"The one of the Best Hotels in Chicago"
I would say this hotel is a one of best hotels in Chicago. Especially the location is great. It's 2 mins walking distance to Millenum Park and 10 sec to a CTA station. Our room was really comfortable. They have everything I needed. I difinitely recommend this hotel to anyone. I'll come back soon.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
With a party of three (me and 2 adult children), it's hard to get a place big enough at a "reasonable" rate with wifi included. I was amazed how much room we had in this suite and the size of the bathroom. The mechanicals were quiet and the sound proofing good enough so that you wouldn't know that the Madison/Wabash stop on the loop was right next to […] the hotel (another great convenience). Millenium Park 2 blocks away, Macy's a few blocks up the street, Starbucks and Panera between Wabash and Michigan, and other restaurants nearby. Super friendly staff. Thanks for the great stay. Just get yourself a multi-day CTA pass and you're set. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Superb location and staff"
The staff provided exemplary customer service - welcoming and courteous at all times! Our ample and spotless room was in the back so we had no street noise or racket from the El. "Fantastic location/ Fabulous staff"
The staff was very polite, helpful, friendly. Room was a suite, large with large bathroom, clean. The train is right outside the hotel, never heard it from the room. We take the train everywhere when in Chicago, liked the fact it was right outside the door! It was a short walk to the lake, yoga in the park on Sat. morning. Would stay there again for […] sure. "The Center of Downtown Chicago"
This was my first trip to Chicago, so I chose the Silversmith because it was close to all the must-see tourist sights. The location was perfect. I was able to walk everywhere - to Millennium Park, the Art Institute, the Chicago Cultural Center, and even the trek to Navy Pier wasn't bad. In addition, the hotel is surrounded by restaurants, both local […] and chain, and the shopping district is just a few blocks away. And, being at the heart of Chicagoland, there were lots of bus stops, taxis, and a stop for the L train thirty feet from the door. The hotel itself was nothing spectacular. Nice, but not spectacular. The room looked exactly like the pictures on the website; it was not spacious, but it was comfortable. I was placed at the end of the hall on the third floor and even though the windows looked out into an alley, I couldn't hear the train or traffic at all. Service was fine; there was always someone at the front desk and they were generally helpful. I only have two complaints: one, I could not get the room to warm up, even when I bumped the thermostat into the 80s. Two, there was no doorman, something the hotel advertises, and this wouldn't make much difference except those doors were heavy and difficult to open when carrying luggage. A doorman was there when I first arrived (and didn't get the door), but then I never saw him again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Location ad Service!"
This hotel was in a fantastic location - right in the Loop, one block from Millenium Park. The service was great and very quick. Our room was spacious, but we thought all the King Superior Suites would look like the pictures with a very separate sitting area, which was not the case with the room we got with the pull-out couch right next to the bed. We're happy you were able to take advantage of our great location and that our staff took good care of you. "Great Downtown Location"
The Silversmith suited us very well; it is very well located for museums, architectural tours, restaurants, public transportation, shopping, etc. The staff is very friendly and helpful. "Great location and service"
All staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful. Hotel is right next to several "L" train lines and just a block away from another, not to mention a short walk to Millennium Park. Would want to stay here for all future trips to Chicago.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice hotel in an excellent location"
We loved the mission style decor, and the hotel could not have been in a better location for the sights we wanted to visit, including the Art Institute and several good restaurants.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely hotel with great service"
Houstonyed our stay at the Silversmith. Unique historical building close to shops, Art Institute, L station. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only reason I didn't rank 5 stars was the noise level outside rooms at night. No soundproofing in older building so you can clearly hear other guests in hallway.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Holiday Vacation"
We have stayed at the Silversmith two years in a row just prior to Christmas. The location is great as an EL station is right outside the front door, State Street shopping is around the corner, and the Kriskindermarket is less than three blocks away. The staff is helpful and friendly. The lobby is warm and inviting with a real fire burning. The passing […] EL trains were barely noticeable in our room. If we need to stay in Chicago for Christmas due to the children's schedules, we will stay at the Silversmith and celebrate around the fireplace in the lobby. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Silversmith is a great small elegant hotel"
Stayed 3 nights with my daughter looking at Colleges. Great location in the middle of it all, only a few blocks to the Art Institute. Staff was very pleasant and room was quite nice. Asked for room in back away from street so "L" noise was minimal. Great TV and beds were awesome, free Internet to boot! Could not have been happier with the choice!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

This is the third time we've stayed at Silversmith and we've enjoyed each stay. The staff is always extremely helpful. I had called ahead about getting a surprise birthday cake for my wife. "Wonderful Hotel - close to everything"
This hotel was so quaint, we loved it. The bed was one of the most comfortable bed we have slept in. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We will stay here again, the hotel is close to the train line, and within walking distance from the Park, Art Museum, pretty much everything. The view from the room wasn't great, but we weren't in the room […] very much. The only complaint was the quality of the hair dryer in the room, we can't bring much on flights anymore, and a decent hair dryer is a must for any women. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great accessibility to public transportation"
The reason to stay here is for location! The El station is at your doorstep. Millenium Park is less than two blocks away. Within 30 minutes you can walk to PLENTY of great locations in downtown Chicago. The hotel is certainly older, but they do have updated features within the room. The King suite is not as large as you might expect (same size as other […] room relatives had booked) - the benefit is having some separation in your room. This place is all about the location! "Close to the museums"
We enjoyed the hotel because it was close to the attractions that we wanted to see at museum park. The room was nice and the bathroom huge. Next to the "L" but hardly noticed it. Had a fridge. Employees were friendly. Overnight parking cost was a bit steep. Overall, a good stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, few perks"
If you are looking to be in the center of lots to do this a great hotel. However, you won't receive the usual things that you would from a mainstream hotel, such as pool and breakfast. Also, if you are light sleeper the train noise can be a little much.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location and Friendly Staff"
Great place to stay downtown! Hotel was quiet and the staff was very friendly! We were on the 5th floor right above the L Train - it sounded like wind so it didn't bother us. There are some restaurants close by to grab a quick breakfast in the morning along with CVS and Walgreen's. Valet parking was 50 a day which is comparable for that area. Self parking […] was 42 and not sure it allowed "in and outs" like valet did so we used valet. I'd stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to restaurants, shops and mass transit."
