"Great people, bad shower and prank wake-up call"
The hotel staff and hotel location were great. My co-worker and I both received repeated wake-up calls early in the morning though we did not request them. That was very annoying. Got a great rate thru here but would have rather have been closer to the downtown area. Staff was helpful but all parking available is valet at $36 per day. They help you with your luggage then switch to another group to take to your room....double tipping opportunity. Ended up finding this place due to the rate for a show that was in town. Valet was the only choice for hotel parking and was $36 per day. The valet helps you with your luggage (tip one) then another helps you with your luggage to your room (tip two)....nice set up for getting you twice. "Well run Hotel Near Busy Freeway"
Everything at the property was top notch. The restaurant has a creative chef with a menu that changes periodically and the quality and value was great. Room service was reasonable for a big city. Staff were appropriately attentive. Hotel is adjacent to a very busy freeway and the soundproofing was not very good. Trucks downshifting all night woke me […] dozens of times. I even moved my room to the opposite corner of the hotel from the highway and the noise just bounced off nearby buildings with no relief. "Good view if you don't mind dealing with rudeness"
Upon arriving at the hotel we were greeted by valet drivers who angrily told us to move out of the way. Once inside the front desk attendant was extremely rude and uninterested in us as guests, most likely because we are college students, but it shouldn't matter how old the guest is, just the fact that they are paying customers means they get equal […] treatment. This was the only hotel in the Chicago city limits that had any availability for a last minute business trip. For the price I paid a night, I was very disappointed. I got a corner room right next to the highway, so close that I was able to wave to commuters. It was very small, very little space to move around. The wireless internet didn't work and when […] I called the front desk about it, they said that the corner rooms usually do not get good signals. When I asked to move, they said that there was nothing available. The ethernet cord for the wired internet was broken. Bathroom was very small, little to no counterspace for all of the 'necessities' that are needed to travel with. Room amenities are limited. Honestly I would have moved hotels, and tried to, but there was no availability in the city due to many other conventions and festivals during that time. Good hotel out of the main downtown district. A cab fare to most hot spots is about $10 each way. The rooms have no fridge nor microwave, but overall were pretty comfortable, clean and modern.
