"Great stay!"

"A real gem in the River North"
Trendy, nuanced, and appropriately avant garde, this is a super nice "boutique" hotel in the River North that boasts some big amenities. Hospitality and service from the minutes you hit the property are top notch. For instance, check in means sitting in a comfy chair and checking in while you also talk with the concierge (one and the same person). Every […] person we talked to was super helpful in making arrangements for shows and dining. Add to this a lovely continental breakfast provided on EACH floor (good stuff too, way beyond hard rolls and cereal served out of a plastic tub), a wonderful managers's reception in a special lounge with soft drinks, good snacks/appetizers, and libations for adults, and, wait for it, free wi-fi. I consider this a real perk for a very nice property located in the middle of a trendy part of a big city where wi-fi can be really helpful in gathering information and making decisions about where to do and what to see and do. "Great location"
We enjoyed our stay very much. The evening cocktail 'hour' was most pleasant; you receive 2 chits for drinks upon checkin and they had very nice hors d'oeuvres. The room was lovely and had a bathtub--harder to find in hotels these days--as well as a dual head shower. The morning buffet on our floor was also ample and varied. We love this hotel!!!! The location is ideal, near all of our favorite bars and restaurants. The evening reception with the open bar and antipasti table is very relaxing, and something that we have not seen in more pricey hotels. We love that the breakfast buffet is set up on each floor. This is my 2nd visit to the Amalfi Hotel and it was just as wonderful this time around. Room was very clean and comfortable. I had requested a higher floor and was on the 4th floor, which worked out just fine. If you sleep lightly, request the 4th or 5th floors to get away from the noise of the Public House bar on the corner. On weekends it can get […] noisy. Amalfi is amazing. If you want to stay in downtown Chicago, this is your place. The room was rather large for a downtown hotel (I thought) and it was well-maintained. Furnishings were up-to-date, housekeeping did an impeccable job cleaning the room, and the amenities were well-stocked (plenty of towels, a nice hair dryer, comfy robes). But best of all […] was the staff. Each and every staff member we dealt with was pleasant and eager to please. A call to the front desk at 11:30 PM inquiring about the availability of milk or cream (to go with the in-room coffeepot) resulted in a staff member arriving at our door 5 minutes later with a bowlful of those individual half-and-half containers. The only drawback might be that attractions require a few more blocks of walking than if you stayed at a hotel, say, in the Loop or directly on the Mile. The location of the Amalfi Hotel can not be beat. It is the perfect location for walking to the Magnificaent Mile, the Loop, Millenium Park, etc. Only a few blocks to the train station in The loop or various bus stops nearby. Hotel staff is very friendly, rooms are very clean and modern, the air conditioning worked awesome during the recent heat wave. […] The beds are also the most comfortable that I have ever found in any hotel. Make sure you ask for a room facng the street. The view of Marina Towers and Harry Caray's Steakhouse is far better than the alley full of dumpsters on the backside. The free breakfast on each floor was very nice and saves a lot of money, especially if you have kids. The free happy hour drinks and appetizers each afternoon is also a great treat at The Amalfi. "Not bad for the price"
Great boutique hotel, great location. Parking is expensive, there's cheaper lots 2 blocks away. The lady who checked us in was not friendly at all. They have a "lounge" with free drinks every night but the "lounge" is just a sad small room with no windows. Room was clean and bed was extremely comfortable. Fridge was locked and we had to go back downstairs […] and give a ten dollar deposit to get a key. Fridge was empty when we opened it! I've never been to a hotel that locks an empty fridge. I stayed here for my birthday and brought my 3 toys dogs who stayed for free. I was not impressed with the lobby and the fact that the staff was always there to greet you at every turn. We chose this hotel for the price and location and enjoyed a nice stay for our mini-getaway. Our room was immaculately clean and decently sized for a downtown hotel...not huge but far from tiny. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast on every floor is a nice touch, but keep in mind it's not a hot breakfast. Other reviewers have complained about noise from the alley and nearby nightclubs, but fortunately we did not experience any disturbing noises (we stayed during the week which may have made a difference). "Christmas in Chicago"
We stayed at Amalfi for our annual Christmas in Chicago (we are from the burbs) and it was an awesome stay. Great location (we went to piano bar, Howl at the Moon) which was one block away and we even walked to the Daley plaza to see the tree.
