflect well on the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"1hour martini & room service fees ruined my stay"
My experience began with Blaire at check in and I was excited about my stay. The room was nice spacious and modern. That evening I went to the roof top bar for a night cap around 9pm it took 20 minutes to flag down a server, ordered a martini up was served 10 minutes later a warm glass of vodka on an unclean and uncleared table. 10 more minutes got […] to get the servers attention. He left to correct it and 20 minutes later I am still without my cocktail left as he was serving someone else food. There was maybe 20 people in the lounge, I stopped at the front desk to complain did not see any one of managerial status upstairs and she offered to have a martini delivered to my room which was an appropriate offer that I politely refused. Next morning I ordered b-fast, corned beef hash and grapefruit juice they brought cranberry noting they were out of Grapefruit and would remove the charge but never did. My bill with service fee, auto gratuity and taxes added 60% to the cost of the food. none of which was stated on the menu. Had b-fast with a client on my last day and needed my check which took nearly 10 minutes to produced, coffee was warm and bitter, food was decent. This is cool place good for business but they need to seriously review their food service and restaurant management. Beware of $44 parking fee. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Vegas in Chicago"
I managed to get an excellent rate at the Dana for an extended business weekend, and I must say, this is a top notch establishment! Their staff was the epitome of professionalism, going out of their way to serve their guests. The Vertigo nightclub was incredibly slick, on par with many of the city's established sites. My only regret was not being fit […] a meal at Aja into my stay. My only critique is that the spacious, king-size mattress was a little too soft. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Definitely worth considering"
Very nice hotel in a great location. Rooms are small but everything is modern and quite comfortable. All the details often forgotten are included - outlet near the bed, towel hangers in bathroom, free internet, refrigerator you can fit your own stuff in, nice coffee machine, etc. Get a corner room for a small balcony.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice location"
The hotel is close to two stops on the Red line and some great tapas and delicious Italian food. The views are great. The shower view from the room is a strange feature.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Loved it, but what's with the velvet rope?"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Dana. One thing puzzled us, however. On street level there was a bank of elevators but on Friday and Saturday night there was a huge bouncer-type of guy with secret service type of earpiece apparently guarding the elevators. Throw in a velvet rope and it felt like guests like us were intruding upon some kind of […] VIP event. Yes, the large bouncer guy allowed us to use the elevator, but it just seemed pretentious and ridiculous. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Awesome"
Really great hotel in the heart of Chicago.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I have generally had good experiences at the Dana. However, the hotel lost several items of laundry that I sent out for cleaning during my stay. I understand that they outsource this service to a third-party, and that these things happen. My chief complaint is that the gentlemen working the front desk that evening couldn't have been less interested […] in helping me track down the missing items, and failed to follow-up as promised. "Great hotel and place to stay - no pool, though"
Great hotel with wood floors, floor to ceiling glass in the rooms, super comfortable beds, and great design. I travel a lot for work, and have stayed at a few hotels in the world at this level. I was very comfortable and would definitely stay here again. One note, the hotel says "Spa," but there is NO pool. Leave the trunks at home. I didn't. ;)Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great stay at the Dana"
Recently spent two nights at the Dana and really enjoyed it. Attentive service, clean & sleek rooms, and convenient location. Wireless internet worked without any problems and the king bed was extremely comfortable. I liked the iPod stereo/charger. As other people pointed out, inside the bedroom there is a curtain that can be pulled back to reveal the […] shower and the entire bathroom. The only things I did not like: -There is just one ice machine in the hotel and it is located on the 5th floor. I had to call the front desk to find that out. When I got to the 5th floor all the lights were off; after finding the ice machine I had to look for a doorstop to hold the door open while I filled up my bucket. -I was warned ahead of time that the key cards were sensitive. On the second day of my stay the key card stopped working and I couldn't get into my room. Had to go back to the front desk to get a replacement. -My room was on the 19th floor and I could faintly hear the music from the rooftop lounge on Friday night. It wasn't bad enough to keep me awake, but I could see how it would bother some people. Upon my arrival I asked one of the staff members where he would recommend getting a hearty bowl of soup since it was snowing. He directed us to "Soup Box" just four blocks away, and it was just what I was looking for! All in all, I would definitely stay at the Dana again in the future! Room Tip: Try asking for a room on a higher floor for a better view. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"ranks high in consideration set"
i have multiple night stays in hotels every week. When in Chicago Dana is one I look for -- when they have a decent rate. Great central location, walk anywhere, friendly staff, always clean. Small (teeny) balcony that isn't functional for anything but is a must -- I abhor the kitty box rooms without working windows/fresh air option.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Dana Hotel Chicago"
Super nice and clean boutique hotel in Chicago. About 4-5 blocks from Michigan Av. The personnel from doorman to Concierge were extremelly nice and professional. The room I had was the perfect size. It was a corner rear facing room with a King bed and a terrace. That was nice as I cold open the window and walk out. I think that's the smaller size. I […] first saw a similar sized one but not on the corner. Nice but a bit "dungeony" (dark). They had no problem changing me to the corner unit. The front rooms are super nice also. My girlfriend used the spa and loved it. The exercise room is small but I lucked out as there was no one else using it. Finally, there's a very hip bar at the top, busy on Fridays and Saturdays. All and all a very nice, convenient hotel with outstanding personnel. Great for a business trip or retreat with your SO. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Boutique Hotel"
Clean room, comfortable bed, nice shower, great location. Although I was in Chicago on business and did not take advantage of all amenties in the hotel, I would book it again. It has a funky, upbeat atmosphere. The doormen were terrific.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel. Great location. Great service."
