The W Chicago City Center is anchored in the center of Chicago's (Ill.) downtown Loop business district. The Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) rises one block from the hotel, while the theater district is located four blocks away. Merchandise Mart stands 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) from this property.
Hotel Features.
The hotel's two-story lobby features dark velvet drapes, subdued lighting and serpentine white-vinyl seating. Dining venues include IPO, featuring an eclectic menu of new urban cuisine. The art deco living room becomes the Living Room Bar from late afternoon to late evening, serving spirits and cocktails. The hotel offers a 24-hour business center and 14,000 square feet (1,300 square meters) of function space. A 24-hour, complimentary fitness center contains cardiovascular and weight-training machines, and free weights. Spa treatments are available (with advance reservations).

The 22-story W Chicago City Center offers 403 contemporary guestrooms equipped with high-speed wireless Internet access (surcharge), MP3 adaptors, CD and DVD players, and 42-inch plasma flat-screen televisions. Beds are dressed with pillowtop mattresses, custom duvets, and down comforters. Desks pair with purple-velvet chairs. Bathrooms contain bathrobes, lighted magnifying mirrors, and marble vanities. Bathrooms are stocked with Bliss toiletries. Select bathrooms contain showers only. All accommodations contain minibars and complimentary laptop-compatible in-room safes.

Living Room Bar - Hotel guests and locals mingle in the art deco Living Room with fine spirits and cocktails. Open daily from late afternoon until late night.
The 24-hour fitness room has exercise bikes, elliptical trainers, and treadmills equipped with headphones for individual plasma TVs. Fresh fruit, bottled water, and towels are complimentary. The hotel also offers discounted access to two health clubs within four blocks, providing yoga and Pilates classes, indoor lap pools, spa treatments (with advance reservations), and tennis, racquetball, and basketball courts.
The hotel is five blocks from Lake Michigan, where guests can walk, jog, or bike along a 20-mile lakefront path. Oak Street Beach, two miles away, is popular for sunbathing and swimming in the summer. Canoeing, kayaking, and rowing equipment can be rented from the Lincoln Park Boathouse, three miles away. Six miles from the hotel, the Sydney R. Marovitz golf course offers a challenging and scenic nine-hole course along Lake Michigan.

"A Night Downtown"
W Chi City Center was an excellent value for a weekend night stay. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The front desk allowed us early check in at noon. The hotel itself is in an old building but the rooms are pleasant, chic and modern. Comfortable and nice appointments. They serve great morning coffee,too. The W is a convenient, walk to Chi Loop […] theatres and sites. Plenty of fast food restaurants are close for a quick breakfast/lunch.Only four blocks from River North, too. Everything was great, except the free drinks card. when I got tot the bar, I had the impression I could order any liquor I wanted, of course with a common sense, but bartender told me only wine and beer. Stay was fantastic, and room was great. We had a corner room, which was more roomy than others in the hotel. Bathroom was tiny but functional if you're ok with getting ready one-at-a-time. We stayed at the W Chicago - City Center. Yes they wowed us...everyone from the valet parking guys to Laurelin, the concierge that spend some time finding a great comedy club for us in the area and booked it for us.; this was the best, friendliest service we received from a hotel in years! The lady at the desk when checking in asked if we were here […] for any reason and when we told her it was our anniversary she upgraded our room size with a very warm congrats...people, it's the little things like that that just makes your day. We even had a quick drink ( from a free drink card they gaves too ) at the bar and even the bartender was super nice, asking us question about where we were from, have a great time in Chicago etc... The hotel staff were fantastic, the saturday of a long weekend brought in a major storm - driving dozens of guests to stay in the hotel foyer for a few hours while the storm passed. The staff handled the influx with calm and professionalism, making everyone of the guests feel at home. I've apparently stayed at this hotel enough that I received an upgrade on my room, which I loved. Note: the "wonderful" room is TINY, but the others now have me reconsidering that I should upgrade all the time. The hotel is right near a Starbucks, Au Bon Pain, Jamba, CVS, and Walgreens, each of which I needed to stop by at at least once during my stay. The inside of the hotel is beautiful. The rooms are nice and big. The only odd thing we thought was that the bathroom door faces the beds not the hallway area as most do.
