Hyatt Chicago Magnificent Mile

My wife and I went to this hotel for a business trip. The hotel is brand new (has been remodeled and redone, was previously a different hotel). The bar and restaurant weren't open yet but they were open to see and they looked really nicely done. The staff was excellent and everyone was very courteous and helpful. Rooms were nice and mattress very comfortable. […] My only gripe is the coffee "condiment" package, which isn't just the Hyatt but annoying none the less. They give you really good Starbucks coffee to brew, but for your 2 cups of coffee you 2 packets of sugar and 2 tiny packets of creamer, total. The coffee doesn't even change color when you add the creamer. Not the end of the world, and they will bring you more if you call down, but it just doesn't seem very well thought out and it could disrupt your morning routine if you were in a rush Read more

I enjoyed my recent stay in your hotel. The newly renovated room was fabulous and exceeded my expectations. The bed was comfortable, lighting was great in all areas. You placed outlets appropriately for plugging in the electronics. I didn't hear anything except the occasional ambulance heading for the nearby hospital. One suggestion is related to pillows; […] it would be nice to have a combination of soft and firm pillows. I used 5 that night and still felt like I was sleeping on a flat surface. When I first arrived in Chicago I tried to check in. To be expected, my room was not available. I came back at check in my room was not available and I excepted a different rm of 1 king bed with roll away instead if two queen beds. Also at check in I learned that the hotel was under construction and the pool and fitness center hrs were very limited […] and not convenant and the hours of being open did not work for my family. The main reason we stayed at that hotel was for the pool for my children. Location of hotel was great. I might consider staying there again. Still a great location, and the rooms are very nice. As of 3/28/13 the hotel is under major renovation, lobby and restaurants are closed. A great hotel with some current minor inconveniences.

This was a nice enough hotel. They were going through some sort of construction, so guests entered through an office building rather than hotel lobby. Lots of food and restaurants around. Also right next to a hospital, which wasn't too bad but I did here sirens every now and again. I would stay here again if needed a hotel in the area.

Great experience except that we left our phone charger and our only option to get it back was pay $20 to have them fedex it to us. They wouldn't just mail it. That seemed unreasonable. We were disappointed. The parking. Seemed too high at $54.

This Hyatt was disappointing. Our view was horrible and the hotel was across the street from a very busy ER entrance. Most of the staff was great but one front desk woman was SO snobby. No continental breakfast is offered and if you want decent coffee it's $3. The room was small, but the king bed was comfortable.

This is not the Hyatt quality I am used to. I was expecting a nice weekend with my girlfriend, but was embarrassed to bring her here. Definitely not a four-star hotel at this point. I moved into three different rooms, the third was a suite, hoping to find one that was in decent shape. Old, outdated, very scuffed up, worn-out furniture, holes in the […] ceiling, lampshades loose and noticeably very crooked (it's about details, right?), small. old 27" tv's, large mismatched paint touch-ups on the walls, stains on the carpet, armoire and cabinets all partially opened when I came in, mini bar has been turned into a fridge, only coffee in the room, but only one cup (details), no glasses in the bathrooms, etc. When I spoke to the front desk, they were very helpful and apologetic stating that they had not renovated yet and offered me free internet connection. At least they tried with what they had!...it was due to start renovation Jan 1, 2013. I booked online and was hoping for far better. Very disappointed in the room quality, Hyatt. The hotel staff was very helpful and accomidating. We were able to get a early checkin which was nice so we could get showered and cleaned up before hitting the mall. Only update I could see that might be keeping thus Hyatt from a higher rating is the tv in the room is old. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely stay there again.

The heating system did not work: at first it was too cold then too hot. The cleaning lady woke me up for no reason early in the morning. I told her I was leaving at 10:00 a.m. but then she came by again that morning and interrupted my work.

The hotel was very nice. It was a little hard to find for someone not familiar with Chicago and the next closest Hyatt gave poor directions. The room was spacious and comfortable. Everything was perfect; the staff, the room, the service, the location - Everything was Perfect. I confess, I contemplated cancelling our reservation after hearing so many negative reviews. I think the other Hyatt, on Wacker might be the one everyone is thinking of, because the St. Clair St. Hyatt is BEAUTIFUL!! I was pleased with our visit except for room service. we were told 30 monutes for our order and I called in 50 minutes and was told it would be 10 to 15 minutes more. we were on a schedule for an appointment at northwestern and would not have orderd if we would have been told 50 minutes. The staff otherwise was very helpfull.

Who builds a hotel and doesn't supply the guests with parking. Thats like charging to use the toilet and then telling you that toilet paper cost extra. You can figure on spending an extra fourty bucks for parking. The other problem is that this hotel is across the street from the hospital. Ambulance sirens all night long. This hotel should be called "Just Off the" Magnificent Mile as the name is misleading. I say this because this is a new location used to be a Wyndham hotel before just recently becoming a Hyatt. None of the cabbies knew about this change and could not get us to the correct location. We arrived very late, just after midnight. I was charged a early arrival […] fee? This hotel is clearly going through a change in ownership as evidenced by my booking the Wyndham Hotel and showing up to see it had changed hands to Hyatt. Clearly this hotel needs a facelift - the walls in my room were scuffed and hadn't been attended to in years. My towels were of poor quality (better ones exist at my gym), the pool was murky, yes […] murky - it looked like the scene in Nat'l Lampoons vacation (except no duck in it thankfully). Additionally the hallway carpets on the 11th floor (and I assume elsewhere) were stained, miscolored, and are in dire need of tearing up. I have stayed in the hotel several times in the past couple of years because of it's proximity to the Loop for business but close to Mag Mile for nightlife. I do not believe I will be returning. First of all it was very confusing that I booked this under the name Wyndam Chicago, and searched for this hotel for about 20 minutes. Finally upon calling was told that it changed names. The hotel staff seemed very frazzled and busy (porbably die to teh name change) and it was not a pleasent stay. The gym was locked when it was supposed to be opened, […] the channel slection is terrible with half the stations being poor picture quality, the staff was hard to locate, calls to the front desk would ring 30 times with no pick up and my bathroom had a leaky faucet that went unfixed my whole stay.