I loved staying at the Dana. It is very high end but has a very personal, comfort feel to it. The service was accommodating and friendly, and always in a timely manner. The location cannot be beat. Would definitely visit again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Really lovely hotel, great location. Huge showers...sitting room, bedroom, massive bathroom with two of everything. Would totally go back.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Outrageous charges"
Overall the hotel was very nice. However, they charged me $70 because I had a spot of make up on a towel and I opened the complimentary size body wash. Who knew those 2 things could equal such an outrageous price. I took pictures of my room that would clearly show how nice I left it but who knew I'd have to take a picture of the body wash container […] and a towel. Even though the hotel was nice I will never stay here again. That was hospitality robbery. Be Careful! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Contemporary High Value Boutique hotel"
fuggetabout the big chains and grand dame hotels if you want comfort, great value, and good location. the Dana is a sleek contemporary hotel with high quality beds, TV, and iPod sound system plus free wireless internet. the rooms are sparse (concrete ceilings, no bureau) but not small (king size bed, desk, balcony, rainhead shower, bathroom, closet). […] good restaurants nearby but do eat at Aja inside the hotel. i had lunch (delicious bemimbop korean bowl), breakfast twice (eggs benedict with salmon, customized omelet with home fries) and drinks/apps over a 2-night stay. used the exercise room which included modern equipment and free weights. no time for the spa, but maybe next visit? i will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Chicago! "Pleasantly surprised."
Having previously lived in Chicago, I am familiar with most of the "name" hotels in the city. When I have returned on business, I have stayed at a few different hotels throughout the city. This was my first stay at The Dana. It is a very modern, very hip hotel. My room was small but functional. The bed was very comfortable. The room service menu was […] somewhat limited due to the fact that the hotel restaurant is an Asian fusion type of place. The hotel bar is very cool. The location is fantastic. Other than the fact that my room was small, I have no complaints. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wonderful stay."
Have used the hotel before. It has gotten a little scruffy around the edges. The service is fabulous with one tiny exception. A surly (not to me but to other guests as I stood by watching) morning concierge. He was just snobby, not helpful. I was surprised as all the other hotel help was awesome.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Amazing hotel!"
I have nothing negative to say about the hotel, other than the weirdness of the elevator locations. It was a very great experience. I have stayed at MANY different hotels in the downtown area (4+ stars) and this was by far my favorite. I will be coming back!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Boutique Hotel for a Biz Trip"
Property is conveniently located to great shopping, restaurants, etc... Rooms are fabulous! Bed and bedding...even more so. Only downside was the restaurant on the first level. We were surrounded by fruit flies during our meal and the space itself felt cold and musty.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent Trendy Boutique Hotel"
Is in a good part of Chicago - is lively and my room was nicely furnished. I really appreciated the choice of reasonably priced wines in the room. As is usual , the room was a little small - hence only 4 stars.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Hotel, but it needs a maintenance elevator"
I really enjoyed my stay at the Dana Hotel and would definitely stay there again. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The restaurant was also very good. All of the staff was friendly. My only negative comment is that I frequently traveled in the elevator with maintenance staff disposing of garbage, which was not pleasant. The maintenance staff […] was extremely nice and friendly, but the hotel could certainly use a separate maintenance elevator. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Great little hotel. Had the interior feel of a W hotel. A little cold with small rooms but very well kept with great location. Would stay there again - only thing against hotel is it has a cold feeling - celing is concrete, sharp lines and dark colors.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
