The Hyatt Chicago Magnificent Mile features a 2-story, terrazzo-and-granite lobby with crystal chandeliers, mahogany wood, and floor-to-ceiling windows. The registration desk is located on the second level, accessed by a grand, curving staircase. The cherry-wood-accented Caliterra restaurant prepares California and Italian fusion cuisine for lunch and dinner. The exhibition kitchen prepares 4- or 6-course tasting menus, and a wine room may be reserved for small parties. The dining room features hearty buffet breakfasts every morning from 6:30 AM to 11 AM. A business center houses 3 computer stations and offers copy, fax, scan, print and boarding pass services. Wireless Internet access is available for a surcharge. A total of 18,000 square feet of function space accommodates events. Recreation includes a complimentary 24-hour fitness center equipped with cardiovascular and resistance machines, and free weights. An indoor pool and spa tub occupy the second floor of the hotel. Limo or town car service is available. Roundtrip airport shuttle can be provided with 24 hours prior notice (surcharge.)

The 17-story property offers 417 contemporary guestrooms decorated in pastel tones with autumnal accents. Beds consist of pillowtop mattresses, Egyptian-cotton 250-thread count sheets, and white cotton duvets. Bathrooms include granite vanities and curved shower rods. Technological enhancements include CD players, cable TV, cordless phones, and high-speed wired and wireless Internet access for a fee.

Caliterra - This intimate, cherry-wood-accented room serves Californian and Italian fusion cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Guests can dine on couches in the lounge, at romantic tables near the curved wall of windows, or in banquette seating. Breakfast, from 6:30 AM until 11 AM, consists of an elaborate buffet or more traditional fare such as cereal and oatmeal. Lunch and dinner include organic salads, pastas, and seafood. The exhibition kitchen is lively at dinner, when it presents a 4- or 6-course tasting menu and cheese cart. A wine room can be reserved for small parties.
Room service is available 24 hours a day.
The 20-mile-long lakefront path that borders Lake Michigan's shoreline is 6 blocks east of the Hyatt Chicago Magnificent Mile and is popular for running, walking, biking, or in-line skating. Bicycles, in-line skates, and pedal-powered buggies for groups are available for rent at several beachfront locations. During summer, Oak Street Beach, 0.5 mile north, and North Avenue Beach, 1.5 miles north, are popular for sunbathing and for swimming when lifeguards are on duty. Also in summer, beach volleyball courts are available for rental and pick-up games. Public tennis courts and a public golf course are both 4.5 miles northeast of the hotel. The Hyatt has an on-site 24-hour fitness gym.

"Good hotel, noisey sirens, loud neighbors"
The hotel was under construction, but was very nice, room was clean and was pleased in these respects. HOWEVER, within our 3 night stay, we had two incidents with neighbors. One, partied all night, we complained twice, then opened his door (conjoined rooms) and scratched on our door until I had enough...I opened the door and found a naked HS boy laying […] against our door, stoned out of his mind. Then two nights later we suffered through a french guy screaming into his phone for two hours. This combined with constant sirens going to the hospital that is next door, made sleep quite difficult. I loved the location and the front desk staff. My problems occurred with the room. The bedside phone did not work, But worse than that my bathroom plumbing was all a mess. When you flushed the toilet, raw sewage came up and did not go down. Took them till the next day to address and fix it. The bathtub had no hot water. Took them 2 days to even address […] or fix that problem. I was there for 4 day and had to take cold showers for 3 of those. I HATE COLD SHOWERS!!! My last day I was visited by the hotel manager and I thought she was coming to see me about my problems with my room. No, she was coming to tell me that since the hotel was under construction, the water would be turned off the next morning, so I wouldn't be able to shower before I checked out and went to the airport. I complained and she had the hot water fixed. She said that it was the first she had heard of it. When I checked out she acted like because I wasn't a rewards customer that there really wasn't anything she could do for me. She took my info and said she would get back to me. This hotel was in a good location for us to walk around and explore. We felt safe. The staff was very helpful especially since we were there during the renovation. We had a decent stay at the hotel. Would have been nice to know that the hotel was u der construction before booking on hotels.com. The day we were leaving, they had to turn the water off starting at 9:00 am. This was not ideal considering we were traveling with two 5 year olds. We had a little "staycation" at the Hyatt. Overall, good experience. The hotel room interiors need to be renovated, nothing major, just minor things such as old tube TVs and unnecessarily large bathrooms that don't seem quite right in the space. The staff at the Hyatt was absolutely outstanding. They were friendly, helpful, and accomodating. Since the hotel is under renovation, we weren't able to see much of the beautiful lobby or use the restaurant, but that didn't detract from our visit. The only drawbacks we found were related to the pool: because of construction, the pool was only open […] in the evening but the website simply said it was open. This really changed the plan for our days. Secondly, the pool is very, very small and crowded with people, but there were not nearly enough chairs for parents to use to supervise their children. Hotel was undergoing renovation, no working icemaker on floor went to another floor it was not working either. They brought small refigerator to room, it had a number of obvious dents on it. Some of the elevators were reserved for renovation but not labled as such. No instruction for T V operation in room had to figure it out by myself. We did not realize that construction was scheduled during our stay. Our first issue with this was vibrations and banging coming from the floors above. We were told they were drilling marble. The second issue was the TV service was very shotty. Most of the time we only had one channel and when we did have more than one channel it was all static. We requested more towels as we had four people in our room and they were brought up within 5 minutes followed by a follow up call to make sure we got them. FOrmerly a Wyndam property- now one my favorite overall brands- Hyatt. The room I had ( 1031 ) was extremely large. Almost had too much room...
