"Full Service Hotel, but small and personal."
It was a pleasure staying at the Amalfi Right off the river and very close to everything we needed. Small friendly, personal, and professional. Staff was great. Having the breakfast on each floor was a very nice feature. Room needed an upgrade. TV was old and did not work well (remote batts were liveless, TV would not shut off, hotel services were not working). Bed needed upgrading. Cute hotel in walking distance from the Mart and Michigan Ave along with many good restaurants. Bring your own pillow, their pillows are hard as rocks. I enjoyed my stay at the Amalfi. I didn't spend a lot of time there, but the staff was very attentive. Having a continental breakfast on the same floor as my room was a treat. We enjoyed the time at Amalfi. The room was not large, but not many are in Chicago. It was well appointed and extremely convenient to the area. The exercise room was well equipped. "Not what I had expected"
The hotel was fine...My room was on the front of the hotel and there was a lot of street noise. I could hear the conversation of people walking along the street below which woke me up as the bars let out. The room was clean and nice, but for the price I expected more. "very comfortable and accomidating- good atmosphere"
Overall very nice experience and service was great. The only problem that was a major inconvenience was they were unable to give me a package the day it was received. They said they did not have anything until finally that night another front desk employee checked when I told them to please look for any packages sent from my company. Apparently an old […] label was left on the box- but it did not say "hotel guest" & the old label was not even addressed to them. If they had checked thoroughly they would have seen clearly the correct label to them with my attention. It was a major inconvenience & should not have happened if they were paying attention and not so careless. If you are getting packages sent- Make sure you tell them to look for any packages sent by that company. They also tell you it goes to another building first & that they didn't receive it yet when in fact the package is a early am delivery from Fed Ex. They did try very hard to find it & in fact will call fed ex & try to trace it. But the fact remains- they had it the whole time and did not know it. "Staying at the Amalfi is a Breeze!"
Staying at the Amalfi Hotel in Chicago was a breeze! Check in was quick, the staff was friendly and not over-bearing, the room was exceptionally clean, and the "feel" of the place was relaxed. Staying at this hotel felt more like living in an apartment building and less like staying at a hotel. Granted, you don't have a swimming pool, but do you really […] need one? It was located near everything I needed to go to and not once did I need to get a taxi. You could walk to restaurants, theatres, the Sheraton Towers where my conference was, the Navy Pier, and Union Station without too much effort. We recommend guests consider their driving needs as many self-park garages are nearby. Still for those who choose to valet, there is the luxury and added convenience of paying one flat fee for unlimited in-and-out privileges.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Good things are: location, check in experience, especially the fact that you don't have to stay for a long time at the counter, but they have you sit at the check in clerk's desk. The check in itself was fast and efficient. Rooms are clean and nicely appointed, room service is good although pricey. Free Wi Fi. […] Breakfast is all pastry, yogurt, cereal and some limited fruit, so if you can't or don't want to eat sugar you are out of luck there. Everything was good, with one exception. It seems that maid staff has no idea which rooms are occupied and which are not. I checked in at 3 pm and was in the shower when I heard a knock on the door and literally two seconds later the made came in. I barely had time to throw the robe on. She told me she needed to check if any items were taken from the mini bar by previous guests???? It was 4 pm!!! I was in the room for an hour already and coulfd have used the bar, besides the previous guests had probably checked out before noon. I though it was a single accident, but was rudely awakened next morning about quarter to nine by another maid trying to enter to clean the room up. That one too did not give me any time to respond to the knock on the door and tried to open it right after she knocked. When I yelled "no" she just left without apologizing. This is a wonderful venue. Beautiful decorated, small, comfy, clean, classy. We would have liked to have the cocktail hour but it starts at the time most people are already at their dinner destinations so that's almost a wash. Be aware that […] if you need anything other than a standard taxi, (we needed a mini van because there were 4 adults with lots of luggage), you're on you own. It seems they don't have a relationship with the local taxi companies so they couldn't call for one that fit our needs.
