Location.
Housed in the 1929 Carbide & Carbon Building, the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago is positioned in the Chicago (Ill.) Loop business and theater districts on Michigan Avenue across from Millennium Park. Chicago Theatre and Grant Park are one block from the hotel and the Wrigley Building is three blocks away. The Art Institute of Chicago is five blocks from the property and Navy Pier is within one-quarter mile.
Hotel Features.
The bronze and Belgian-marbled lobby features studio lighting and Art Deco furnishings representing the Chicago nightlife scene. The Angels and Kings bar offers a variety of seasonal and premium spirits. Modern function areas feature box seating and plasma-screen televisions. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available the lobby. A 24-hour business center is offered. Business amenities also include 8,400 square feet of meeting space among 7 small and large meeting/conference rooms. The fitness center houses cardiovascular and strength-training equipment. Parking is available on-site for a surcharge. A Hard Rock Retail Store is also on the property.

Guestrooms at the hotel present views of Michigan Avenue and the Chicago River. Rooms feature 40-inch flat-screen televisions and clock radios with iPod docks. Wireless and wired high-speed Internet access are available for a fee. Hotel was in the ideal location for our needs: close to Union Station and Ogilvie; steps to buses for museums. Cabs are always plentiful. Countless restaurant options. 7-11 across the street. It was unfortunate that they stuck us (mom traveling with 5 yr old son) next to the elevators, where we could hear each and every movement of the three elevators […] on that bank. We stayed here 1 night for the Hockey City Classic. The room was a little smaller than I thought it would be (compared to pictures online) but it was still nice. The staff was very helpful. It was nice, clean and big. Rooms are spacious but not anything special. We had a city view but the view was not that great. Everything is very expensive. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Good location. However bed, linens and towels could be more upscale. Not very comfortable quality wise. Also room very noisy.. The room was really nice and modern, with an original style. The bed was very comfortable. The location is great, very to the shops on Michigan Avenue and lots of bars, restaurants and clubs are on the other side of the river. "Marijuana Guests"
The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star review is because of the very loud Marijuana guests next door to me. They smoked all around the clock and were so loud, ordering room services 4x an hour. The room service was tasty though- it was hard rock cafe food even though they don't have a hard rock cafe in the hotel. The staff were friendly and changed […] us to a different room, but it was at 1 am and there were items that got left behind, which were never given back. Although the staff had a good attitude about changing rooms, they were pot smokers too. The lobby often smelled like marijuana. I'm not sure if I would stay at a Hark Rock Hotel again because of that experience. It was a great location, great for the price, and it looks like they did everything they could to make the hotel cool. Maybe too cool for some people when other guests want to party like a rock star.