The hotel was very nice. Service was exceptional. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable (the pillows were a little small). Our room was located 4 floors above a El stop but the sound really wasn't that bad. "Silversmith Hotel - great location, okay hotel"
First of all, the location is fabulous - train station right outside the front door. Use the public transportation system - it is awesome! The hotel was not so awesome. Housekeeping was very slow and very forgetful. We came back from sightseeing twice - once at 4:00, once at 5:00 - and our room still had not been serviced. We had to call every night […] (7 nights) for something that was "forgotten" - towels, cups, coffee (repeatedly), even toilet tissue. It became a joke. The room was quite small; luckily there were only three of us, but a larger family would have been very uncomfortable. Front desk personnel was not always helpful and somewhat snooty - they definitely had disdain for the public transit system. When we visit Chicago again, we will stay at another hotel in the same area. Just not the upscale experience or feeling of "welcome" we expected and have received at other places - even those with fewer stars. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We picked the hotel because of its proximity to the Art Institute and other attractions. We had a fantastic suite, which was large enough to hold a crib for our 18 month old. He slept comfortably in the TV room while we had privacy in the bedroom. The hotel staff were very friendly and they set us up with our room even though we arrived at 10:30am on […] a Saturday. "Excellent hotel with awesome staff."
We stayed 5 nights and it was excellent. It's right near the trains, which we didn't actually use much, but is very handy if you do want them. Amazingly they must have built the hotel out of sound proof. You can hardly, without any noise, make out that there are trains nearby. We never caught the staff not giving us a smile and hello. The room was spacious […] feeling with tall ceilings, excellent bedding. The shower area was also spacious. One thing that astounded us was that it had an old style CRT TV rather than an LCD. While it wasn't very important and we never made use of it, should there be a TV In the room it's nice to have an LCD available in case you want to HDMI a phone/tablet device. The WiFi is free in there which is super handy. I would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Silversmith Hotel - comfort and convenience"
I love this hotel, and stay here regularly. Remember to ask for a room at the back of the hotel so that you won't hear the sound of the El, which runs right past the front of the hotel. "Vintage Hotel in Loop"
Beautiful old hotel in unobtrusive loop location. Historic building, excellently maintained. Rooms were nice--nothing flashy. Free wifi was nice. Desk staff was friendly and efficient. My only bad experience, and the reason for the mediocre rating, is that the valet parking attendant blatantly lied to me about the price of parking in other garages […] in the area. I understand that parking attendants are usually reluctant to give out information about cheaper parking options nearby, but I asked the valet attendant directly whether there was cheaper parking available elsewhere (instead of the hefty $47/night charge at the Silversmith), and he lied to my face, claiming that the Millenium Park Garage was only $2/night cheaper. In fact, you can save $20/night by walking 4 blocks towards Millenium Park and using the underground lot there. I can overlook a lot of things in a hotel, but lying to guests is inexcusable. Excellent location very near shopping, dining, entertainment. Guest services were very professional. Property comfortable and well cared for. Will definitely return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I travel alot for business and pleasure, and I don't think I have stayed at a friendlier place than the Silversmith. Whatever shabbiness the hotel may show, is made up for by the sunny and helpful disposition of the staff. We were upgraded without asking, the bellman helped our family of 4 in numerous ways, and when the concierge realized that a museum […] opened at 10 (instead of 9 as she had advised) she took the stairs to outrun our elevator and deliver the correct info. If you want to be in the Loop, it is a great spot. And I understand they have a renovation planned, which should give it the facelift it needs. We will definitely stay there again. "Great service with nice location."
Interior design was very impressive. Yet, I think price is little bit higher compare to hotel itself. And, Mexican gangs just came out nowhere on the opposite side of street from where hotel was located. "Easy access to the train"
We chose to go to Chicago because we had never gone, took a child (11) and 2 adults. Stayed at this hotel based on a recommendation and although it's not a 5 star hotel by any means, it was super easy to take the train from midway airport and it drops you off right at the hotel. There are a ton of great restaurants and shopping all within a mile of […] the hotel. The rooms were pretty big, ours had 2 beds, mattresses not the most comfy, but really you're just there to sleep. No free breakfast in the am :( but there is a great bakery on the corner. The employees there are very knowledgeable about the area and we utilized them alot. We never ended up taking the train anywhere else, the city is just so neat and pretty to see while walking. It's about a 3 mile walk to the aquarium and solider field area. Lots of taxis available. Overall, we would stay here again, resonably priced, but great location! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
