The Embassy Suites Chicago Downtown Lakefront is the closest of all the downtown Chicago, Ill., hotels to the Lake Michigan lakefront, only three blocks away. The blue-line trolley station across the street provides complimentary transportation to Navy Pier, Michigan Avenue shops and Tribune Tower, all within three blocks of the hotel.

PJ Clarke's restaurant serves American entrees while 511 North Bar serves cocktails, wine and beer. A glass wall divides the lobby and dining venues from an indoor pool and sauna. The fitness center boasts cardiovascular and strength-training equipment and discounts are available to the adjoining health center that offers fitness classes and spa treatments. The hotel offers braille or raised signage, accessibility equipment for the deaf, and handicapped parking.

"Good potential, bad service"
I was extremely suprised that this hotel did not meet expectations. We got there around 1:30pm on Saturday and were told our room would not be clean until 3:30 (check-in is supposedly 3pm). So we settled for a double-bed suite that we could check into at 2:30pm. We went back at 2:30 and the double-bed room wasn't ready, either but we were told they […] had a room for us. We got into our room and it smelled like cigarettes really bad! But, we decided to spray some Febreeze and make the best of it. All the way down the hallway, there were plates of food from that morning on the floor. It was really digusting to look at. sadly, these plates were still there when we checked out on Sunday at 9am. There were drunks up ans down the halls all night and the bar was so loud! The hotel is beautiful and the location is great, but it lacks service!!! Parking rate is a joke. It is not $36 for overnight. It is $36 for everyone up to 24 hours & then it is pro-rated. We were there from 1155 2/24 - 1800 2/24 (technically one night and charged $72) Hotel was unhelpful and gaurd at shack was unhelpful also. The Hotel and Staff were fantastic. We always enjoy staying at their Hotels. The only reason for the reduced rating is the lack of use of the facilities due to conventioneers, and their unsupervised children. "winter trip to Chicago- 10-13 December 2012"
We were here in December 2012. We checked in and DJ, the front desk hotel clerk, checked us in and noticed that it was our anniversary month. Champagne was sent to the room. The manager's reception was a nice treat, the specialty drinks were very good. The hotel was in a good location, down the street from the Navy Pier and in walking distance to Michigan […] Ave. We will come back in the summer when the Pier is open. The hotel sits right next to the AMC theaters that also has an upscale bowling alley located inside. We arrived early for a belated Anniversarry night out. The staff was very friendly and had a room available and upgraded us. They were very gracious at helping us plan this last minute night out to ourselves and when we returned to our room, they had a bottle of champaign and strawberries. Definitely not a 3 1/2 star hotel. Location was good, and staff was very friendly, helpful and best part of our stay. But the room, even though relatively clean, was in need of some maintenance and retouching (wallpaper was peeling, a light bulb was missing in one of the lamps, no safe in the room). Getting in and out was a little difficult since we […] had to take 2 elevators (3 if you wanted to get to the parking garage!!!). If you don't like heights, this might not be the hotel for you, due to the inside courtyard and outside elevators. There was a breakfast buffet and a made to order menu. Both lines were long, but the meal from the made to order menu was hot and the one from the buffet was practically cold by the time you found a place to sit. Also, be prepared to see adults coming to breakfast in their pajamas and slippers. The free drinks during happy hour were okay (even longer lines) as long as you stayed away from the (watered down) mixes. Unfortunately, these freebies attracted an unusual mix of people, which made us feel as if we were at the Golden Coral. My huband and i went to embassy as a last little getaway before our baby arrives but it wasnt what we were hoping for. I was really looking forward to spending some time in the pool for a little exercise but it was PACKED with little kids (one of which kept filling his mouth with water and spitting it out). Happy hour gets really noisy and with the […] layout of the hotel I dont think theres a room that is far enough from the noise. The bathroom didnt have a vent. Not a big deal, but would have provided a little more privacy. the sunlight in the bedroom is really nice in the morning but the livingroom/seating area is always very dim. We had to park down the street because parking here was RIDICULOUS at 50 something dollars. The free breakfast was definitely the best part of our stay and unless you take the time to stand in line for the omlette...its just ok. Overall, I feel like the quality isn't worth the price. My girlfriend and and I stayed here for a night on the town that had been planned for a while. We ended up picking one of the biggest snow days of the year. Because of the location and comfort of the hotel it didn't damper the night at all. "The once Great Embassy hotel has fallen"
The once great Embassy hotel was less than I hoped for. The hotel smelled from the pool in the lobby and the rooms smelled like bad body odor. The face bowl had a crack in it and the tub had black mold growing in it. The carpets had red stains on it. The bed room smelled of body odor. I asked at the front desk for some air refresher to be sent up to […] eliminate the smell at 9:00 or 10:00 pm that night and a man showed up at my room at 1:20 AM in the morning asking to come in and spray my room. I told management about what happened and they said they would comp the rooms and there would be something coming in the mail for the two rooms I paid for.
